Craziness Overload by: Chance Miller
I slowly board the last train Middletin having an urge to savor every moment in Arizona. I glide into my seat, taking in the breathtaking view of the sunset. A spectrum off oranges, reds and yellows are sprawled across the sky creating a masterpiece and the last glimmering rays of light gently illuminate the tiled platform.
With a sudden jolt the train lurches forward and the silver tiled platform of the Metro Station is now replaced by lush chartreuse meadow fields which stretch endlessly into the horizon. Anything green had an uncanny resemblance to her beautiful eyes.
I shut my eyes recalling the first day I met Evangeline almost eleven years ago. It feels just like yesterday when my brown eyes followed her as she built a plastic toy train track with her adorable chubby hands. I watch captivated as she tried to match the pieces to form a bridge for her toy train to pass over. When I approached her, she hurriedly shifted away indicating that she wanted nothing to do with me.
"I got this first so go find something else to play with", she told me defiantly. For as long as I can remember she had a sharp mouth, a fiery temper and a rebellious attitude.
I started swinging the bridge that she had carefully built until the pieces underneath gave up and her construction work broke down. "You...you broke it", she told me, tears formed in her eyes and we both stared at the remains of the what-could-have-been a bridge.
"I'll help you build the bridge again", I negotiated grabbing her index finger in order to pacify her. The frown on her face never dissipated but her voice softened "you better or I will tell."
I had motioned for her to join me and showed her how the pieces she used were incorrectly placed and that the plastic blocks were supposed to be placed at the bottom to support the bridge. When I brandished a piece of railroad in front of her like a weapon she did the same and soon enough we were laying on the floor gently tapping the plastic pieces together. Finally when we were dismissed she gripped the hem of my shirt and asked "can we build another bridge tomorrow...together?" Her eyes were wide and filled with hope.
I remember every second of that day. It's forever etched in my memory, engraved in my heart. I remember her spitfire attitude, her lustrous meadow green eyes, her contagious smile and even her hair was unique like warm melted chocolate with hints of cinnamon and caramel.
Gradually our friendship blossomed. It blossomed into something I never imagined...love. Love is a crazy emotion its magnificent, enchanting desiring and never ending. Every human seeks love, they seek someone who'll cherish them for all eternity. Someone who'll accept them for who they are even with their faults, flaws and mistakes. We all desire love, even though we know the risk of heartbreak and pain.
I lean back, getting comfortable in my seat as my eyes flutter shut on their own account and sleep consumes me.

The house was still the same, but magnificent. The familiar oak wood exterior with brick decorations. Large square windows allowed vast amounts of sunlight to brighten up the house and were built in the most asymmetric way. Rose bushes surround the cobblestone path leading to the patio.
I hurriedly jump out of the cab only to spiral backwards as my younger brother Aaron flings into my arms. How long has it been since I last saw him? Four years? He looks much grown up now, I can hardly recognize him.
"Chancey, you're home", he greets me in the most adorable five year old accent and I nearly die from a severe case of cuteness-overload.
"Yes little guy", I affectionately ruffle his hair.
The chubby, grey eyed energetic ball of cuteness frowns, crossing his arms over his chest to look intimidating "I'm five, Lisa said I'm grown up."
"Welcome home son", my mother embraces me "we've missed you so much, especially Hugo. He was dying to meet his stepson in person."
"Aren't you gonna come in?" Lisa asks filing her nails sending a glance in my direction looking unmotivated.
"Nice to see you again big sis", I sarcastically remark.
I follow my mother inside luggage in one hand and Aaron in the other. "Its good to be home, Arizona was like craziness overload", I chuckle grinning from ear to ear my eyes darting around the all too familiar interior.
"You know", Lisa slyly whispers in my ear once the others were out of sight "Evangeline Summers is coming back to Middletin. I just can't wait to see two lovers re-unite."
