Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Flower Shop

"Well, here we are!" stated Shon as he pulled into my empty driveway.

"Yay!" shouted Coen from the back as he opened the door for him and Curtis to get out of the car. I solemnly opened my door, and slowly stepped out. Good thing they told me that they took the house key with them this time because I now have one. I opened the shop for everyone to come inside. Curtis and Coen ran to the backyard to the beach and Shon came in with our food.

"They really did leave." I said softly.

"I guess they did. Oh well, they will miss out on you winning then." Shon said, trying to lighten the mood.

"Winning? What if I can't clear my mind?" I asked worriedly.

"Don't worry, everything will work out," Shon put the food on the counter and put his hands on my shoulders to comfort me. He was always good at doing that. "Coen! Curtis! Come inside and eat!" Shon hollered from inside. They both ran inside, still full of energy. They ate quickly and left as soon as they came.

"Well that happened." I said, shocked.

"Yeah, that's how it usually goes," pointed out Shon.

"Oh, okay then."

"So when do you want to start talking about, you know?" Shon asked.

"Whenever you're ready probably." I answered.

"Then now I guess." Shon replied.

"Okay. So maybe after school we can work together? And I can ask one of our neighbors to work while I'm at school, or we just have to have it closed while I'm at school." I said, continuing to ramble on while writing down things. "Of course I'll have to pay you, and that neighbor so I'll have to get another paying job, and then…" I was still thinking and writing while Shon interrupted me.

"Woah, woah, woah. What about your surf practices and your tournament coming up soon?"

"Guess I'll have to stop it. There's only a month left anyway, so it's no big deal." I responded.

"No, you're not doing that. You're not paying me, and you're not getting another job. You already have enough on your plate, you don't need more." Shon said as he looked at my list and made some corrections. "There, all better." Shon said as he slid the new plan in my range of view.

The list said, "Don't worry. Working weekends and weekdays after school is perfect, no need to pay, or job, or not surfing, Lyr."

"You sure?" I questioned doubtfully.

Shon gave me that nod of his.

"Okay then," I said as I started eating my food. "Or do you want me to heat yours up, Shon?"

"I'm good, thanks Lyr."

After a week or so we got used to the new schedule at work, school, and for me surfing. My tournament is this Saturday and I'm going shopping with the gang for a new swimsuit for my tournament.
