65: Distracted
"Will you care to explain why?" she asked. But her father gave her an apologetic glance, saying she will not get her answer.
Her eyes narrowed as her throat worked. She wanted to say something. Anything.
She wanted to argue; to make him spit the secrets that he was hiding from her. But beyond those wanting feelings, she was weary. She didn't want this.
She knows that the moment she speaks her mind, they will have an argument again. And she didn't want that. She wanted her father back. She wants the person she trusted.
But circumstances were poisoning their relationship. And all she could do is swallow her protests and look away.
Forcing her father to give the thing he wasn't willing to give was not an option for her.
And knowing how stubborn her father was, she clearly wouldn't get it without a fight.
