Chapter 13 - Chapter Twelve

(Lucca)

Shit, where are they?

I need to talk with Tristan to explain what happened, but because of Leonel, I haven't been able to do that.

I rush around the cave, asking all of the crew members if they've seen them, and of course they haven't. I search for the longest time before deciding that maybe it is best if I wait. When we all get back on the ship I can find him and we can talk.

Just as I head back to said ship, I hear two familiar voices come from a spot near the water.

"It's alright. You'll protect me." Tristan says softly.

I rush towards them as Leonel responds. "Of course I'll protect you. Anything for you…"

By the time they come into view, Leonel is already kissing Tristan deeply. I see him tense slightly, but after a few seconds, he returns it.

Has he gotten over me that quickly? Why the hell is he kissing Leonel?

I feel rage bubble inside me and I find myself storming over to yank Leonel away from him. I really want to punch him, kick him, and beat him until he can't walk but I know I shouldn't do it in front of Tristan… so maybe later.

"What the hell, you don't talk to me and now you're kissing him? Moving on already?"

"You seemed to move on pretty quickly. Why can't I do the same? You obviously don't want me."

"Well if you actually spoke with me and let me explain you'd understand! Do you still want to ignore me, and make out with him without knowing what happened? I know I'm an asshole, but I had my eyes on you, no one else! But you did, and seeing as you two have now kissed twice, I'm guessing this means you've chosen who you want to be with."

Leonel goes to say something, but I immediately glare at him, and he jumps when I do this. He quickly stands up with wide eyes and looks to Tristan with a panicked expression. "Tristan, let's just go."

He ignores Leonel, glaring right back at me.

"Please tell me what I don't understand. You were half-naked with a girl on your lap. Did I somehow misread the situation because it seemed pretty obvious what was going on. I thought that I was the only one that you'd do that stuff with, but I'm not. You act more like a merman than I do. You draw me and make me fall for you only to stab me in the back… but sure. I'm the one who doesn't understand." He replies, standing up.

I glance over at Leonel who is just looking back and forth between the two of us. Just seeing his face irritates me, and in order to stay the slightest bit calm he can't be around Tristan. "Look can we just talk about it somewhere else? Not in front of… him."

He scoffs and rolls his eyes. "Whatever."

"Look I understand you're pissed, but now's not the time to just 'whatever' me." I grab his wrist and try to tug him away from Leonel who is still, much to my disliking, standing there.

"What do you want me to say, Lucca? You hurt me, and I don't trust you anymore."

"I want you to listen to me without rolling your eyes or thinking that all I'm saying is bullshit… and I want you to tell Leonel to leave because apparently he doesn't get the idea, and he's just a lost puppy who will follow you anywhere."

"I'm fine Leonel. I can handle it." Tristan assures him, forcing a smile.

"I'm sure you can Tristan but I just don't think you're safe around him by yourself." He takes a step forward and tries to grab Tristan, and for some reason when he does it makes me see red.

I grab Tristan and push him behind me, a deep growl coming from my chest causing the ground below us to shake and for a few rocks from the cave come tumbling down. I'm not phased. I just want him gone, and away from what's mine.

Tristan jumps when a rock falls behind him, and what shocks me is his small arms wrapping around me tightly. His face presses into my back as he shakes in fear. It causes my body to relax and the ground to stop shaking.

"Just leave Leonel, this doesn't involve you." Out of fear he simply nods and does as told, leaving Tristan and I to finally be alone.

I turn my head and see that he's still clinging to me, and it really is an adorable sight. "You can let go of me now, we really do need to talk."

"Right." He agrees quietly, letting go, and backing up a few steps. "I'll listen, but I'm not promising to believe you."

"I told you before our last conversation that I was going to be busy for most of the day, which meant paperwork and trying to figure out where this ship was going next. I went into my father's office to do exactly that, but while I was working that girl walked in and started asking me weird questions. I tried getting her to leave, but she wouldn't. God, I even insulted her and threatened to throw her off the ship, but she wouldn't leave. As soon as I stood up to make her leave she ran over, pushed me against the chair and ripped open my shirt. She climbed on top of me as soon as you walked in, and when you saw I just… froze. Nothing happened, but I still didn't want you to see. You don't have to believe me because I can barely believe it myself, but that's what happened. I don't know why but it did."

"You didn't do anything with her?" He asks to clarify.

