Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

There was no time to move, much less think. Obviously, Hisoka had been observing me and had already figured out some things about me.

Such as my shock at my own strength, my hesitation, and my speed. And he would use that to his advantage.

His body shot towards me with a maniacal grin, which made me flinch. He was getting quite serious now.

I clenched my fists and bent down a bit, pushing my mind to its limit. Whatever my ability is- the time slowing down thing- I need it to activate now, or I won't be able to block or dodge this attack, please.

...Still nothing. Fine then. I... I ORDER it to activate. It's my own ability, and I should be able to command it.

My eyes opened and my heart skipped a beat when I realized that it had worked- everyone around me was once again in slow-mo.

And just in time too. Hisoka was right in front of me, with several cards ready to slice me in half.

I leaped to the right and prepared my fist again. This time I know that I'm able to fight back. And although I may be powerful, I still lack experience, which Hisoka has, which is why I need to be careful regardless.

Sure enough, soon after, his eyes darted my way and he changed his direction again towards me, but with a differently coordinated attack.

I can't... I bit my lip and stared at the solid white floor. I know that I may be able to hold my own against him for a short while, but in the end, he'll defeat me.

He hasn't even gotten serious or used his Nen yet. I can't even use Nen, and on top of that, I barely remember anything about it. But maybe my time ability had something to do with it?

As I was staring at the ground, I suddenly realized something. The ground... it's built to automatically reassemble after being destroyed.

But...

Maybe, just maybe... a crazy idea popped into my head. It reminded me of that time Gon thought of breaking down the wall in the middle of both paths so that they could all go together.

Hold on... when did that happen again? All these weird memories from the show are starting to come back to me, which I suppose is good... right? Taking this exam was definitely starting to help me get my memory of this show back.

Anyway, back to my idea. If I manage to do it with all my strength and move quickly enough, it could work. But only if I can use my newfound ability at the same time.

And the debris would work as a cover from Hisoka, so I need to get the timing right too. I clenched my fist and prepared for my stunt, pulling my arm back. Hisoka is coming. It's now or never.

With a final breath, I leaped up and pulled back my arm all the way, imagining all my power flowing into it.

Gravity took ahold of my body and I began to fall. I closed my eyes and forced my time slowing power to deactivate, and the colors returned. I was starting to get used to this whole power thing.

Finally, as Hisoka was just a few feet away from me, my fist connected with the white floor. Almost immediately, large cracks formed and the material began to break apart.

The entire room shuddered, and a large jagged hole was created where I'd punched the floor. There- an opening. There were white chunks of the rock starting to fall, and I could sense Hisoka in it somewhere.

I saw that the edges of the hole were already staring to mend together, quickly closing in. Now. My time ability activated, slowing down everything but me- including the regeneration of the floor. I sucked in another breath, for it could be my last, and continued to fall into the pit I'd created.

The hole began to fix itself even faster, and by the time my whole body was through, there was only a tiny opening left. My ability deactivated, then it closed completely, leaving me in the pitch black darkness.

My body began falling through the pit of darkness and I began to flail and shriek, screaming all the way down. You can't blame me, though- it was terrifying, falling straight down through pure darkness. I had no idea what else was in that tower and I didn't want to know either.

Finally, after a couple more minutes of screaming, my body tensed up with the feeling of danger. Something large and flat below me... the... ground?

Oh yeah, I didn't really think ahead... but if I land right now, my body would most likely splatter across the floor. And that would not be pleasant at all.

I needed to think of something, and fast.

A/N: hey guys, author-san here. As you can hopefully see, my writing style has improved since last year, and I'm trying to make my chapters longer. Again, thanks for reading. I can't believe that this story already has over 3k views!! That's a lot for me❤️
