Chapter 39 - Chapter 38

When Kimi finished chanting she held the palm of her hand out aiming at Acrisius. The forest went silent, the grass beneath Kimi's feet began to turn black, the trees near her immediately rotted and fell apart. Sven felt a strong sense of fear trickling through his body. A glyph reading death was appearing on Acrisius' chest. Burning a brand into his chest as he shrieked in pain. To kill a chimera you have to cut off the head, but his body was far too durable. The curse of death kills humans easily but powerful beings only had their vitality greatly reduced making death inevitable. Every breath he took was in pain. Acrisius couldn't believe a human could use curses. In all his life he only met one person who could, and It was a child of Hecate, not a human. In order for a curse to work you cant break eye contact, or lose focus from the spell. Kimi was bound in place with him. Before he could break the chains they needed to act.

"Now is the only chance we have!" Kimi yelled.

Sven never heard Kimi raise her voice. He trusted her judgment rapidly closing in. His right forearm down regrew its scales as his claws sharpened immensely. Sven shoved his claw into his back grabbing his spinal column, and tearing it straight out. Acrisius began reverting back to human form as his body shook compulsively.

"You said my weakness was having someone to protect, but you're wrong. It's what makes us stronger. If you fought with your comrade you would've won without a doubt." Sven said before swiping his head clean off.

Kimi collapsed after the spell broke. She never used this much magic before. All she could do was lay flat on her knees. Sven ran up to her quickly. Getting down on the ground to make sure she was okay. She looked up with a smile on her face.

"You're so powerful Kimi! Without you here I would've died for sure." Sven said while smiling.

Kimi leaned in to embrace him. She was such a warm, and caring individual. It wasn't the first time he was saved by a comrade. However Kimi never fought before, but she risked everything to save him. She fought so fiercely for his sake, and it left a heavy impression on Sven.

"You made me strong, "Kimi replied while letting go. She had the biggest smile on her face it was infectious.

After the two got up, Sven walked over to the corpse. Sitting down he prepared for the long process of absorbing. The sheer amount of power in this man was insane. Sven was always confident in his abilities. Even when he had a tough fight he felt like he could pull through. No matter how hard they hit this man he never stopped coming. Even with the others here, it would've been difficult to overwhelm him. He closed his eyes intending to only absorb a little of the energy and to save some for his comrades. The second his eyes closed all the energy swarmed into him instantly. It felt like a drop of water pouring into the ocean. Sven could feel the massive power flowing through him, but he felt no strain. Only a calm feeling circling his body. When he opened his eyes everyone was around him staring at him.

"Did you not hear us calling you?" Helga scolded.

"I almost resorted to some serious method to get you up," Astrid said with a lewd grin.

"We need to get going. We have to inform Chief Mikom about what happened here." Mika said while holding her hand out to help him up.

"Thank you. Sorry I got distracted." Sven replied while getting up.

They began the route to home. Everyone was in good health considering the battles that took place. Sven and Astrid are the bloodiest as usual. Kimi stayed by Sven's side all the way home. Helga noticed this and wanted to say something. When she thought of what Sven said about their fight though she held back. Kimi put her life on the line when Sven was vulnerable, and without her, they couldn't have won that fight. The group never expected a sixth person to be lurking in the forest. It caused everyone to be a little uneasy knowing that powerful of a killer was lurking so close to home. When getting home Mika intended to organize scouting parties to start a net dragging out to find threats. For now, everyone wanted to give solace to the villagers remaining about their loved ones being avenged. When they got close to where they left their warriors they tried to call out using the amulet. They got no response. After this, they started speeding back.

The area the village was destroyed was extremely quiet. Five men clad in black armor were waiting in the destruction. The bodies of the warriors were cut up, and some even charred on the ground nearby. Everyone saw this getting ready to charge in, but an oppressive force swept over the area. A strong sense of fear hit everyone as their eyes glued to Sven. His body was already clad in gold scales. His eyes were resembling his awaken form, but only the scales remained. Everyone wanted to move but couldn't. It felt as if they were petrified, that the slightest move could cause them to crumble.

Sven disappeared and immediately swept past the closest warrior with his head in hand. Blood was raining around the body before it could even collapse. Alexias could barely keep up with the speed of his attack. Everyone started chanting focusing on Sven. Each warrior threw a dagger into the ground that placed a barrier in front of them. Hoping to give them time to finish chanting. Sven dropped the head immediately rushing forward shattering the barrier like glass with a flick of his hand. Two of the warriors leaped back trying to finish chanting. The other pushed forward swinging both his blades towards Sven's neck as they both shattered. Sven grabbed the man by his throat lifting him into the air. The man saw the darkness in his eyes and became overran with terror.

"Have mercy!" The warrior pleaded.

"Did you show these villagers mercy? Did you show my family mercy? No, you didn't! I never hurt anyone, she never hurt anyone! You took everything from me!" Svens screamed in anger.
