"If anyone wonders what is the mystery of the psychic ability. It's all coming at our head." A woman that looks young, like she was in the mid-'20s, pointing her index finger at her head. "The brain emits a strange electromagnetic wave that even scientists can not answer it properly. That's why it is called 'Strange Continues Wave' or 'SCW' in short. In theory, this wave wasn't like a normal EM wave, but it's more like a DNA that has a code on it. These codes represent every psychic ability. If someone emits the same wave from their brain, it means they both have the same ability, that's why esper felt weird after getting closer to a person until they both realize that they have the same ability."
The professor was teaching the students inside the homeroom, and Mathew with his sister, Anais was there too.
What she meant that "SCW" was some sort of a radar on each person to detect every person who has the same power as others. All of those never-ending wave from their head was also the reason why they had the ability to do something supernatural.
It was like magic the full of mysteries and set of rules, but it can explain by science and facts.
"Some theory suggested having the right equipment could change the code and change the wavelength of the SCW. If it's real, then one person could have multiple abilities with each of it were different waves that coming out from their body. At the same time, if it's real with the help of high-tech equipment, they could turn level zero into level three, or even five. By adding more mathematical analysis of every code released each second."
She was explaining things about the esper, and she glanced Mathew at the side of the room, with his head down to the table like he was sleeping while the lecture was running.
She stood up from the chair of her table and keeping her eyes at Mathew with an annoyed expression.
"People who don't possess psychic ability, don't release SCW that much or more likely fading until it erased its own existence." She gradually pulled out a chalk at the chalk box and aiming it at Mathew. "And there's Mathew who was taking a nap while I'm teaching!" She immediately toss the white new chalk like a baseball player who throws the ball at the player who's holding a baseball bat.
It was fast. Superfast!
Everyone reacted at her throwing a chalk.
The chalk flew and hit Mathew at his head.
"Ouch!"
He turned his head up after he gets hit by the chalk-like a ballistic projectile that has been thrown at a far location.
Maybe it was the teacher's ability. Throwing an object with high speed. The way she threw the chalk, a pressurized wind was also formed and flows as it was a liquid.
"Mathew, stand outside!" The teacher said in annoyance with a disgusted looking face at Mathew.
Mathew didn't react from the chalk that hit him, it just the pain that startled him. However, his face looked like he has seen a terrifying movie or something. He slowly stood up from his chair and gradually walked out of the room.
The way he walk it was like he was scared at something in near future. His head was downcast.
(...No matter how confusing it was, it's still scary as I think of it.)
Mathew's thought-filled every second of memories on that day when he gets trapped inside the black and white world with a single oddly girl who was standing behind him with a strange power from her blood.
It was a crazy experience.
The teacher glanced at his face.
Her annoyed face that glaring at Mathew turn to confusion.
She later understand what's the meaning of his afraid face. Adding it to his sleep at the class might be the sight of depression or even loss of finding things to enjoy.
(...What just happened?)
She thought deeply enough to think it was a bully.
Bully was a pretty common in high school, especially when the person looked a loser or nerd.
It was a pretty harsh reality, but that's not the case in Mathew. He saw the girl in the middle of the black and white world, inside the bus as he thought he was along there. Imagining it again it's like a child who wearing a very long white dress with bloodstains all around her body and immediately showed up like a blink of the eye.
He was in the situation between reality and fantasy, where he gets involved in something much more scarier than the children fantasies.
Mathew closed the door slowly.
Like he was leaving his life and soul at the room and moving out like his leg were boneless.
Her sis apparently sitting in the middle of the classroom, with a facepalm as she was blushing from the embarrassing moment that her brother did. Even though she want in that kind of situation, she's still affected since they were siblings. It can affect their family name.
(...What an idiotic brother. When would you grow up?)
Anais thought with her another hand clenched at the bottom of her desk.
She then remembered a few hours ago. When his face turn pale as he saw a ghost. It was very odd for her and she can't even think anything that involved about his reaction he made.
(Come to think. He probably dreamed about horror. He was dozing off the bus for the whole time. But why after eating the sandwiches, his body was weakened, like it was shut down for a moment? Is that part of being lack at sleeping?)
At Mathew's perspective, he woke up on the bus, without any people inside and the world turned black and white. But in Anais perspective, he immediately slept while sitting and his head slammed at the front chair. Like she said that his body shut down for a moment.
◇◇◇◇◇
Mathew was punished by standing outside the front door for the whole class.
It has been one hour since he left the room.
Mathew still thinking about it. That time when his consciousness teleported to the black and white world.
(...What was that? It has been four hours but why I feel so scared? Why I feel I'm in danger? Want I feel cold, yet the wind was warm? Why? Why I can't stop thinking of it?!)
He clenched his two hands with fear and tried to fight it. But it as useless as he feeling that his surroundings were full of danger that it could lead to the death of his life.
(...Why?)
...
Inside the classroom, Anais put down the pen she was holding to write on the piece of clean paper and finishing the lectures that were written on the board.
Their professor arranged the papers at the top of her table and holding it up to her chest that her arm crossed.
"That's the end of the lecture. You can have lunch right now before the lunchtime."
Everyone in the class bowed their head and said at the same time. "Thank you for teaching."
Then the teacher left the classroom.
After closing the door, he turns her head where Mathew was and said in a deadpan voice. "Follow me. Let's have a conversation in the office."
Mathew shook his head and tailed his professor.
No matter how many times Mather tried to stop his fear inside his mind, it can not stop completely.
The fear was still there, beside him.
