Milo's POV
She was sitting right in front of me, waiting for me to give orders or ask questions. But the truth is, I have nothing to ask her. I don't need her here. But I wanted her to be here, rather than be with another man in his office. I'd have to ask Mia about the relationship between these two. I needed confirmation.
I just felt very uncomfortable when I watched her from my window enter into Ziko's office.
Yes, I was on first name bases with him. We used to be friends, a long time ago. When we were just teenagers. We stopped being friends because we fought over a girl or rather he claimed I stole a girl he liked. And if I'm being honest, I never knew he had feelings for this girl. He didn't make any move and I did. Or should I say, the girl made a move on me and I succumbed. Honestly, I didn't see anything wrong with that. She was just a fling any way.
He started working here while I was away. He knew my father owned this company, so I was surprised when I found him here. He must have needed the job badly. He was a very hardworking and intelligent guy, so it's no wonder our company chose to employ him.
From the first day Lily got back from her leave and I saw the two of them together, I knew history was about to repeat itself. Just that this time, I think he's the one trying to steal her from me.
But, how do I even explain that?
She's the woman of my dreams. My dream girl.
I'm not crazy, let me explain. I know I just met her yesterday. But that wasn't my first time seeing her.
How do I explain this without sounding crazy?
I've been having strange dreams for months now. It's part of the reason why I decided to come home.
There was this girl I was always seeing in my dreams. She kept running away from me in those dreams, and I kept chasing after her. At some point, we became friends. I don't know if you can call what we have friendship, but she was no longer scared of me. It always seemed like I had two lives at the same time. It's stupid, I know. But that was how it felt. The only time I wasn't dreaming about her was when I wasn't sleeping. If it takes long for me to fall asleep, I find her waiting for me. So I always made sure to sleep early every night. Except for last night, when I couldn't sleep a wink. I mean, how could I? I met her in person yesterday, and it wasn't a dream. It was real. This dream girl looks exactly like Lily.
"Sir, sorry, Milo, what do you want me to help you with?" she asked nervously.
She was obviously curious as to why she was here.
I've been staring hard at her. She was starting to get uncomfortable.
When I saw her for the first time in the meeting hall yesterday, I couldn't believe my eyes. She was gawking at me, but I tried my best not to stare back only throwing glances at her once in a while. I had millions of thought running through my head. I was supposed to give a speech during the meeting but I had to cancel it because I wasn't thinking straight. At first, I thought I was dreaming. I thought it was all a dream.
Then I saw her with Ziko after the meeting, talking too intimately for my liking. Coworkers weren't supposed to be that close. Maybe I was just being paranoid, but I still didn't like the idea of them being close so I decided to call her into my office.
I kept wondering why she was staring at me so hard. Does she have the same dreams too? That question was on my mind through out the day.
But after having that conversation I had with her yesterday, I knew they were just dreams and was sure she didn't have the same dreams like I do. She was nervous at first, but she got comfortable once she started talking about work. I had to admit, I couldn't even form words, so I just kept on staring at her while she was speaking trying to find something that connects her with the girl in my dreams apart from her physical features.
"Erhmm, how's work today?" I asked her and winced internally.
Really Milo? That's what you could come up with after staring at her for minutes? Come on man!
She was staring back at me dumbfoundedly. She's probably confused right now.
She had the same expression she had on her face when I told her she could call me Milo. Honestly, the only reason I called her into my office the second time yesterday was just to see her face. I wanted her to say something that'll indicate that she had the same dreams. I just wanted to be in her presence.
But instead, she laughed. She laughed when I told her my name. I still don't know the reason for her laughter even though she obviously lied it was because she remembered a joke she shared with Mia. She was mysterious even in reality.
"It's been good, the usual" she replied after noticing I had nothing more to say.
I've always had my ways with girls. I didn't need to look for words to say. It came naturally. Girls fall at my feet. They were the ones who try to seduce me. They do all the flirting. It's no hidden fact that I am a good looking man. I turned down most of the girls, not because they weren't beautiful enough but because I didn't have any sort of connection with them. Some were lucky enough to make it to my bed, while others were not. They called me arrogant. But I think I just know what I want, and rejected the once I didn't. It was no arrogance, or was it?
But here I was sitting in front of Lily and didn't have words to say. An idea formed quickly in my head, and I decided to go through with it. I wasn't going to look dumb in front of her. Sorry Lily, you are going to be stressed out because of this. But a man has got to keep his dignity.
"Here, sort them accordingly in respect to their dates and I need to have access to them before the end of today" I said handing her a pile of files I knew will take hours for her to sort.
