Mordred dismissed Nyx as soon as he confirmed her race and abilities. Although he had plenty of mana, he did not want to drain it before he began his hunt. He wanted to be at his full power when he began.
Mordred had decided on going to the B rank beginner dungeon: Undead Trial. Not only was it a great place to practice, but it would also provide Mordred with a chance to pick up some ability books for Nyx.
Mordred told his parents which dungeon he was going to and was met with their approval. With their experience, they could already tell what Mordred was thinking when he chose his dungeon as well as whether or not he would be able to handle it.
Mordred was already given his weapon and survival supplies the night before so he was ready to set out. He gave his parents and El a hug before he made his way to the carriage and ordered the driver to head to Undead Trial.
It was early in the morning but the place was packed with hunters and other young demons who had just awakened. Mordred and Persephone were not the only ones who awakened the previous day.
'Speaking of her...'
Mordred looked around but did not see Persephone anywhere. Although the chances were slim, he still hoped to meet at the same dungeon with her. None of the other children were present either. They had all been leveling up over the past 1-4 months and no longer needed to go into beginner dungeons.
Mordred waited in line until he reached the dungeon supervisor. He then paid the fee for his solo entry before being given eight entrance tokens and waiting for his turn. The token was shaped like a skull and seemed to be made out of actual bone.
Dungeons had maximum capacities depending on the dungeon for parties and some could were able host multiple parties at once. Mordred paid the fee of an entire party so he could enter the dungeon alone and not have to worry about extra people tagging along.
This dungeon could allow for parties up to 8 people and could allow up to 5 parties to enter the dungeon at once. While each was inside the dungeon, they would enter their own version of it and could not interfere with others.
Mordred went off to the side and pulled a book out of his storage and began reading while he waited for his turn.
A few others who were waiting to pay their tickets saw that Mordred was alone but had eight entrance tokens with him. The first group to approach him was obviously a bunch of nobles who had just awakened or had awakened in the past few months. They sent their succubus to the front to probe Mordred.
"Hello there, Lord Mordred. Are you perhaps waiting on your party to arrive or do you need some people to accompany you?"
Mordred was slightly famous in Tartarus. Well he and all the other SS rank children were. They had features that really stood out so many people were able to tell who they were with a glance.
Mordred was famous for a different reason. 2 months prior, a recently awakened demon was causing trouble and ended up obstructing Mordred's path. When Mordred ordered him to move, the demon got arrogant thinking his class and abilities would make him unbeatable so he launched an attack on the Oni.
The demon ended up being the first demonstration of the power of the young SS ranks. Mordred was able to beat and kill a classed demon without using any skills of his own. Those who saw Mordred battle said that it was like watching an adult bullying a child.
This was why Mordred was even more famous than the others. They demonstrated their abilities after they awakened while he did it before so. Seeing him in line, the others not only wanted to curry favor and skip the line, but also wanted to see just how powerful Mordred was with his class as well as try and gain insight into what his class was.
It was common practice not to share ones class with anyone except for those they trusted. Most gave a general name for their class when asked like 'warrior' or 'mage'.
Mordred looked at the succubus before returning his gaze back to the book in his hands and not answering. The only people he was close to were his family and friends. Everyone else did not even enter his eyes.
Seeing that she was ignored, the noble girl was upset but she knew better than to show it on her face. She knew that her group was most likely not Mordred's match, especially since he might have gotten a bunch of resources from his parents and could have had rare abilities on him. It was also well known that the SS rank children all arrogant, and that Mordred ranked in the top 3 of them.
"Sorry for interrupting you. We hope that you have a pleasant hunt, Lord Mordred," she said before returning to her group who had returned to their spot in line.
Feeling that their presence went away, the cold look in Mordred's eyes also went away.
'So greedy. Wanted to kiss up to me but also wanted me to carry you through the dungeon? I don't think so.'
Mordred waited another 3 hours before his number was called. The average clear time for the dungeon was 3 hours for experienced teams while weaker teams may have needed up to 5 days.
Mordred walked in front of the dungeon barrier before pulling out his entry token in his left hand and a nine-ring saber in his right. He placed the token in front of him before he was absorbed inside of the dungeon.
Mordred was blinded for a moment before he felt could see again. When he opened his eyes, he saw a dark environment all around him. He looked up and saw that there was a full moon in the sky.
'Dungeons really do produce their own environments to suit the creatures inside. Good thing I read all those books in the library. And that old bastard informed me as well.'
Mordred stopped thinking about unimportant things and began focusing on the environment around him. He knew that he was currently in the safe zone but it was best to be prepared.
In the distance, he saw several white skeletons walking around, some were carrying weapons or wearing armor but most were unarmed. Mordred decided to stay in the safe zone for a few more minutes as he came up with a battle plan.
