Seth's POV
***************************
"I can't let you hurt him Seth."
"You...you work for him?"
Her eyebrows scrunched together, and I could feel her distaste.
"It's complicated. Walk away now and you don't die today."
I internally laughed, this girl doesn't know who I am. "What is your name?"
She hesitates, "Telum."
I had heard stories of Lord Alec's most powerful weapon but have never actually seen it. Telum, a name that struck fear in the hearts of many just by uttering it's name. Stories told that Alec became untouchable once it was in his possession, but I never thought that his weapon would be...alive.
"Telum, Alec's most powerful weapon. Your thee Telum!"
There were no words, but then again it had to be true.
"Alec must be stopped, and I guess I have to go through you to do that."
Without hesitation I sprinted towards her. No doubt she is skilled, and if the stories are true; she managed to kill and destroy everything in a city in under 5 minutes.
Power like that, should not be underestimated.
I wasn't even able to get 10 ft close to her before blood from dead bodies shot around me. They created a tornado-like vortex around her.
Reaching my hand out and touching the swirling twister might've been the worst mistake of my life.
My hand recoiled in pain, as I held in close to my body. My fingertips had been burned off and only nubs remained. There was no way I'd get to her without going to bigger lengths.
Seeing now that my hand had regenerated, I harnessed my internal powers and before me my unholy weapon appeared. A long crusader's sword with my name and crest burned into the metal lay in my hand. It's black flames illuminate like smoke.
Without any hesitation I stroked my sword at the bloody twister and sure enough it disappeared. Not giving her a second to react I swung at the mask on her face and the cuffs on her wrists.
It wasn't long before the metals slid off her body. What I didn't expect was for her to drop to the ground and try to put them back on.
She was panicked as she tried to put and mend the pieces back together. Once again the blood from around us created a tornado and this time I was close enough to be in the middle with her.
"Telum...what are-what are you doing?"
She didn't say anything as she kept trying to fix the pieces. Her obsidian black hair hid her face from mine.
Lowering down to her level I reached for her hands.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!"
I was in awe. Her once pensive yellow eyes now bled a crimson red. Her plump pink lips couldn't hide the long set of canine teeth that threatened anyone who came near her.
Was she...a vampire?
While she was distracted I put both my index and middle fingers to each side of her temple before she could react. She was resisting my mind but I needed to know what she was, who she was.
************************
I was surrounded by mirrors and chained down to the floor by my wrists, neck, and ankles. There was nothing but silence, and nothing around me but my own reflection.
One by one the mirrors started to crack and as they cracked an indescribable pain shot through my body.
There was no longer a reflection of myself in the mirrors. Instead were blurred images and clips that played like a movie. In each one there was the same girl, but her face was covered by a white mask.
I was overwhelmed with emotions and thoughts I had no control over.
Anger, malice, anguish, helplessness.
Eventually the pain faded. The mirrors stopped playing images and instead reflected a young girl with silky pure white hair, golden eyes, and flawless tan skin. The same girl from the images.
One of the mirrors rippled like water as the girl stepped through the mirror and walked towards me, her eyes were hollow and distant.
She placed one of her hands over my heart. The pain instantly returned along with the overwhelming emotions.
This time images and memories that weren't mine took over my mind.
They were clear and crisp, so vivid I felt like I was living them.
"Can you feel it? The burning in your throat as if swallowing fire; the need to extinguish the flames that claw at your humanity so much so you'd do anything to relieve yourself? Do you feel the anger, the anguish overwhelming your every sense? Can you see them like I do? The lifelessness in their eyes reflecting that of your soul? DO YOU!"
My eyes rolled to the back of my head, the images in my mind so disturbing; my body trembled beneath the binding chains. The girl's whimpers could be heard as she applied more pressure to my chest.
"Can you hear their murderous cries, their pleas for help? Telling you to stop, to have mercy. I know you do. Tell me what do you see...WHAT DO YOU SEE!"
"Blood....people, families, children...you but I can't see your face. I can see images, memories playing in my head like a movie. I want to escape, push them back, but I can't. There's so much death....so much loss. I can feel you. I can take you away from this despair, I can save you - I...."
