Mordred held his saber at the ready was prepared to take on the boss monster of the dungeon.
'Possessed Armor. B rank. Level 15. It has 10 active abilities and 3 passive ones. Unlike other undead, it is resistant to blunt damage. It also has good speed and can make a magic barrier once every 15 minutes.
All the active skills except for one are close range. His only long-range ability is a single energy slash that leaves a huge opening after it is used.
The best thing I can try to do is lure it in...'
Before he could complete his thoughts, the Armor was already upon him with its blade. Mordred was able to block it but he was caught off guard. He was forced into a reactive position and could not find a chance to launch his own attacks.
'Shit! We have battled before and should know better than to make this amateur mistake. We will not allow this to happen a second time.'
Mordred quickly calmed down and analyzed his situation. His weapon proficiency allowed him to better use his saber than he would have been able to before.
'Hell Shot!'
Mordred opened his mouth before shooting a ball of mana at the armor from point-blank range. The ball pushed the armor back several meters. Mordred used that chance to launch a counter-attack and cut at the armor with one hand while he held his other hand out.
'Summon Familiar.'
Nyx appeared on the side and was floating mid-air while Mordred pushed back the armor with his superior physical abilities. Now that he was no longer worried about the level and ability difference, Mordred was able to go all out.
"Nyx! Lift some of the looser bricks around the arena and throw them at the armor."
'Okay!' answered the dark spirit
The armor was no being double-teamed. With Mordred attacking it up close and Nyx attacking from a distance, the armor could not get a break and breakthrough. After a couple of minutes of continuous battle, Mordred was finally able to cut through the weak spot of the armor and 'kill' it.
Mordred did not let his guard down though. He knew that the boss had two parts two to it. Mordred opened his mouth and began charging a Hell Shot.
Another set of larger armor fell from the sky and landed in the arena. It created a large number of cracks in the arena. This armor's helmet was not closed and a skull could be seen inside.
This was was no longer a Possessed Armor but instead an Undead Knight. It was a skeleton wearing a set of enchanted armor and wielding a powerful blade and shield. The Undead Knight spread both arms out to its side as it let out an intimidating roar.
Its body was hit with the charged Hell Shot directly. The Knight could not even put up a defense. Mordred did not hesitate to launch another 2 Hell Shots not giving the Knight a chance to recover. He then charged forward with his blade and stabbed toward the exposed face of the Knight.
Without even being able to put up a proper fight, the Undead Knight was killed by a being about 10 levels below it while the Possessed Armor was killed as soon as Mordred had calmed down. Unfortunately, neither dropped an ability book.
'So this is the difference in ranks. These guys were higher levels yet they could not even damage me. I will have to look into this later at the other dungeons before the academy starts.'
Mordred decided to put that to the back of his mind while he looked at his status. He had reached level 11 due to the battles and had about 60,000 system points.
'So this is why they say that the first 20 levels are the child levels. Even if someone came with a full party, they would be able to reach level 11 after just 3 dungeon runs. I guess the real challenge comes after these.'
Mordred purchased the Basic Enchantment Ability with his points before putting both ability points into it. His newly gotten ability was already level 3 without him creating a single enchantment.
Mordred felt a rush of information enter his head as he learned several low-level enchantments and how to properly create them. He learned of the different types of tools a person could use for enchanting and some of the basic items that could be enchanted.
This was the perk of using ability books instead of learning abilities through practice, a person would automatically gain experience with the skill and know how to use it at its most basic level.
'So these are enchantments. With the knowledge I gained from this skill and the system introduction, I am sure that this is the correct path for using guns to their best ability.'
Mordred was eager to start practicing but he had nothing to practice with or on at the moment. Instead, he decided to invest his stat points. He had gained 400 over the 10 levels that he gained and decided to distribute them over his 6 stats but mainly focused on Mobility and Mind.
Mordred could feel a slight increase in his body and mind. Happy that he felt the change, he moved on to the final thing he was there for. He looked at Nyx who was floating beside him before he opened her status page.

Mordred gave Nyx's latest ability point to Telekinesis once again. He knew that would be one of the more important skills in her arsenal.
'Nyx is almost ready to evolve. Maybe I should head on another hunt so that she can get there. Plus, I need more points so I can try out several different guns and enchantment equipment.'
Having come to his decision, Mordred stepped on the portal that allowed him to exit the dungeon. The same light that blinded him when he entered, appeared again.
When he could see again, he saw that he was back in the plaza. Mordred quickly left the plaza to find a more difficult dungeon. The strongest creature in that one was the 2nd boss at level 20. If he wanted to reach level 15 in just one other trip, he had to either go to a higher level dungeon.
