James opened the carriage door and helped me in. Once we began driving he asked one last time, "Are you sure about this?" I nodded my head and answered, "I've never been more sure about anything in my life James!" He nodded and signaled the driver to keep going in the direction of my families mansion. Once we pulled up it was nearly sun down. Just enough time to convince my family to let me turn, get everyone together, and do the ritual! We got to the front door and I opened it wide to see my father and grandmother in the kitchen eating. "It's about time you've come home Amelia. You've had your father and I worried sick all day!" My grandmother scoffed. I kept my stern expression and ignoring her comment I said, "My mother died to keep me safe. She let herself die for me to live! What kind of daughter would I be if I died after everything she went through. Grandmother, you said it yourself, I'm more at risk as the last human in the family than I would be as a werewolf. I'd be able to keep myself safer without you all around at every moment. I could even protect you all if it comes down to it. But I know one thing's for sure, I can't just do nothing. I want to turn, tonight!" My father was shocked, but grandmother wasn't. She knows it's the only way. Father, in an angry tone, said, "Not happening! You don't need to live with this curse!" I shook my head and continued my argument, "You have to let me do this father. You can't keep me behind closed doors for the rest of my life. You just have to let me live it with the choices I make, not the ones you make for me!" A tear ran down his face as he said, "I don't want to lose you Amelia..." I nodded my head with a hurt expression and replied, "You can't lose me father, I will always find my way back to you...that's a promise!" My father looked at grandmother, seeking her approval, she turned to me and asked, "Is this what you really want Amelia?" I nodded without a reply. Grandmother turned back to my father and gave him an assuring smile. He walked over from the opposite side of the table and gave me a hug. He knows he has to die, he knows this will be the last heart to heart moment we'll have together! I hugged him back and said, "I love you dad!" He smiled sincerely and began walking out the door. Right before I left I turned to James and said, "Next time I see you I'll be a wolf. Until tomorrow, will you stay here and wait for me?" James just smiled and gave me a gentle push out the door. I began on foot shortly behind my father and grandmother. We walked far out into the woods where I saw a circle outlined by poles. Everyone in my family was there. "This is where we all meet up during full moons. It's where the ritual will take place. But we must hurry, the moon has almost risen!" My grandmother exclaimed. She got on the ground and dug up a set of matches, lighting each pole sticking from the ground. "What exactly am I to be doing?" I asked, confused. My father cut in, "You need to stand in the center of the circle, then your grandmother will take a little bit of everyone's blood from the pack. And the last thing you'll do is right before you turn you'll grow your wolf fangs. You have to kill the person of which you love the most. It's supposed to keep a good spirit at heart when you turn so you don't become a savage." As the last bit left his lips my father had a sorrowful face. He wasn't afraid to die it didn't seem, but it's as if he didn't want me to do this. As my grandmother walked around in the circle of wolves surrounding me she took each of their blood by cutting a small slit in the palm of their hand. Which I noticed healed incredibly quickly. After that she put it in a bowl and said, "This is the part I left out." She grabbed my hand and cut into it as well. Then lit a match and set it on fire. Once the fire put out she picked up the bowl and dumped it over my head. The blood, raining down my body, it was hot and disturbing. I didn't dare move though...I wanted this...I kept telling myself. And as the moon hit its apex at 8:00 everyone's bones began breaking in ways I didn't know possible. It looked terribly painful. Now I know why father didn't want this for me. I felt a sharp pain in the top and bottom of my gums. A few short seconds later and I had sets of fangs in my mouth. My dad and I shared a longing look as he said, "It's okay. I'm ready..." a tear ran down my cheek and right before I did it I whispered, "I love you dad!" And before he could get another word out I bit into the side of his neck and drained every last drop of his bitter blood. Then I collapsed. My ankle broke! My wrist following that, I got on my hands and knees as I felt my spine breaking upward, making horrifying crackling noises. I screamed in pain, but I absorbed it to make it go away quicker. After a few moments I felt everything stop...time, pain, movement. Everything was...
calm! Then I saw it, the full moon, my family almost in yheir form standing before me. They lowered their heads which left me puzzled. "Because I'm new?" I thought. Then I heard something, like I could hear my grandmother say something but she wasn't actually talking. "You're the true alpha my dear!" Is the last thing I remember...
