Chereads / Nine Fates of Hell / Chapter 36 - Nine Nirvana Staff

Chapter 36 - Nine Nirvana Staff

As Rou Lang worked on spinning her staff whilst breathing in a pattern, she heard sounds coming off from a distance. Distracted she was, her grip loosened, letting the pole hit her head. She rubbed her head in annoyance, staring off in the distance where the sounds came from. Curiousity got her focus and she walked to it.

There below a hill, was sounds of wind splitting in violent movements, as vigorous force keeps whipping it again and again. A man holdeth a staff as he spins it in a breakneck speed, completely defying electric fan, and his pole's afterimage formeth one huge circle. Between those spins were attacks as well, through the staff's inertia, he would divert the path slightly and hit leaves falling from a tree. It was amazing, an jaw-opening spectacle. The man dressed in martial robes, moved with great speed, valiantly thrashing leaves before they hit the ground. As his first round ended, he leaped up high for a few meters, and in descent brings forth a massive smash to the ground.

Smack! The ground cracks, shockwave flattening the grasses.

Rou Lang was wide-eyed. And so was her Master clapping in amazeness.

"Awesome! That was what I call a real pole martial art! The movements were very simple, yet each are defined very well, executed to the peak of mastery! Great job!"

She was tongue tied as well. Never did she seen a grand performance. Indeed! In terms of elaborateness, his movements can only be called basics, yet they were just done perfectly, not an ounce of flawlessness was seen. It was obvious this guy is a martial arts expert. After all, not all high-levelled cultivators are martial artists, many of which preferred meditation in seclusion thus have tiny time for practice. But some who dedicates themselves into the art of weaponry have excelled very well that they can defeat armies with just pure skills. Such people are admired by masses. Master Lei Jian was no exception. He too spent his whole life being a weapon, a perfect machine for slaying, thus he was an avid fan of martial arts. Now he was only a spirit form, he can only rely on his disciple to fight. Although he was kind of disappointed, he hopes for her to become as skillful in the nearest future. Otherwise, if he don't guide her, she may just went haywire, picking some sharp weapons to swing blindly just as Demon Levi. The demons and celestial have very opposite way of life. Demons usually grew up to be stubborn and cruel because of the environment they were in, whilst celestials have better state of life, thus are more focused on learning.

"Kiddo, you have found a jackpot this time. Go and ask if he is willing to teach you. If not, watch from the sideline and try to learn as much as you can. I won't help you this time. I need not to waste my time any further because I have to cultivate. It is up to you if achievement is your output, effort is certainly your input, though it depends how much you can give."

"No worries, Master! I will do my best!"

The guy finished three rounds in no more than an incense of time. He stabbed his pole and to the soil it was buried. A single tear of sweat flows from his head. He turned around to see a tall lady grinning at him.

"?"

"Hello!"

His demeanor reverted to incognisance. He stared at her with dead eyes and proceeded to ignore.

The lady was unceded. She appeared in front of him and greeted.

"Hi!"

But the guy rolls his eyes and sat down on the meadow, using her shadow as cover against the bright sun rays.

"Uhh, can you teach me pole arts? Please?", said with beautiful eyes.

But the guy was unfazed. He pretended as if she don't exist. He stared blankly at the horizon.

Rou Lang's facade turned serious. "Come on. Atleast don't ignore me."

Yet the guy never listened to her.

Madness overwhelmed her nerve. You still ignore me? Fine! She passed away in silence, leaving the guy alone to burn on the sun. The guy wondered where she was going to.

"!!! You!" He chased the pretty lady who stole thy pole. "Give me that!"

Although she runs absolute rush, she was easily overtaken by a few leaps and was pinned down on the ground, her face kissing the soil.

"You dare steal from me! Don't you know what you are doing is against the law? I have all the rights to kill you here and now!"

"Please forgive me! I'm sorry! I know I've done wrong. I was just hoping if you could teach me staff martial arts. I don't mean to upset you. Though I know I can't run away from you!"

