Chapter 53 - Marquis Youngle’s Mansion

"It's fine. I'm already used to it." Chu Yue might have gone with the motion and lay down, but she spoke faintly.

The monk frowned. It was clear that he did not agree with her not treating her body with importance.

"My life has never been worth a lot of money. You do not need to worry about me, Master." Chu Yue cast a glance at the bowl of medicine and looked at the monk before she said those words.

'He's a good monk. It's a pity that he's a casanova. We don't share a fate together.'

The monk said nothing. He blew on the medicine to cool it before he helped her up so that she could drink it. Chu Yue drank the medicine and said, "Master, I'm going to leave now."

"You still have to cook," the monk said after he cast a glance at her.

"Master, please hire someone else." Chu Yue shook her head.

She intended to end things with the monk, so how could she still come to cook for him?

The monk sucked in a deep breath and said, "I'll pretend that I didn't hear what you said last night."

It was only then that Chu Yue remembered. Last night, before she fainted, he had said those words as well. "I don't care whether you've heard it or not. I already said it."

"Were all the things you said in the past just to appease me and make me happy?" The monk looked at her.

"You know whether I have been trying to appease you. I've already given you all that I can give you. Even if you want my life, I will regret nothing." Chu Yue laughed miserably.

Even if they were about to part ways, she would not let the monk feel good about it. Even if he wanted to have multiple women by his side, she insisted on becoming the apple of his eye, a presence that he would not be able to forget!

"To be able to get closer to you, I have done a lot of shameless things. I washed your feet for you, massaged you, and even shamelessly threatened you by using my anger. While we still did not have a legitimate relationship, I came over to stay under the same roof as you. All of it was just so that we could become a normal, married couple."

Chu Yue smiled in a self-deprecating manner. "It is just as you said. All my declarations of love were to appease you, and in the end, I ended up falling in love with you while I tried to flatter you."

The monk hugged her and sighed softly. "Since you like me, how can you bear to leave me?"

"Master, I like you. I really like you." Chu Yue hugged the handsome monk's neck and wept.

Chu Yue went away, leaving behind the monk sitting on the bed in a dumbfounded manner. He remembered the words she said before she stood up. "I might like you, but I have already told you my thoughts clearly last night."

The monk felt a little annoyed. Didn't the woman have enough? He had already given her so much.

When Chu Yue returned to Shangqing Temple, she saw Hupo packing up. She was stunned and asked, "Hupo, what are you doing?"

"Milady, we're going to visit the madam today." When Hupo saw her mistress' expression, she said, "Have you forgotten about it?'

She had indeed forgotten about it after she found out that the monk wanted to have multiple wives last night.

Chu Yue nodded and said, "I didn't forget. When are we leaving?"

"I was about to go over to call you. The coachman is already waiting at the foot of the mountain," Hupo said.

"Alright, let's go." Chu Yue nodded.

She went down the mountain with Hupo. Then, they went to the capital. Even if they tried to hurry, a day still passed before they reached the capital.

Chu Yue first brought Hupo to a restaurant to get a room. They had hurried for an entire day, so it was only natural that they should rest after that. She would go and visit her grandmother early the next morning.

When Qin Heng came over that night to bring Chu Yue over so that she could sleep at his place, he found out that there was no one in the house.

The master-servant duo was gone.

"Master, this is the news that the hidden guards just sent." Yingda appeared and handed him a letter.

Qin Heng opened the letter with a frown. When he read it, he learned that the master-servant duo had gone to the capital. He was puzzled and asked, "Why did she go to the capital?

"I think her husband's family is in the capital," Yingda said.

This was what he had heard from Grandmaster Jingmian. Judging by their dialect, they were from the capital.

Qin Heng could not help but say, "She went back to her husband's family?"

"I had the hidden guards keep an eye on her. Once they have news, they will immediately send it." Yindga did not know the answer, so this was all he could say.

There was a cold look in Qin Heng's eyes. The widow was a woman he fancied. Even if her husband's family was still around, he had his methods to bring her back to his side.

Chu Yue did not know that the monk was already thinking about snatching her back.

The master-servant duo slept well. Early the next morning, they had their breakfast and bought some presents before they went to the backdoor of the Jiang family.

That's right, they went to the backdoor, not the front door.

They had come back in secret, so from the moment Chu Yue stepped into the capital, she wore a veil covering her face.

"You want to see the madam? We can't let any random passerby see our madam," the servant in charge of guard duty said in annoyance.

He could not recognize Hupo. After all, he was in charge of guarding the backdoor, not the front door.

Hupo was incredibly angry. She gritted her teeth and said, "Who do you think my mistress is? You're just a servant. How could you be so preposterous?"

Chu Yue removed her veil and cast an indifferent glance at the servant. When he saw her astonishing looks, the servant did not dare to underestimate her. He quickly said, "It appears that I have not been able to recognize you. My apologies, I have been unable to recognize someone great. But I am of a low position, and I have never seen you before, Milady. Please allow me to go in and report your presence."

"You may go," Chu Yue said faintly.

The servant shut the door before hurrying off to make the report.

The news soon traveled to the first wife of the head of the house—Madam Jiang. She was stunned. Then, she frowned a little. "Wasn't she sent to go through spiritual training? Did Prince Qin allow her to come back?"

"I didn't hear about that. I believe that she came back on her own," an old maid said.

"She came back on her own? What is she thinking?!" Madam Jiang scowled.

"It might be that she did not have a good life outside, so she came back to ask for help from the old madam," the old maid made a guess.

"Help?" Madam Jiang chuckled coldly. "I think she came back to anger her grandmother. Send her away. I don't want to see her. The madam has already given all that she can give her. She cannot endure this woman causing trouble to her anymore!"

"Madam, with the girl's personality, she might not go back so easily after she made her decision to run back. Why don't you meet her? It will be just as easy for us to send her away after we learn her goals," the old maid said.

Madam Jiang might have been annoyed, but she also knew that it would not be pleasant if the two women outside caused a ruckus. S"Bring her in."

So Chu Yue entered Marquis Yongle's mansion through the backdoor.

They walked through the alleys as they ventured into the house. No one saw them until they arrived before Madam Jiang.

"Greetings, Auntie," Chu Yue greeted her.

"Remove your veil. Why are you still wearing a veil in front of me?" Madam Jiang said in annoyance.

Chu Yue removed her veil. She had bright eyes, pearly white teeth, and a beautiful face. Even if Madam Jiang did not like this gloomy niece of hers, she had to admit that she had a face that could cause heads to turn.
