Lara woke up with a start. She just had a nightmare about a girl covered in blood and she was choking her, her green eyes gleaming with pure hatred towards her. Lara clenched her aching chest while gasping for air. She just felt like something was drilling into her heart, and it felt painful. Really, really painful.
A big warm hand suddenly cupped her forehead. "You're not burning up, anymore."
Eyes wide, Lara looked up and saw her father checking her body temperature.
He was sitting on the bed with her. And beside him was a basin that was half full with water and ice cubes, and a wet towel was hanging over it.
What? What happened?
Did she have a fever? Was her father tending to her while she was sick?
Wait, how did she get sick?
