Chapter 10 - CONFESION OVER THE WALLS

ALEXANDER'S POV

I turned to leave Rachelle to her own devices, things once again didn't turn out as I wish. So I didn't bother to look back I just waved my hand to return the gesture as I walk away.

On my way to the cellar which I didn't bother showing to her for two reasons: One, there are certain things in my life that must be kept secret, and second, my father's research is in the cellar and I don't wish to expose it to a person I just met.

Looking back at our first encounter I can't help but feel uneasy, she looked familiar…too familiar for my liking and that's not a good thing. After living a meaningless life for so long I have come to hate people, I do not wish to interact and to hold them close… they'll all just die on me after all. They will all just disappear and fade away as memories but of course, sometimes people break into my life without warning like Robbie and Kristy. Those siblings are like family, my two closest friends who will leave me all alone after some time.

And that's why I want them to be the last…

But then Rachelle came along

Her bright smile shedding light into my life, her warmth making me feel at home…

All the feeling I thought I've killed off over the years…

Springing back to life…

And I didn't like that, especially with how she looks at Robbie. It's for the best if I just back off and let them be together.

She'll never return my feeling anyway…

Deep in thought, I didn't notice that I've reached the cellar, causing me accidentally hit my face in the door.

"Ugh…bloody hell"

Shaking the dizziness off of my head, I proceeded to open the door.

And as I came in the dreadful memories returned…

The day I became immortal, the day I found out that my father's research succeeded, the day that brought me this never-ending pain…

All of my father's pieces of equipment remained in their place, the table in the center topped with the bottles of chemicals. All of his books and journals still neatly place on the shelves and the materials he has gathered for a very long time still kept in the drawers, but most importantly the last remaining bottle of his creation: the fruit of his lifelong research, which he called the serum vitae or serum of life.

At first, he was happy about his success but his last days in this world were filled with regret and sorrow. He couldn't look into my eyes because he knew… he knew what lays ahead, the road I will have to face because of a bottle of serum.

I opened the secret volt where I've been hiding the serum it was still intact, the faint glow of red radiating from the bottle sending a fair warning to those who will see it.

I closed the volt again and walked towards the bookshelf, reaching for a journal that I've read before for so many times that I've lost count.

Reading it over and over hoping I could find a way to undo it all and maybe… just maybe with some luck.

I could finally rest and pass this world as a normal person would…

ROBBIE'S POV

After leaving the mansion went, I brought Kristy home then headed town to purchase some materials I will need in my home garden. As I entered the shop I immediately saw the wide variety of the seeds, there were fruits and vegetable seedlings however I didn't come here for those. I would be buying pink dianthus seed for her because in the language of flowers pink dianthus means pure love. And just like my love for her, it is so pure it will never fade away even after years of separation.

I quickly purchased the seeds and headed home but stopped by an inn to buy dinner for both Kristy and me.

Once I reached home it was already noon therefore I decided it would be best to plant the seed tomorrow morning.

"Kristy?" I called, trying to locate my beloved little sister.

"Come I brought dinner" I said

There were no answers but then just like always Kristy emerged from the back door, and almost immediately she ran towards me. She gave me a hug which I gladly returned.

"Welcome home big brother" she said smiling happily

"Come on. It's time for dinner" I said gesturing for her to sit down which she did.

I prepared the table as my sister waited…

The dinner was noisy, to put it bluntly. Kristy told me all about her day. How she played in the garden, how she tried cleaning the house and her so-called adventure to the fairy world to save a lost puppy. I only listed as she goes on, she's so adorable and loving that I don't know what I'll do if I lost her too…just like how we lost our parents from years ago.

I still remember it just like it was yesterday.

My father went first he was out on a hunt with his friend trying to prepare for the coming winter, only to be attacked by a bear his friend tried to help and took him to a doctor…but later that night he passed leaving me as the man of the house.

When my mother died the people from the town says it was from the heartbreak of losing father, but I knew better it was due to excessive work. The death of my father left up with a huge debt and a smaller income, no matter how hard I tried to bring money in. Therefore my mother had no choice but to work harder than before. In the end, she caught a fever…after that, her situation only worsened with each day. It was in the middle of summer she was in the field when suddenly she collapsed. Her last words for me was "Don't feel down, I know how hard you are trying, and because of that I am proud of you…always and forever"

After her death, I promised to take care of my little sister which did, without any regrets. She's the only family that I have left and so I shall love her till the end of my life.

The dinner ended with Kristy looking at me curiously, I probably spaced out too long and she's wondering if something matters.

I only shook my head and pet head hers, as I smiled and stood up.

"You should go to bed, I'll clean this up and follow suit" I said with a smile in my face.

"Okay big brother" she running off towards the bed room.

Later that night I slept beside Kristy holding her close, I kissed her forehead…I promise big brother will always protect you.

Before I fell asleep, I mentally noted the two important things I needed to do tomorrow.

First plant the seeds

And second, read the journals to help Alexander and Rachelle to find her way home.
