Chapter 24 - Part Asian

About an hour and thirty minutes had passed since their arrival at their destination. Joao had expected to rid of the event quickly because of Monke's love of privacy but due to some technical delays, it seemed like this would come to take forever.

He sat on a red couch in the VIP area facing inward at the disc jokey's table, there stood Monty and a few other men in black suits. Among them were some repairmen. Joao snarled every time Monty looked at him, he knew that Monty could probably fix the table without any help and so seeing him boss over some slow workers almost pushed him over the edge.

He reached out and brought back a half-full glass of some clearly yet bubbly liquid from the table in front of him, he shook the glass lightly took a tiny sip. His muscles tightened and his face came together in the center.

Joao set the glass aside and reached for the bottle across the table to examine it. Although the bottle was on his face he couldn't read, his mind was elsewhere. After the journey to the other side of the piece of furniture, his muscles screamed. They reminded him of the near fruitless torture Monke had put them through yesterday.

The thought of Monke sent him astray again, in him he had found an unusual hero. It didn't last for long, his body was demanding attention as of this moment. He regularly exercised so he didn't know what could've possibly caused this much pain.

That is when it hit him, he never actually had a person as strong as Monke hit him before. Immediately he regretted his decision a little bit, his arms and thighs were throbbing and every bit sent a message to his mind. Give up, you're fine the way you are.

It was actually something Monke said to him before, that he was denying his own strength. It was also kind of a chore picking out what advice from Monke to take seriously and which one to cast aside as sheer stupidity.

Monke this, Monke that. Joao was furious with himself for letting someone without even half of his brain rule his thoughts. He zoned back into reality and read the bottle in his hands.

Flavors of the soil

10% Apple juice

A little bit of paradise in a bottle

'Well, I tasted a little bit of hell in every sip. How about that?' He thought and pouted to his reflection on the glass bottle. Suddenly some chuckles stole his attention from the bottle. He looked up and saw a group of girls stealing glances at him and having a joyous giggle with one another.

Joao tried to smile off his previous pout at the bottle but only got the girls enjoying themselves a bit too much.

'1, 2 there are three of them,' he looked down on the table and noticed some cutlery. It was prepared for a safe and nice time. All of the spoons, forks, and knives were blunt, but Joao had ways of making them useful. The plates, paper, and by them were napkins with rings tying them down neatly.

He didn't hate that this was the first thing he brought to attention when he noticed people staring in his direction. It was in his blood, his safety above all else. That and there was something he was trying to suppress, his bloodlust. Although he gave into it from time to time like now when he was ensuring that there was a way of getting rid of those girls. He still tried his best to act like it didn't exist.

Awkwardly, Joao put the bottle down. He tried to set it further but it ended up within his reach. He took a few deep breaths and his mind went back to thinking, it was no longer about his body, Monke, or the musicless cafe launch, it was about his surroundings.

He leaned back on the big red couch and started to feel just how much space there was. Suddenly the bottle which he once thought was nearby was miles away, there was space between his knees and the table. 'Okay,' he thought with a smile.

He kicked his legs about and started to forget all else momentarily.

"Wow, you look even prettier up close."

Glass breaking followed by three violently frightened screams caused Monty and the others to look back at the red couch.

Joao's leather glove was tightened around the upper half of a now broken juice bottle, just barely an inch away from the girl's eye. He quickly retracted his unconscious attack and threw the shattered piece away.

"I am so sorry," he lowered his head quickly after uttering his apology. 'How did they end up by my side that quickly? I could've killed her.' He thought as he nervously shook in place, not knowing what was awaiting him. He could still feel Monty's gaze mounted on him.

"Oh," the girl said in a snobbish yet still childish voice. "It's okay sweetie we're used to seeing this kind of stuff." She grabbed Joao and tilted his face to her lightly, his cheeks were flushed and he still tried to smile.

"Oh...my...gosh she looks prettier up close." She said as she squeezed Joao's cheeks. He tried to retaliate another one from behind grabbed his hair and started to harass it.

"Your skin is so light and soft." She paused and grabbed his hands. "You have to tell me your secret. How do you keep like this, which brand do you use?"

"I just look like this, I'm part Japanese."

"Really!" She exclaimed. "Yeoboseyo!"

Joao paused and stared at her with a puzzled face. "Just how much television do you watch?"

She quickly covered her mouth, "did I say it wrong?"

He shook his head lightly and a sigh followed after.

"By the way, why are you wearing boys' uniform?" The girl from behind asked.

"Why wouldn't I? I'm a boy aren't I?"

"Well, it's kind of hard to tell when you're far away which is why we came a little closer. Although not much, I can tell that you might be a boy." Said the girl in front.

Before Joao could answer a slight shadow was cast over them. As he rotated his face to check who it was he noticed that one of the girls had retreated to further distance. The three people left on the couch looked up to see Monke holding a silver briefcase.

"I always knew that you were good at making friends," Monke said.

"They found and attacked me because of your incompetency."

"What did I do now?"

"What's in the bag?"

"It's a golden revolver." As soon as Monke said that the girls took off and bowed to Joao on their way out, he waved nervously before wearing a serious look directing it to Monke.

"Do you really have a golden revolver in that giant bag?"

"That's what I said, but I don't know if we can call it that. It's more of a mini machine gun?"

"That's like one of the loudest guns in existence, are you…"

"Yes, Shorty. It's used for excursions." Monty said from behind and mask and black shades with a pc raised to his chin.

"Aren't you a bit too scrawny to be picking a fight with me?"

"Who are you calling…"

"Ladies, ladies. Calm your tits," Po said as he strolled in dancing, the music was picking up and he was feeling himself. On his face, he wore his signature grin and had his eyes slightly closed as if the environment took away the immersion from the house drums already dominating the air. "You guys are basically the same person, why can't you just get along?"

"NO, WE ARE NOT? They both exclaimed.

"I'm smarter than him." Monty pointed at Joao.

"In your dreams, skin, and bones."

They continued exchanging insults until Monke and Po left, having nothing more to say to each other the boys also scattered. Joao heading to the toilets and Monty to the DJs' table.
