Today was the school's Saturday lecture and the students who performed higher than 70% on average were all gathered together in the classes on the highest floors. At one class in particular, Joao sat next to Mothusi, the student council's secretary who called himself the AI dragon. Most people just called him Monty.
Their lecture was usually a short career council session and then since they are a responsible crop of students. They will be left alone to their own devices, some study, some sleep, some talk, and some get amused by the fact that the student council secretary is talking to someone.
"And so you ran away?" Monty smirked at Joao.
"We've been through this already yesterday."
"But I don't recall it being given the focus it deserves." Monty scratched his head and looked at the ceiling. "That's right, it wasn't given any focus and of all people should be the most concerned you were basically faced with the imposter and you let him go."
"How was I supposed to know that there would be more than one mole? Besides, it wasn't until yesterday we gave our report that you guys told us that there is a sure fire way of knowing and finding the informant." Joao flailed his hands and turned to face Monty.
"You should have asked. Just who in their right mind would walk into a mission without gathering any necessary information?"
Joao looked away again and forcefully turned a page on the book in front of him.
"You can be mad all you want, but that still won't change the fact that you also ran away to save your own life neglecting your other teammates." Monty said as he poked Joao with a ruler.
'I don't have to respond, I made a smart move. He is just trying to get under my skin, I can be a bigger person, I am a bigger person.' Joao said continuously in his mind.
"You are a coward, a big fat shameless coward." Monty continued to poke Joao with the ruler as he chanted.
"I am not a coward, that was the best move and if you were in my position you would have gone by it too. Had we all been caught who would have come back to warn you on the specifics, you wouldn't even think that there was an operation being run in one of our buildings."
"Excuses, excuses. Do you know why Divinity is referred to as a family and not a gang even by our rivals? It's because we are a family, we are all brothers and sisters. On Monday when King was told that the student council had been taken hostage he was ready to pay any price to get them back, even planting drugs…" Monty covered his mouth quickly.
Joao quickly turned around to face Monty, "what did you idiots do behind Monkey's back?" He asked with a chuckle of disbelief behind his words.
"I don't, it wasn't…" Monty choked and tripped over his own words. The siren rang and he quickly grabbed his stuff and got out of there.
'If I chase him they might get me in trouble in order to hide their secret. How could they do something that terrible?' That is when Joao remembered that a girl on Monday, the day of the incident also left him with a secret of his own. It was unintentional, he had planned to talk to Monke about it but quickly forgot as soon as his first mission was brought up.
Joao was packing his books when a girl stopped by his desk and started to pick up a conversation with him. As he started to make her laugh even more showed up and he quickly lost track of time. Monty who was staring at Joao from the window had an illegal but still legal device on his hands called a few bodyguards who accompanied Monkey to the hostage exchange.
One of the teachers saw him with a phone but let go of the issue after seeing the student council emblem around his upper arm. Below their classes followed the average achievers and after that was the muscle heads. Monke's class.
Joao was only freed after getting all the girls' numbers in exchange for his, today him Po and Monke were going to open a new karaoke cafe downtown. Monke just had it built and fitted with the right materials.
He wanted it to be a place where young people can hang out and stay away from clubs, casinos, bars and all the other things that were getting them killed. There were two others around the city which he had built and even though they end up getting used as clubs, casinos, and bars, at least there the worst things they can worry about are pregnancies instead of death by overdosing and alcohol fueled brawls.
The karaoke cafes were just called that, Monke wasn't the best name giver and they were the only reopened ones in the city. It allowed the capo to make money without having to break people's legs and it also continued to prove why he gave up his promotion for Monke. (Even though these were Joao's ideas.)
Because it was going to be loaded, a number of bodyguards in electrical cars came to take Monke and legion from school. It was incomplete, within his legion he had Po and a kid nobody had ever seen before. Meaning he needed at least 4 more people in his legion before he was considered a threat.
On the other side of town in the Red Lions' territory, there was a deal going down, there was a curious gang securing a shipment for over 10 silencers. They were in the same building which bordered the Divinity and Red Lions' territory. They were using old cars and the engines were left on.
Curious cops would occasionally sneak in only to find a few people gambling in between the many, many cars. Some who were suspicious enough snuck up to the roof and never returned.