"Hell no, the only person I would ever touch on this ship is you. Well, was you, I'm not too sure anymore…"

"Leonel kissed me… sure, I returned it, but I thought that you were off with that girl. I was upset and he was comforting me, and… he told me that you would always flirt with multiple people at the same time. I just felt… used."

"You're kidding. He lied, I rarely even talk to people let alone flirt with them. What else did he say?" I feel my fist clench and unclench by my side, it is getting more and more difficult not to walk up to Leonel and punch the shit out of him.

"He said that you weren't a nice person, and that he should've warned me in the beginning. He said that I was beautiful and he'd protect me." He starts. "...and that he'd beat you up if I asked him to."

I let out a loud laugh and roll up the sleeves to my shirt. "I might not be the nicest person, but I'm not horrible… and yes, you are beautiful, but I'll be the one protecting you. I'd love to see him try and touch me. All that stuff he said… did you really believe it? Do you still believe it?"

"I didn't know what to believe, Lucca. After what I saw, I was doubting you… and he used that to feed me all these lies about how you're a terrible person. I think that I knew that it wasn't true, but it was easier to believe that then trying to talk to you about it. Now I know. I believe in us, Lucca. We might fight and make up a ton of times, but we'll last. I know it."

I hesitantly grab his waist and pull him into a tight hug when he allows it. His arms wrap around my neck, and I bury my face into his hair.

"I thought I would have been able to stay calm, and let you hang around Leonel as a friend, but I don't think I can. Especially not after what I saw."

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have trusted him over you." He places a soft kiss on my lips which is surprising. Usually I have to coax it out of him. I give him a quizzical look when he pulls back, causing him to smirk. "I decided to live like a pirate… take chances."

I smile and lean down, brushing my lips over his. "You've got a lot more to learn about being a pirate, and taking chances."

I smirk, and dip him down, snickering at his shocked expression before pressing my lips to his for a real kiss. He returns it heatedly, tangling his fingers in my long hair. The kiss is sweet and satisfying, it's something I've been waiting for. I deepen the kiss when my mind flashes to the moments where his lips were on someone else's. I'm not going to let that happen again. I'll kiss him so many times that he'll forget all about Leonel.

When I pull back, I run my thumb over his bottom lip and grin at how red they are. "I better be the better kisser."

"Definitely." He breathes out with a red face.

I kiss his lips one last time before stepping back, and slipping off my shirt. "So? We still on for that swim?"

He nods, taking off his clothes quickly. He dives into the cold cave water before his light blue and white scales come through his skin, leaving a bit of blood to mix in with the water. I watch in awe, admiring his tail, his body, and just him in general.

I walk into the water and tense at the coldness, debating whether or not I should keep going. "I just felt one of my body parts shrink up with how cold this water is. Can I take a rain check?"

"No way. Get in or I won't kiss you for a month." He threatens with a smirk. "It's actually warm for me."

I groan and slowly inch my way into the water.

"Well you're an arctic merman while I'm a human who usually spends his days out in the sun. Cut me some slack."

Finally I'm in the water and I take a moment to adjust before holding my arms out to Tristan. "Come here, give me a kiss as a reward for making it in the water."

"I can show you something." He informs, swimming closer to me. He kisses me deeply before pulling back. "Come under with me."

"Uhh, I don't know if you noticed but I can't breathe underwater."

"Trust me." He responds, pulling me under the water.

At first I panic and decide that holding my breath would be the best idea, but when Tristan reaches out and basically punches my stomach I have no choice but to open my mouth. Then and there I expect to just drown and die, but somehow, I'm able to breathe underwater. I give him a confused look and he simply smiles in return.

He lets go of me and starts swimming around, pointing at all of the cool things beneath the surface of the water. His childlike joy and excitement makes me smile, and the only thing I can focus on his him.

After a moment I feel my chest bubble and my instincts tell me to go back to the surface. When I do I take a deep breath of air and glance around, looking for Tristan. Before I even process what's happening, Tristan's kissing me yet again.

"You ran out." He informs. "It's because I kissed you. It's magic I guess."

I laugh and reach out, placing my hands on his cheeks. "Your kiss is quite magical."

I pull him closer before starting to kiss him slowly. He wraps his arms around my neck again, smiling into the kiss. He holds me tightly like he's afraid to let go.