"If that is true, then why run so fast! It's clear you are running away from your crime. Now take this punishment!" He stomped on her and raised the staff.

"Stop! Don't you know you're jamming my chest? My bumps hurts a lot!"

"Uh?" He lightened his force. The lady turned around, holding her chest.

"Ahh. It hurts." Seeing her pained expression, his gaze softened.

"Hmph!" He walks away.

"Wait!"

RUMBLE!

"What is?"

RUMBLE! Then an explosion-like sound boomed out, deafening her. The rumble was louder than any thunder. Then up above, the skies dimmed. The sun was disappearing, causing darkness to fall. All the animals cried, howled, and sat in anxiety. The birds hurriedly disappearing from sight to return to their nests. And the surroundings turned silent. But suddenly.

The skies shook as if there was a storm. But the clouds were clear and everything seems fine. Yet the rumbling continued, getting stronger and louder until the air pressure dropped considerably. The atmosphere turns very heavy, as if every particle is pressing on them.

Then the rumblings turned to roars. The clouds blazed in thunders and lightnings before they were dissolved, revealing a huge thing falling from above. The huge meteorite was burning in blue flame as it cascaded in great brilliance. However, as it all falls down, it bringth the whole air pressure above it, thus creating a massive whirlpool.

All the air molecules seemingly exploded and spin across the surroundings, pressing everything -the trees, grasses, and soil into a downward pressure.

Rou Lang cannot react to the change. She was pinned down hard on the soil which is slowly sinking. She finds it hard to breathe, and needle-like energies are poking her skin. Meanwhile, the guy was unfazed as he stared at the sky in wonder. Rou Lang heard him speak.

"What is happening? Could it be so soon?"

She stared up above. The giant ball of burning meteor was descending slowly. It begans to burn the atmosphere, causing temperature to rise significantly. Although the guy's back is facing her, she deduced him gritting in anger or frustration. He grabs his staff, and the staff burns with fire, seemingly burning its outer coating revealing a white metallic staff underneath. The staff was carved with twin dragons and endless patterns of runes came glowing red. For a while, Rou Lang recognized a vague familiarity with the runes and the twin dragon mark.

The guy did a hand gesture, deactivating his concealing array. A bright light encompassed his figure and he later becomes his real self. Black long hair cascading with the wind they flutters like a flag. He wore no more ordinary martial robes but of heavenly armor designed with various drawings and runes. Rou Lang felt a stronger presence coming from him. So he was not a normal martial artist but a cultivator of a very high level. She felt she was an ant compared to his boots.

"I think I recognize his staff. That is one of the legendary Nine Nirvana Staffs. Those were weapons of the ancient times, wielded by the nine protectors of Heavens. But the original owners of such staffs have died long ago, and the gods decided to nurture promising youths to become the next inheritor. The way I see it, this guy is one of those geniuses chosen to wield a legendary staff. While he may not actually be of a high cultivation, I got to admit his potential is limitless. His foundation is well built, and so with his mastery of basic staff wieldimg has nearly reached a maximum perfection. If he has a couple more hidden techniques, he might actually be able to destroy that big boulder of rock. Oh, do you know what that rock is? I bet you don't. Honestly, I also don't know. It seems to be a fragment of Heavenly Pillars."

Back to the cool awesome guy, he knows what is happening. Of course, that is because he's a genius. And he knows the only way to stop the descending meteor was to destroy it. The meteor was atmost a third of the size of a moon, diametering for kilometers. Under it, no one can't not be called an ant. Although it is advancing slowly, it is no doubt heavier than the heaviest balls.

If the guy must destroy it, he must unleash all his hidden techniques. For easier narration, let's call him Xiao Bai for now. It means little white, a cute name supposedly for a pet but since she have no pet, then Xiao Bai is it.

Xiao Bai utters mantras whilst drawing figures in the air. While watching, Rou Lang could almost shout.

What are you waiting for?! Hurry up and act before my breasts are crushed!

Just do it! Faster! Faster! Agh.
