Joao faded into the shadows as the people who closed the door behind him walked forward. It wasn't a big brain move on his part because they saw someone disappear from their sight.
The only threat they posed now was alerting the others since Joao was confident that they won't find him. He was born and raised in the darkness, although it raises up to attack him every once in a while, it is family.
It embraced and clung on to him tightly, all his breathing and movement disappeared from reality. The two guys who closed the door stopped by the edge of darkness to make sure if they indeed saw someone there. The second guy ended up calling the first a lunatic and vice versa, they laughed it off and left.
Monty had witnessed the whole thing, he saw Joao disappear and lost track of him completely. That was not the case for Joao, he could see Monty perfectly, and slowly he was building up more and more the desire to leap out of the shadow and rip him apart.
Again, he tried his best to keep these desires subsidized, most of his skills were compromised anyway.
The chattering of the attendees ceased as a huge voice roared from the front. It wasn't screaming or anything, it was just naturally loud, from his position Joao couldn't catch everything being said. At first, he thought it was okay since he was not supposed to be here in the first place.
Curiosity ended up getting the better of him and he headed forward within the shadows. At this point, Monty had already given up on looking for him and was now doing his work typing down on his laptop. Nobody knew what he did but whatever it was he always got it done.
The further he was from the conversation the more curious he grew, Joao kept on getting closer and closer. He didn't want to show himself, almost everybody knew him. Which in itself would've have been called a failure had his family been here.
He managed to get closer, not enough to hear everything perfectly but enough to see what was happening. Joao was on top of a truck, a few people away from Monty when he looked into his pc he saw huge chunks of words and chose to look away.
At the front of everybody was Monke and surprisingly enough, Po wasn't there. Instead, Monke was accompanied by the junior executioners. They were face to face with a cyborg, the guy was in a huge coat and giant boots. Joao thought of him as a cyborg because of his mechanical hand holding a briefcase.
This briefcase was covered with brown fur on the outside, the design showed that it came from the inner circle These guys with the cyborg must also be from the inner circle, a part of Divinity maybe? They seemed strong and even more disciplined than those on Monke's side.
And judging by the fact that the two men besides the cyborg were casually displaying silenced rifles not only meant that they looked down on Monke, but it also showed that they can take them out anytime. So were they allies, members of the same side, or just a new party looking to strike a deal?
The last option was not viable because Monke was incapable of handling such cases.
After exchanging a few words with Monke, the cyborg removed its hat and exposed a semi-metallic head. The fleshy part was bald and his face boasted of brown olive skin, his eyes though the generic brown had a foreign feel to them. It wasn't alien though Monke himself might not even be completely African. It was a new world, big and full of surprises.
He handed Monke the case and they shook hands, the other junior executioner also brought forth another black case. Unlike the one covered with fur, this one was opened, and inside was a severed human hand. Monke cringed at the sight of it and the cyborg smiled at him. A few more cases were brought back and forth, these ones were also inspected by Junior Executioners and the cyborg.
It wasn't really anything special, just some silencers, upgraded guns, robotic limbs, and even booster pills. All things listed above illegal unless prescribed by the government otherwise you'd only see them on vigilantes, criminals, and the families.
The meeting dragged on for a while and about an hour later everyone started to move. That is when Joao noticed huge ark angel tattoos on the cyborg's men's necks. 'They really are from the inner circle branch,' his heart started pounding even faster. Sweat trickled down the side of his head as he imagined what they would do to him if he were to get caught.
His fear was made even more violent when the cyborg stopped and looked towards him. The whole gang turned with him, Joao almost slipped on his own sweat but he stood still. Despite the darkness being devious and taunting, he trusted it not to betray him, he was safe in its embrace. The smile that appeared on the cyborg's face seconds later almost crushed this trust.
It looked away and left, both Joao and Monke sighed, Monke tired and Joao relieved. Everyone with cases on their person headed to the trucks to load them up, something didn't feel right though. 'How are they going to know what goes where?' Joao thought to himself seconds before he heard a click and saw a much brighter light come on.
Something hitting the ground alerted the formerly quiet room and sent them looking, asking questions, and moving about nervously.
"Get to work! It must be a cat or something." The vice president of the student council who was standing next to Monty called out.
Monty was still looking around curiously for Joao, he knew that it was impossible for him to have escaped. The garage hadn't even been opened yet. He couldn't find him and everything defused.
