Chapter 13 - Capture The Flag (1/2)

"I do have respect, just not for the likes of you."

'I take that back, she's too emotional although she may think she's doing the right thing, in the long run she's not. It would have been better if she didn't say anything at all.'

"Okay there mates," Beck lead off, "what I won't have is disrespect of other people. Ash, you can sit out if you would like, I'll just inform Alix that we can't play the game and I'm sure your peers would love that."

Ash looked at his teammates and he could see the anger hidden inside of their eyes.

"Sorry," he said to Beck.

"Not to me to her."

Ash gritted his teeth and slowly turned towards Ha Eun.

"Sorry."

"Don't let it happen again." She responded.

It took everything in Ash not to lash out on her.

Auo sighed for the umpteenth time.

"Here are your jersey's, put them on quickly we only have a minute to spare," Beck stated.

After everyone put on their green jerseys Beck had them stand in a circle. The "grass" in this area was taller than most and it itched Auo's ankles like mosquito bites.

Looking around the room Auo couldn't help but feel that the area was beautiful. The hill that team green stood on was the highest hill on the field, giving Auo the feeling of looking over the railing of a tall building.

The landscape had changed once again. Before the sky was bright blue, the clouds pearly white and the grass slightly moved in the breeze. Now there was a slight sunset, The clouds turned light yellow and the grass was a shade darker.

Over there, in front of team green, team red. It was too far for him to see but he could see them warming up. Jumping-jacks, sit-ups, squats, it seemed they were doing a workout instead of a warm-up.

On the left of team red was team orange. The group was in a circle just like team green except they sat on the ground. Maxine was standing, seeming to be giving a lecture to the patients.

On the right of team green was team yellow. Mosco was crouching while everyone else stood. Kelya seemed to be the one talking while everyone else listened to what she had to say.

Beck looked at his Minc watch.

"We have two minutes before the game begins, does anyone have any suggestions on how to play the game before we get started."

Auo glanced at his teammates and internally groaned.

"Five of us should play offense while five of us play defense. The ones who play defense will be the guards of the flag. One guard will stand in front of the flag while the other four guard the flag keeper. The five on offense will pick a team to target. Does everyone understand?" Auo asked.

"Who'll be on offense and who will be on defense?" Bryan asked.

Silence once again.

"I'll pick according to what I think your athletic abilities are," Auo began, " Ahira, Smilia, Ash, Logan and I will play defense. Ahira will be the flag keeper while the rest of us will be the guards. Bryan, Jonathan, Ni, Marcus and Ha Eun will play offense. Bryan and Ni, you guys will be targeting the red team. Marcus and Johnathan you'll be targeting the orange team. Ha Eun you'll target the yellow team. Any questions?"

Ash frowned.

"How come I'm a guard and not Ha Eun? Why would you trust her to get a flag when she's taller and more lanky? The other team will tag her for sure and we lose a player. Also, who would get her from jail? I sure wouldn't. Let me be on offense instead."

Auo glared at Ash.

Seeing this Ni laughed for the first time.

"Do you know why he put you on defense? It's because you're too cocky. You think you're the sh*t but you're not." Ni said while laughing.

"Look here you son of a-"

"Hey! We don't have to play this game, we can have everyone sit this out and have the entire team be mad at you because you can't keep your sh*t together. I can see why you're here, because you're an aggressive mess. Get that sh*t under control or I'll do it for you." Auo yelled.

Shocked, Ash stuttered an okay.

'Ah, I let myself get angry. Now he's going to do everything in his power to let me have a downfall because he's too arrogant to see that he has a sh*tty attitude.'

"Sorry, I didn't mean to lash out on you," is what he really said.

A moment of silence ensued and Beck, who was standing next to Ni, walked over to Auo.

"Glad to see that we have some more order in the team, you're doing a great job Auo!" Beck said while patting Auo on the back.

'I'm just glad he put that little runt in his place. I have to keep an eye on this Auo Ju, he has potential.' Beck thought.

"Alright, we have thirty seconds left, do what you need to do before Alix announces that the game begins."

"The five that I said would be going on offense, walk down to the bottom of the hill. When Alix says start don't run, walk to your destination. Save your stamina for when it comes to taking the flag and running across the free for all. Once you make it back to our territory you'll be safe. Try not to get put in jail because I'll have to get you out. Guards follow me."

Ahira, Smilia, Ash and Logan followed Auo further up the hill. The light had gotten dimmer and the grass became a shade darker.

"Ahira, stand right there, yeah in front of the flag. I'll stand here, Smilia you stand right there, Logan you stand there and Ash you stand here."

They had made an arrow leading halfway down the hill.

'In this case the yellow team won't be able to do a sneak attack on us and we'll be able to defend from people running up to us in front. Beck did a good job picking our location, while everyone else saw a pile of dung Beck saw gold. Maybe he's smarter than I thought. I need to keep that in mind.'

Auo made some more orders and they were finally finished when a timer went off.

"Alright, is everyone ready?"

Despite the far distance Auo could hear Alix clearly.

'He must have a microphone on and there must be hidden speakers. I'm assuming they're in the corners. What a great audio system, there's no static or loud breathing. This audio system must have cost thousands!'

"When I say go the game will begin."

Alix surveyed the area for dramatic effect.

"Ready, set, go!"
