Chapter 16 - Team Effort (2/3)

Ash had tunnel vision. He aimed for a short girl from the red team. She had light curly black hair that reached her shoulders, milk chocolate brown eyes and a mole on her forehead. She was cute, really cute and Ash couldn't help but want to touch her.

He grinned wickedly in his mind, the girl was frozen in place, looking at Ash with terror brimming in her almond round eyes. The other players, seeing that one guard was distracted by another player, decided to take the chance and go up the hill.

Auo cursed.

' I swear I will never be teammates with him again!'

Smilia looked over at Auo with worry.

'He looks like he's going to snap at any moment…'

"Ash,"she yelled, " Get back up here, leave that girl alone and help us!"

Ash ignored her, he was this close to touching the girl , a smile grew on his face. One would even say it was a beautiful smile, however his eyes said otherwise.

'It's a shame that I'm going to be the one to take her out of the game. She must feel like sh*t right now, but who cares. Instead of gently touching her shoulder why don't I "trip" and accidentally land on her.'

Ash was now a meter away from the girl. He faked an expression of surprise and 'stumbled'. At the very last second the girl side stepped him and Ash actually tripped.

The two administrators that had made a bet on Ha Eun ten minutes earlier laughed heartily. The one on the right had to wipe a tear from his eye.

Ash cursed and quickly jumped up, just in time to to see the girl retreating back to the free for all zone.

"You b*tch!"

He sprinted after her.

The girl turned her head slightly to look back and saw that the boy who looked at her with lustful eyes before was following her. She smirked and Ash cursed again.

"You think you're tough huh! After I tag you you'll be begging me for mercy!

Ash pumped his legs and so did the girl. As soon as the girl reached the halfway point of the field she unexpectedly turned around and reached her hand out to tag Ash.

Ash reacted quickly and leaped back. He began to study her. She was crouched on the ground her head tilted to the side staring at him like a lioness would her prey.

He then surveyed the area around him. Many people were standing on the sidelines watching the game with interest. Ash gritted his teeth.

'Too many people are watching, I can't accidentally land on her anymore. Even now I can't tag her without the risk of me getting tagged in the process. Sh*t, this b*tch is actually smart! I should go back now while I still have a chance.'

Ash undertook to walk backwards, keeping his eyes on the girl. He saw something falter in her eyes but willpower quickly overtook it.

O o o O

Johnathan began to tire and his pace slowed. His breathing was ragged and his chest was burning. A hundred flaming needles were piercing his lungs and his throat was practically a dessert. He stopped running and took a chance to look behind him.

No one was there. He breathed a sigh of relief. He placed his hands on his waist, the flag scrunched in his right hand and scanned the area he left to see if he could find Marcus. He wasn't on the field.

A smidge of panic filled him and he glazed over the sidelines. Marcus was next to an administrator and he was looking at Johnathan. When they made eye contact Marcus smiled and waved. Jonathan blushed.

He wasn't used to overly friendly people. Sure, Bryan was friendly but he was too focused on himself to really make gestures like Marcus did. Him sacrificing himself for Johnathan warmed his heart and he hated it.

"Damn it!"

He took a couple of breaths and once he calmed down he looked straight ahead of him. The yellow team had one person guarding the flag and one other person guarding the flag keeper. He recognized the flag keeper to be the black girl he was daydreaming about earlier when he first saw her. He blushed thinking about her body against his and shook his head in defiance.

'Stop getting distracted!'

He scratched the back of his head and walked across the field diagonally. He was only forty thousand meters away from his territory. He started to jog lightly towards his territory.

Once he was close enough to the hill he saw Ash backing towards their hill slowly and a girl following him.

Jonathan raised an eyebrow.

'Isn't he a guard? Why is he not protecting the flag keeper?'

He sped walk his way towards the two and the girl turned her head slightly to see who was approaching, she paled when she saw how tall Johnathan was.

With a light tap on her shoulder, the girl shrieked and ran towards the sidelines, the administrator who came to fetch her was baffled.

Ash looked up at Johnathan and glared.

"You b*tch! She was mine! I was getting ready to tag her and you took her from me!"

Jonathan scratched the back of his head and looked behind him to see if anyone was following him, seeing as no one did he turned back to look Ash in the eyes and returned the glare.

"It didn't look like you were getting ready to tag her and you should be thankful I helped you out. Why are you so far from the hill anyway? You should be guarding the flag along with Ahira."

Ash scoffed and folded his arms. He looked like a stubborn child from Johnathan's point of view.

"F*ck that, I can play offense just as well as you or even better. I see you didn't manage to take the flag. I might as well get it for you.'

Jonathan shook his head, brought his right hand in front of him and opened his hand. The orange team's flag gracefully flew in the "wind" and Ash opened his mouth in shock.

"H-how did you get that, you didn't possibly get it by yourself!"

"I didn't, Marcus helped me, if it weren't for him I wouldn't be here."

"Ew, shut up, you sound gay, praising him like some god. You go back to the hill I'll tag anyone stupid enough to be in the free for all."

Jonathan snorted.

'Like you can tag anyone, you couldn't even tag a girl shorter than you, how can you tag anyone else?'
