Chapter 13 - Toma

Kiro woke laying on his back. The ceiling was wooden with high arches and wooden beams of a darker shade than the cieling. Moaning, he tried to remember everything.

"Toma!" Kiro jerked up into a sitting position looking around frantically. He knew a clinic when he saw one but this one looked a little different.

"Morning, Master!" Toma jumped onto the bed and into Kiro's arms. Kiro held the fox to him tightly.

"Toma! I thought I'd lost you!" Kiro cried into Toma's fur.

"You're squishing me, Master." Toma squirmed in his arms.

"Oh! Sorry, Toma." Kiro lessened his grip but kept his hand on Toma's back letting his fingers glide through the Fox's fur. "What happened?"

"I was hurt and took your mana to heal. I took a bit much, though. You collapsed and were out cold for two days. The wolf and old goat are worried about you." Toma pouted a bit and snuggled into Kiro's chest before laying comfortably in his lap.

"You're awake." Leda walked in with a bowl of fruit. She handed it to Kiro and sat at the foot of the bed.

"Heard you were worried." Kiro smiled at the wolf. She really was a warrior no matter how cute she was.

"Of course I was. You're supposed to help me, remember? Also, you'll never guess who followed us." Just as Leda finished her sentence the door flew open revealing Elise's worried face.

"You are awake!" Elise jumped into Kiro's arms and started crying.

"Watch it, Lady!" Toma squealed as he barely got out of the way.

"Oh! I'm sorry, Toma." Elise said petting the fox on his head.

"How do you two know each other?" Kiro asked confused.

"This one gave me quite the scare when they brought you in. I was so worried when out of no where I hear him say, 'Don't worry, he'll be alright.'" Elise explained.

"I wasn't expecting her to scream. I thought everyone knew about spirits." Toma said sheepishly.

"I'm afraid only the forrest clans usually know of spirits. Humans are normally blind to such wonders.." Leda said trying to appear better than Elise.

"Careful, Master. I think they're jealous of each other." Toma smiled mischievously.

"You need to get those thoughts out of your head, Perv." Kiro ruffled Toma's fur roughly on his head.

"Hey! I'm just saying! Stop!" Toma complained.

"Be nice to him." Elise grabbed Toma up and into her chest.

"She's right, Kiro. You should treat your spirit with some respect." Leda admonished.

"Of course they'd take the cute one's side." Kiro grumbled.

"It's because I'm fluffy!" Toma wiggled happily as Elise rubbed his stomach.
