Chapter 24 - Instant Regret

Regina hand shook with visible anger as she held the gun towards Sophia's head. Suddenly, the door burst open, causing Regina to point at the door.

"You're not Detective Kenny!" The detective yelled as he slowly appeared at the door alongside Lucus, startling the girl but also causing her to grow fustrated.

"Mind your own business! If you come closer, I will shoot her!" Regina hands trembled as she pointed back at Sophia, who had a scared expression, but she turned it into a glare.

"Look, we don't want any trouble, we could let you go peacefully with no charges filed against you, or we can arrest you with life imprisonment if you do shoot her." The detective calmly stated as he slowly walked towards her, blocking her view. Lucus realized as the detective was walking towards Regina, it was his sign to get Sophia away.

"Now... make your choice..."

Regina thought for a second but realized if she did shoot Sophia, Joey could bribe her out of trouble, but they needed her to trap Lucus in a corner. The sound of a heel caught her attention as she saw from behind the detective, Sophia, and Lucus running away.

"WAIT! GET BACK HERE!" As Regina try to run after them, the Detective grabs her and try to restrain her. Regina let out a childish scream as she kicked one leg up and brought it back down into the detective's crotch causing him to wither, letting her go.

Lucus and Sophia kept running up flights of stairs, avoiding the corrupt police officers and being pushed up many floors as they got to the top floor. All they had was rooftop.

As they got to the edge, the rooftop door slammed open with Regina gasping for air. The wig she worn was a rats nest and was slowly showing her blonde hair underneath. Her green eyes blazed with anger. No one had ever made her work this hard.

"S-Sophia...Lucus...pant... you...pant...don't have...pant... a choice." Regina stated as she slowly posture herself staring down the couple.

'Oh no, we are cornered... especially by bird brain Regina...' Sophia thought as she held onto Lucus, knowing what would happen next she either had to leave him or die for him.

"I rather die than be Joey's slave!" Yelled Sophia as she stepped in front of Lucus, shelding him.

"Sophia, what?" Lucus said, startled hy the girl's sudden actions.

"That's right, Lucus! I gave Sophia two options be killed or be Joey's woman instead! Too bad we could have used you for more power or tortured you every day for the trouble you caused!" Regins laughed screamed instanity as she slowly pulled the trigger. Causing the gun to go off as Sophia braced for the bullet, Lucus shielded her. Causing Regina to freak out as the bullet went through Lucus shoulder as Sophia felt droplets of blood on the side of her face as she looked up at an injured Lucus.

"Lucus." Sophia was quiet as the gun shot still echoed in her ears as her eyes were dull. Her mind raced as she wobbled to the floor the man was too heavy for her.

"Lucus- ACK!" Blood formed at Sophia's side slowly she missed the sound of another gunshot. She tried to stay strong near Lucus side as she felt the warmth ozing from her side. Regina's heels clicked on the floor, and she heard the rooftop door open. Sophia collapsed next to Lucus as she heard the detective and officers tackling Regina.

"Let me go! Let me go! They deserved it!" Regina screamed as she dragged into the staircase down to the holding cells. As the detective looked over to the couple breathing shallow from the injuries, a beautiful but depressing sight, he radio in. The sun slowly rises in the distance, shining on the couple.

"I need a chopper to the nearest hospital. We have two injured personal."

[At the hospital]

As Aurora smirked at her newfound victory as she lay in bed admiring the self-inflicted damage to frame Sophia. She was stiched and ready to testify against Sophia, but Joey interjected.

"Regina must have convinced her if she leaves Lucus, and I bribe her out of jail. Then she becomes my woman." stated Joey as he smirked.

As Aurora flipped channels, she heard the panic of staff around the hospital. She hears two nurses gossip outside the window.

"Have you heard two VIP patients are on the way."

"Mr. Carter and Ms. Carter, I heard a crazy girl try to kill both of them!"

"Maybe they paid that girl to shoot them to get out of legal trouble."

"No, apparently, that girl worked alongside the patients in room xxxx."

Aurora and Joey's face turned pale, but Aurora rushed over to her brother and tugged at his sleeve.

"Joey, tell me, is the police going to figure out it was us? Why did Regina shoot Lucus?! Damn girl can't do anything right!" Auroea frantically looked at Joey's face, trying to read it.

"Hopefully, the charges are not -" stated Joey as he was cut off from the news report.

"On other news, Aurora Gale framed Sophia Adler by driving the knife herself?! Also, did she plan the shooting at the police station?! This video shows Miss Gale attacking Ms. Adler, and it proves that Ms. Adler wasn't the agressor. We believe she was also behind the shooter at the station. Now, Detective Dan is giving a statement."

The camera focuses as Regina is standing next to the detective in handcuffs and a daze expression.

"We have caught the active shooter in our station, Ms.Elderidge of the Elderidge family, who is also attacking Ms. Alder and decived everyone as a detective. Miss Regina will be interrogated to see if she has connections to OTHER crimes. She have injured two people and killed none. We wish Ms. Alder and Mr. Carter has a speedy recovery at the hospital." The detective stepped down, and the news channel changes topics.

"Joey, we are screwed didn't you bribe the police?" Aurora shook him as Joey remained silent in thought. The sound of staff frantically rolling a stretcher when a tuff of light aubrey hair was seen from the stretcher laying flat. It was Sophia. Followed by Lucus.

Aurora was angry, but the concerned for Lucus was more imminent. As the OR doors closed and Aurora watched from afar. She knew there was no salvaging the relationship her and Lucus had before if he figured out that she was behind it. In the end, her delusions tell her it's Sophia's fault. It will always be Sophia Adler's fault of why he couldn't become his wife. Aurora's mind was foggy as the sound of a hospital monitor beeped in the background.