She removed her hand from my chest, "you know nothing of despair!! NOTHING!!"
The mirrors completely shatter and I open my eyes. The once clean and flawless girl stood before me now; her whole dress ripped and bloodied along with her hands, arms, and feet.
Bruises and welts were covering her frail body. I was horrified, her previous image in the mirror a mirage from what lies behind.
"You do not know the magnitude of what I've done, what I've been through, you don't know me, you don't know my pain. This is but a mere taste of what I feel, what I see...what I've done."
My heart broke for her, "I know but maybe I can help, I can set you free so you don't have to live like this! You can be happy!"
"I will never be happy, I don't...I don't deserve to be happy."
The girl starts to walk off into the darkness. I call for her not knowing her name in hopes that she'll hear my plea. It wasn't long before everything went black and I was sucked back into reality.
****************
My mind comes back to reality and Telum's body falls to the floor along with the tornado of blood. I was horrified, not knowing how to react. The little girl...was Telum; I'm sure of it.
Sudden anger and rage filled me knowing what I've seen.
Alec destroyed her, manipulated her, murdered her. And for what...power? He was a fool, and he's about to be a dead one.
I didn't bother hesitating any longer. Picking up my unholy sword I sprinted to Alec. He saw me coming and summoned his sword right in time as both weapons clashed together.
"How could you do that to her, to her family!? Your nothing but a disgusting lowlife, you don't deserve your status or your meaningless power!"
Back and forth our swords clinked together; both of us trying to end one another.
"You and the rest of the Lords are fools. You flaunt the small amount of power you have and it's nothing compared to mine. We could rule the world with her, and everyone would be forced to bow down to our very feet. Don't you want that!!"
"NO," I said before I slashed his sword out of his hands. "That's a fool's dream, to rule the world. What would that prove, what would you gain besides bloodshed and an ego. I want none of it, Alec. You are a disgrace."
"Then kill me," he said with that cocky smile.
But I couldn't. I couldn't force myself to kill my brother even after what he's done. Even if I did kill him, he would just come back to life. FUCK!
I lifted my sword away from his throat, clenching the handle so hard it left my knuckles white.
He started to laugh, "how pathetic. You never were the violent type, even under dangerous circumstances. You should've killed me a long time ago, maybe our mother, father, and dear sister would still be alive. Maybe even sweet Lizzy."
That's it, he had gone too far. Without second thought I plunged my sword deep into his throat, watching him bleedout. He wasn't dead unfortunately but it would take him a while to regenerate.
My sword dissolved in my hands into a whisper of black smoke. The ballrooms, once glorious and expensive beauty, were now shrouded in blood and empty bodies.
I'd have someone take care of this tomorrow. For now I had to take Telum.
I walked over to her and gently scooped her into my arms. Her red dress was damp and stained in blood though you wouldn't notice it was. Her breathing was shallow, beads of sweat rolled down her face.
What was she? Though I saw her memories the images of her and her family were blurred whilst the rest was so vivid. Why her?
********************
The drive from the venue to my home wasn't far, but I didn't want to risk Alec finding her. Instead I decided to take a plane to my remote mansion in Alaska. It was protected by an invisible barrier, and to others looked like any other mountain.
We arrived about 8 hours later and I was greeted by the staff who managed the place while I was gone. I had arranged for a doctor to clean up Telum and to notify me when she was done.
Heading to my study I pulled out my phone and made a call. I needed every single file on Telum, well Mae.
Where she came from, what she was, who her family was.
It wasn't long before exhaustion overcame me and I made my way up to the room she was held in.
Knocking on the door, I walked in.
"Hello Lord Keshnick. I'm almost done with her check up."
"No need Lilly, you can continue tomorrow. Sleep well."
"You as well my Lord."
I walked over to her now sleeping body, even in sleep those eyebrows were knitted together, and her body was tense. She had been changed into more comfortable clothes, and had a wet rag over her forehead.
"Who are you, Mae?" I whispered aloud to myself. Another question for another day. Deciding to finally head in for the night I kissed her forehead and turned out the light.
"Good night, my sweet."
