Chapter 4 - Eating Dinner With The Cute Demon Girl

Hakaku and Damaru soon returned to their apartment.

It was around 8:00 PM and Hakaku would now make dinner for him and his unexpected guest.

"Do you have any food preferences?" Damaru asked upon entering his apartment and opening the fridge, stocked with food as a gift from the landlord "Let's see... I have sausages and salad... I probably have some more stuff in the cabinets."

"Well, usually I eat what I can get. I don't really know what a sausage is." Damaru replied, confused, "Make me you're yummiest meal, please!"

'Didn't expect a demon to say "yummiest", but I guess she's not exactly a normal demon." Hakaku thought as he grabbed ingredients to make they're meal and began cooking.

After fifteen minutes Hakaku had prepared a salad, rice, and sausages, along with sizzling soda.

"Thank you for the food." Damaru said before digging in.

"Thank you for the fo-" Hakaku began saying, but then noticed how Damaru was eating her food.

She quite literally had dug her head into the rice and was tearing apart the sausage.

She was eating like a wild animal. She was eating like a demon.

As she bit the sausage, Hakaku saw Damaru's fangs.

Hakaku wasn't scared though. He just warmly smiled and laughed it off as he began eating.

"So... By the way..." Hakaku began saying to Damaru, who was still munching on her sausages, "What is the land you come from called."

"What? Oh, I assumed you knew. It's called Ampharas." Damaru replied.

"Well, this is a different world you know."

"Oh,... right." Damaru said, embarrassed at her forgetting the previous events, "I kind of forgot. He-he..."

"I don't want to pressure you. Let's just eat out food, OK?" Hakaku said and smiled.

"Y-yeah... Sure." Damaru said and smiled back.

And so Hakaku and Damaru finished their meals.

Afterward, Hakaku invited Damaru over to sit on the couch that Hakaku had installed that morning and they began watching television.

"Wow, is this a Magic Projector? But, they're so expensive!" Damaru said surprised about the TV.

"Not exactly, but you are correct about it being expensive. Luckily this one came with the apartment. It's called a TV and it's connected to a satellite that can broadcast live TV shows and other things!"

"That's just a Magic Projector!"

"S-sure." Hakaku said, given up on convincing Damaru otherwise.

Hakaku was flicking through channels when he came across a show about puppies.

"What are those? They're so puffy and cute!" Damaru said and ran up to the TV.

"Those are puppies. They really are cute. At this point in human history, they've basically been bred to be cute. But it's best not to think about that." Hakaku said, followed by an award laugh.

"Can we watch this?" Damaru asked.

"Sure." Hakaku replied.

Hakaku and Damaru watched the program for about half an hour, before switching to a news channel and then turning the TV off.

"We should probably head to sleep, but... My bed's still not constructed." Hakaku said, "Hey Damaru would you mind helping me build it."

"You're letting me live with you for the time being, so it's really the least I can do. So yes, I will happily help you!"

"In that case... Let's get started!"

Hakaku and Damaru began building the bed.

Hakaku wasn't good at reading instructions and Damaru couldn't read at all, so it took them longer than expected, but they were able to assemble the bed before 11:00 PM.

"OK! I think we're done!" Hakaku said as he swept of sweat from his forehead, "But wait... I don't really have two beds."

"And?" Damaru replied, not understanding the problem.

"I'm not sure if we can sleep in the same bed... I can sleep on the couch!"

"O-Oh. No! Hakaku, this is you're home, I should sleep on the couch."

"But I don't want my guest sleeping on the couch!" Hakaku said, 'Especially not if it's a cute girl!'

Hakaku and Damaru went back and forward until they decided what to do.

"We can just sleep in the same bed." Damaru bluntly said to Hakaku.

"O...OK." Hakaku replied as he blushed.

And so Hakaku and Damaru got in bed turned off the lights and the night ended with a:

"Good night."
