Seth's POV
******************
I never understood the point in going to these celebratory balls, but it's expected of me. Every year the same thing happens. Arguments here and there, sex and sins committed throughout the night.
This was the one time of year where everyone could interact peacefully; to break the peace was to disrespect the treaty and that's the last thing you want. Almost every person here held importance, most of which are allied with each other.
It's only been an hour and I can't find anything here to satisfy my boredom. Women surrounded me like I was the only male here, and although all alluring, none of them picked my interest.
I'm used to it, not to sound cocky or anything. I'm a vampire, it's just always been like that. I try to get away from the crowd of girls that are slowly starting to confine me when I see her.
Her obsidian black hair loosely tied up in a bun; her pensive yellow eyes captivating. The dress she wore was a deep shade of crimson red, and perfectly complimenting her lightly tanned skin. Her curvaceous body fit snug in the tight dress, allowing me to see every crevice.
But it wasn't the dress, or how tempting she looked in the bright lighting of the ballroom that managed to capture my attention, it was the restraints on her body.
Her silver cuffs started from her wrist to her mid-forearm. In the eyes of others, many would think it to be a piece of jewelry but the design and the words inscribed into them told me otherwise.
But it still wasn't the restraints bound to her wrists that struck my curiosity. It was the matching mask she wore on the bottom half of her face. Only being able to see her flawless skin from her eyes and up stirred questions in my head. Her mask had no openings either. Just a silver plate across her face.
With my curiosity fully peeked I made my way over to her, I didn't even know what to say.
"Excuse me, miss."
Silence. She just stared at me with those vibrant eyes, no change in emotion, as if evaluating me. Damn tough crowd.
"Would you like to dance?"
"I don't dance with strangers." Her voice was so velvety and naturally seductive.
"My name is Seth Keshnick, now I'm not a stranger."
Although I couldn't see her facial expressions I knew she was amused. Being a vampire allowed me to feel others like that.
There were no words as she led me to the dance floor. I couldn't help but smile at her independence.
The beautiful stream of melodies played and sync to our dancing, she had my complete attention.
"What is your name?"
She looked at me with shock and confusion.
"I'm a vampire, I can communicate with telepathy. I thought it would be more suitable, you're not much of a talker."
"Your right, I don't like talking. Why me?"
Damn this girl.
"I was curious, I've never seen a woman like yourself. I have no motive, just thought you were a breath of fresh air compared to everyone else here."
Her eyebrows scrunched together, I could feel how uncomfortable she was.
I didn't bother saying anything else while we danced, she was vague and mysterious. And although not much was happening I found bliss in dancing with her.
The day carried on and we eventually left the ballroom to see the eclipse outside. She gazed over the garden below so mesmerized by its simplistic beauty, and it wasn't long before the eclipse took place.
The sun and the moon; polar opposites coming together for only a short kiss before they are ripped from each other again.
As they went their separate ways the sky grew brighter, and as I looked over to the girl, I was able to see just how beautiful she really was.
I couldn't help but push a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. With hesitation I held her body to mine.
"You're beautiful," I said lightly planting a kiss on her forehead.
Instantly she pushed me away with just enough force to put good distance between us. Did I say something wrong?
"It would be in your best interest to stay away from me or you might just get yourself killed." Her voice was laced with so much malice and hate, it hurt.
Cold, ice cold. She turned around and walked away, it wasn't long before someone's scream in the distance filled the ballroom.
I quickly sped off to see what was happening and it was none other than the notorious Lord Alec, one of many vampire lords. But what shocked me was surprisingly not the horrific blood scene before me but her by his side, emotionless.
I stepped forward to behold the sight. On the floor was the right hand to the Vampire King, and lord Alec had just killed him.
It all happened so fast. Guards stormed him from every angle, but Alec took them down one by one. Soon even his own men had joined the fight.
I took off my suit jacket, I needed to put an end to this before more people died. I started to charge at Alec but she stepped in front of him.
Was she with him?
She now stood in front of Alec in a protective stance waiting for anyone to come near him. She looked at me and I could feel her distaste and what felt like...fear.
Was she scared of Alec, and maybe he was using her?
At this point it didn't even matter. If I didn't act soon everyone in here would be killed.
