Chereads / The Fall of Olympus / Chapter 42 - Chapter 41

Chapter 42 - Chapter 41

As the others battled Sven in the distance Helga, and Kimi sat on watching. Kimi saw Sven stuck in a loop unaware of his surroundings. Knowing that the protocol in these situations was straight forward, but couldn't bring herself to attack Sven. He was the man that gave her the courage to fight. She never expected he would become an enemy. She racked her mind for another way, but nothing.

"Is he really lost?" Helga asked.

"I could hear your voices, but he didn't notice them. He was holding a head in his hand with tears in his eyes. Then I was forced out by the dragon. That method won't work again, and I can't think of anything else to help him." Kimi said with a strong sadness in her voice.

Helga watched the battle take place. Sven was overwhelming them. He was attacking Astrid at the moment. The hole in her stomach was struggling to heal as he slammed her into the ground. Mika landed a shot at the back of his heart, but it couldn't go deep enough. Focusing on the arrow to increases its lightning output giving Astrid a moment to get clear from death. Even with the lighting coursing in him, it was forced out. Turning his attention to Mika he charged forward, but Akando tossed his tomahawks only to be dodged. Mika fired the last arrow she could with all her force, but it was caught with a smile on his face. His power was continuing to grow.

'If he takes that form from the arena we're all done for. Omega won't have to wipe us out. A dragon's weakness should be its belly.'Mika thought while pouring a special poison of hers on the end of her bow.

The ends of Mika's bow were bladed, and high-quality adamantine. She charged in swinging the bow with intense force aiming the blades at this gut. The blade managed to cut through his scales with the force she put behind it. The cut was deep enough to make him call out in pain. She was a child of Artemis so her strength was high even among the other gods. When Sven felt the pain from her attack he did a powerful air blast to her chest knocking her back while blood dripped down her mouth. The wound on Sven was healing extremely slowly. The poison she created was meant to halt the regeneration of powerful tera. It wasn't fully effective on him but had some effect. Mika struggled to get up to defend herself as he charged in. Akando became enraged seeing this crossing his to tomahawks as he charged in chanting. A giant ball of intense flames was gathering he then tossed his tomahawk as it hurled with it. Sven placed his hands out stopping it as it scorched the scales on his hands. He began laughing at the foolish attempt. Sven returned the blast with ease. Akando saw the speed of the attack, and fear swept his face. Astrid was barely able to get him out of the way of the impact as everything it contacted turned to ash. Helga saw the horror unfolding and knew it couldn't go on. She stood up as her wings began to expand, and her power was surging. The smile of the man she loved crossed her mind. She wouldn't allow the dragon to tarnish the memory of him.

"Can you stop his movements momentarily?" Helga asked as she flew up in the air.

"Maybe, but it wouldn't hold him long," Kimi replied.

"Just do it, and leave the rest to me," Helga said as she took off towards the battle.

Kimi's arms glowed faintly as she struggled to forge the same daggers she used on Acrisius. Her will was the only thing pushing her forward. Helga flew in with force unleashing a barrage of blasts to grab his attention from the others. They saw how quickly she was closing in, and the energy she was off-putting. So they immediately tried to clear the way. She couldn't wait for them to fully clear for Sven was readying a blast of his own. Helga's singing began as the powerful waves weighed down on him. The force of the blast sent her allies flying away. The waves interrupted Sven's attack and held him in place as he tried to adapt. The daggers flew into Sven's arms, legs, and one over his heart. The daggers glowed shooting chains into the ground binding him tightly, but he immediately began to struggle as they began to crack. Even if they were fully powered like the ones hitting Acrisius it would be the same result. After he absorbed his essence his power was too strong to be bound so easily.

Helga unleashed the full force of her voice as the ground around him began to crumble. A crater was formed as the power began to crush him. Helga always feared the strength of her voice and usually held back when singing. Knowing Sven was too strong to be held by anything she had no choice but to go all out. Sven could no longer rip at the chains cause he was in unbearable pain. It wasn't long before his scales gave way, and blood oozed from his eyes. When Helga saw him calling out in intense pain she started to hesitate. Is killing the man she loved her only option? With him no longer here what would she do?

Sven was in the barn talking to Bethany once again reliving the last few days at his home. What Kimi didn't see earlier was he didn't just live in the nightmare. There were good moments keeping him stuck. Making him forget the outside world as he relived her final days over, and over. He no longer remembered his comrades so their voices didn't reach him. This time he heard a familiar song at a distance. He got up walking trying to find the source. He could vaguely see a beautiful woman singing with tears in her eyes through the darkness. She looked so familiar, and he wondered why there was so much sorrow in her song. Was she trying to reach him, but why? He could hear Bethany calling from a distance, but he had problems walking away from the scene in front of him. The woman dropped to the ground and began walking to him as the singing stopped.

"I'm so sorry. I'm not strong enough to go through with this. I tried to think of what happens after this, and I just can't see a life without you..."

Helga walked up to Sven as he began ripping the chains to free himself. Kimi exhausted herself to hold his free arm tightly. Wanting to put everything on the line to give Helga a chance to reach him. Everyone else was too far away to get there in time to stop her.

"...When I first met you I thought you were a nuisance, but you quickly became irreplaceable to me. If you're not in the world, then I don't wanna be either. If one day you do find yourself again don't feel bad for what happened here. Just know that I will always love you." Helga said as she hugged Sven with tears running down her face.

Hoping everyone could get away with him being so injured. She wanted to hold the man she loved in her arms one more time. He was free enough to strike her with his claw. Right before the blow landed he froze. The true Sven saw his hand about to kill the women in front of him. Everything was starting to come back to him, as he struggled to take back control. Sven was clutching his head screaming in pain. Helga noticed him struggling, and held him tightly. All the nights they spent together flooded his mind.

"Please come back to me!" She cried holding him tightly refusing to let go regardless of the outcome.

Sven looked down at Helga crying in his arms. He made her look up at him.

"Why are you crying? What happened to Omega?" He asked trying to comfort her.

When she heard the voice she looked up seeing his eyes back to normal She immediately kissed him as tears continued to roll down her face. The others caught up to them ready to fight, but after seeing what was going on they dropped their guard. It was then Sven realized all the injuries on his comrades and the blood on his hands. He immediately backed away from Helga.

"Did I hurt everyone?" Sven asked as he looked over the injuries.

"It wasn't your fault," Helga said as she tried to approach him.

Sven looked down at his blood-drenched hand as it began to tremble. He immediately took off into the woods. His body hurt so much, but he needed to get away from them. The injuries on everyone seemed serious, and it was all his fault. The farther he was away right now the better. Helga was about to give chase but collapsed after a few steps. She didn't have enough strength left to walk on her own let alone run.

"We need to tend to the bodies. His reaction was normal, and he just needs time to think. He's back in control that's all that matters." Mika said as she helped Helga up.

While everyone was starting to gather the villagers remains reinforcements began to arrive. They could feel the fighting from the sanctuary so sent a group to investigate. After all the preparations were made for the deceased everyone went home except for Kimi. She went searching for Sven as soon as the reinforcements arrived. The first place she checked was the wolf den, but no signs. Helga went home to change before crawling into bed. Astrid tried to talk to her a few times but got no response. The sun was starting to set as Mika was heading to debrief to chief Mikom about today's events.
