Chapter 26 - Chapter 25

Somewhere in the outskirts of the city, in the middle of nowhere an abandoned house was seen. Its structure, worn out and on the verge of collapsing could be dated back to the early eighties. Inside the place was dusty and smelly, spider webs here and there, a few insects making the place their habitat and the furniture old and rusty.

"Aahhhh!!!"

A scream could be heard beneath the structure. In the basement a figure could be seen sitting on a blood covered chair with his hands and legs tied to it, head bent sideways, blood decorating his face, hair and clothes. He almost looked like a dead man if not for the slight movement of his chest.

Somewhere in the corner of the room another figure covered in black from head to toe stood with a rod steel covered in blood in one hand. Eyes filled with blood lust stared at the crippled man on the chair.

"Are you ready to talk." Another voice could be heard but this time it was feminine.

The man struggled to open his eyes to stare at the person who caused his misfortune. He feared this person to the point of death. How he wished he could turn back the time and reject the offer, maybe, just maybe he would have avoided experiencing this torture.

"Aahhhh!"

He felt something hard dig into his stomach that was already bruised. He was battered to the point of no recognition. He didn't know what to do. On one hand was that man holding his family hostage and on the other was this person whom he didn't know. He thought the man who beat him up was the main person, not knowing that there was someone else behind the scene who was watching his torture and waiting for the right time for his confession.

"I'll talk but there's a bargain."

Silence.

After a long time the voice finally spoke. "What do you want?"

"I want you to protect my family." The man said. He didn't have a choice. He needed to save his family from that man who turned his world upside down ever since he accepted that proposal. And maybe bargaining with this person might be his saving grace.

"Fool, did you think I kidnapped you without any collateral? Your family is safe in my hands."

Hearing this the man let out a sigh of relief hurting his ribs in the process. After being beaten up, breathing became a hard task.

"But,"

His happiness was short lived when he heard the word. He knew there was a price to pay.

"If you don't cooperate and become reluctant then I might start a killing fest starting with your daughter, wait isn't she a year old?" A sinister chuckle filled the room.

Dread filled the man. He tried raising his head to see who this maniac was but the room was dark and the only source of light was on him. He didn't want to succumb but he had a deadly feeling that this person was not joking.

"Don't you dare touch my daughter!"

"Try me." The voice replied back. "Now are you ready to talk or shall I begin my trip to visit your family?"

"I'll talk!" The man spat out a mouthful of blood and started. "It happened seventeen years ago. I was badly in need of money and had so much debts that needed to be settled within a time frame of one month or else they would send my family packing. A man walked up to me, dressed in a black suit and asked if I wanted to make some quick.I was desperate and said yes. He then, brought me towards a dark alley and knocked me out." The man breathe in and out heavily and then continued "When I regained consciousness I was in an hotel room, the place was dark and I could hardly see my shadow but I knew I was not alone. I felt the prescence of atleast ten men in the room. One of them that I guessed was the superior asked if I was willing to do a job and earn thirty million, I didn't hesitate to agree and waited for instructions. They handed me an envelope and told me to execute the job by tonight. The instruction was simple, kill and leave so not get caught. I didn't want to do it but I needed the money. They knocked me out again and brought me to the doorstep of my house and then I regained consciousness."

"And who did they tell you to kill?" The voice asked with a cold voice.

The man gulped and then answered "Faith and Lucien D'Amelio."

"So that's how you killed them."

"Yes."

Silence lingered in the air for a long period of time. You could hear the insects making their little noises.

"And who was the man?"

"I don't know. He didn't tell me his name. Please let me go! I have told you everything there is to know." The man begged.

"And why should I? Considering the fact that you killed an innocent couple you'd think I will let you leave?" The voice asked with a grave voice. A deadly promise was evident.

"Finish him." The voice said with no remorse.

The man's eyes widen when he saw the huge figure approaching him. He had already done what she wanted so why was she still hellbent on killing him.

"We had a deal!" He saw the huge man in black approaching with the steel rod in hand and trembled. He tried shifting backwards but every bone in his body was broken and not an ounce of strength left.

"No! Let me go!! Aahhh!"

Screams filled the whole structure making the birds on the roof flee. A black car that was previously parked outside the building was seen driving away with dust accompanying it from behind. The information they had been trying to get for the past two years was now in their grasp but this was only the first piece to solving the puzzle.