When I pull away I rest my forehead against his own and we stay there staring into each other's eyes. The silence is peaceful, and the fact that it's just us makes it even better.

"You know, I never thought anything like this would happen to me. Meet a merman, fall for him, kiss him in the water. It's kind of wild don't you think?"

"I didn't think that a pirate would ever fall for me. Considering most of them wouldn't mind killing me, but you aren't like that. We're lucky that we found each other. Although I'm not too sure that you're a normal pirate."

"What makes me different from the rest?" I wrap my arm around his waist, and swim over to land, sitting on the sand with the water gently hitting our waists.

"You caused the whole cave to shake. Humans can't do that." He says, implying something that I'm not sure that I agree with.

"I didn't make the ground shake, that was probably just a mini earthquake or something… I'm like any other pirate… any other human."

"Lucca. You can't really believe that. You growled so deeply that it made rocks fall… and none of them hit us. That's not normal. If it was an earthquake then one of them probably would've hit us."

I shrug and press my chest into is back, holding him as close as possible. "I wasn't really thinking about it. It's just… Leonel tried to grab you and it angered me so much. I didn't want him to touch you. I couldn't help myself, I don't know what happened. Did it scare you? I didn't mean for it to…"

"It's fine. I was scared, but I knew that you wouldn't let anything hurt me."

His tail eventually dries enough for it to change back into long legs. Not to mention the other body part that's now visible. He blushes brightly, and pulls his knees up to his chest, hiding his body from me. I love how adorably nervous he gets around me.

"You don't have to hide yourself from me… all of you is beautiful. Though seeing everything makes me want to kiss you just about everywhere, I won't do anything you don't want."

I kiss his cheek and then his neck, gently placing my hands on his knees to slowly push them down. He allows me to, and leans his head back on my shoulder, taking a deep breath. I take his hand and give it a reassuring squeeze, trying to help him relax.

"Would me getting naked help you feel better?" I tease.

"I… I don't mind… if you want to."

"Are you sure you're ready to see all that? Last time you could barely look down, now I'm wondering if you ever did."

"I didn't… but I'm ready. I'm an adult. I wouldn't get flustered over that stuff anyway."

I smile and nod in agreement, helping him off my lap before the smirk appears back on my face. "You could always help me out here."

He blushes with wide eyes, but compiles. He unbuttons my pants, pulling down the zipper, and looking away immediately.

"Oh, my bad, I forgot I didn't have anything under there."

"I just… didn't expect that." He whispers, looking into my eyes.

I tug my pants down the rest of the way and kick them to the side, laying my shirt down on the sand before sitting down. "You can sit back on my lap if you want, but you'd probably want to watch where you sit."

He nods in agreement, climbing on top of me. He sits down, making sure to avoid making me uncomfortable. I laugh at his awkwardness and tug him closer, pressing my lips to the back of his neck.

"Just don't wiggle around and I think we'll be alright. Though, I have another position you can sit in if you aren't too fond of this one."

"Alright." He agrees, but I notice that he's sitting as stiff as possible, trying not to move at all.

"Here, let's try this." I lift him up by his waist and turn him around, placing him on my lap once more, so he's straddling me.

Tristan seems more comfortable now that he can look at me.

"Just don't look down, unless you're curious." I mumble, leaning forward to kiss his nose. He seems to be agreeing to a lot. I don't want to go too far with him since we only met a few days ago, but pushing his boundaries is starting to become a hobby of mine.

"Oh... Okay." He says, biting his lip.

His eyes dart around, and eventually he stops pretending that he doesn't want to look at me. He looks down, his gaze lingering for a second before shooting back up to meet mine. "Sorry."

"Sorry? For what? I've been checking you out ever since you undressed. If anything I feel flattered. I hope what you saw doesn't disappoint."

"It didn't." He says quickly before his blush creeps down to his neck. "Not that I… I haven't ever… I'll just be quiet."

I hum lowly and lick a long stripe up his neck, trying my best to hold back a snicker. "Haven't ever what? Continue…"

"I-I've never seen… well, besides mine."

"Good, now you've see both yours and mine. Let's keep it that way, hm?"

I feel him shiver under me when I start to leave more marks down his neck and across his collarbone, loving the way they turn out against his pale skin.

"Mhm." He gasps and moans quietly as I continue marking his neck. By the time the sun comes back up, he's going to more spotted than a Dalmatian.
