Chapter 5 - Unfortunate Coincidences

" There has to be another mechanic nearby or in another town."

"Nope just me. There isn't another town for 30 miles so you're stuck with me." He folded his arms and leaned against the door frame as his grin widened. I groaned inwardly so he wouldn't get the satisfaction of my reaction. "I don't know if you noticed but...it's colder than a penguins ass out here so are you coming in or not?" I did in fact know how cold it was. I chewed my lip for a minute, contemplating just how much I wanted to be warm.

"Fine I'll come in." He moved away from the doorway to make space for me to walk in. He really was going out of his way to give me somewhere to stay and i started to feel guilty for being so snippy. "Thank you." He lead me through the garage to a set of stairs. At the top of the stairs was a door that opened to an actually pretty decent sized loft. Along the back wall towards the right corner was a very soft looking king size bed with a dresser a little farther down the right wall. To the left was a really nice kitchen area that I would have loved to have. Located in the middle and front wall of the loft was the living area. It held a large couch with a stereotypically large entertainment set up. Which if I was being honest with myself, would look amazing playing movies.

"I'm sure you would like to shower and change so the bathroom is through there." He said pointing to a door between the bedroom area and the kitchen. "You can use anything that's in there and if you need anything don't be afraid to shout." I hung my head and fidgeted with my hands, too nervous to tell him I didn't have anything to change into. "Is there something wrong, I promise I won't peek or anything." I could feel myself starting to blush. Still looking down I responded;

"It's nothing like that. It's just um...I left my clothes in my car so I don't have anything to change into." I t was his turn to blush as he slid his hand behind his neck.

"Oh, well I guess you could always borrow something of mine or I could go get your clothes if that would be more comfortable for you." I considered his offer which was very kind, but it was late and cold. Also a look out the window showed it had begun to snow again. I couldn't ask him to go out in that even if he offered.

"That's very nice of you. If you really don't mind...may I...borrow some clothes?" I was feeling a little self conscious, I had never worn a man's clothes before. Even past boyfriend's, they were worried I'd stretch them out. I was never skinny, I've always been on the curvy side which I used to be ok with until more and more people told me I shouldn't be. I hung my head, not wanting to see his reaction. He sighed in what sounded like relief.

"You got it. Give me one second." I looked up in surprise as he walked to the dresser. I shifted from foot to foot as he rummaged through the drawers and grabbed some clothes. "Alright here ya go. These should do." He hands me the pile.

"Thank you I really appreciate it." I gave him a small smile as I took the clothes and headed to the bathroom. When I entered the bathroom I put the pile on the sink and stared in awe at the glorious piece of art called the shower. It was one of those fully enclosed ones with a frameless glass door, multiple shower heads, and one main rainfall shower head. Not to mention it had a built in bench. I was pretty sure I was in love. If I had ever fantasized about a shower it was this one. I stepped in and let the hot water wash over me and unwind my muscles, it was paradise. I found some soap and cleaned up, being careful of the sore spot on my head. It was then that I realized I had never even told Aiden my name. So much had happened that day it had never even crossed my mind. I went over the events and decided I was really rude also I was pretty sure I had dreamt of the oogey boogey from the woods, there was no way it was real. As I got out I decided I was going to apologize. I started to get dressed and saw he had given me a hoodie and a pair of shorts. When I put the hoodie on the sleeves covered my hands and the bottom came to the middle of my thighs, I snorted at my reflection. Luckily the shorts had a draw string so I could tie them and they wouldn't fall down. I looked like a kid who got into their parents clothes. I was taking a while so I rushed a brush through my hair and threw it into a bun and walked out. Aiden looked up from what he was doing at the kitchen counter and smiled. I couldn't lie his smile made my heart flutter and my chest tight. As i stood there he went back to what he was doing and whatever it was it smelled delicious and had me gravitating towards the kitchen.

"You should keep those they look better on you than they do me." I chuckled self consciously and he graced me with another smile. Did he say that to be nice because I was stretching them out or did he really mean it? A plethora of self deprecating thoughts flew through my brain.

"Thank you, I'm sorry if I'm stretching your hoodie I'll replace it." He looked confused by my statement.

"Don't worry about it you're not stretching anything out." He pushed a mug across the counter to me and it was full of cocoa and even little marshmallows. My mouth started watering and I got excited, cocoa was my favorite winter treat. I did a little happy dance as I blew on it so I could take a sip. Aiden's expression had grown soft and heat started rising in my cheeks.

"Oh, before I forget I just wanted to say I'm sorry about earlier. I shouldn't have been so rude, you were just trying to help and I put you through the ringer. My mouth started to flow on it's own and I couldn't stop the words from spilling out.

"Woah slow down" he laughed "It's ok really, I could tell you were pretty stressed so I didn't take it personally."

"Oh, good. I was hoping we could start over." I stuck my hand out and had to pull the sleeve up so my hand was visible. "I'm Freya." He took my hand in turn and smirked.

"I'm Aiden." As we shook hands I looked at them. His hand engulfed mine, I had never felt so dainty. The thought bubbled up and before I could help it I blurted out;

"How tall are you?" He was taken aback by the sudden change in conversation.

"Uhh...6'2. Let me guess you're 5'0." I pouted and lifted my chin.

"No. I'm 5'1." He started laughing these deep barrel chested guffaws, his laugh was infectious and I couldn't help but to start laughing too.

"Ok ok stretch. If you're not too tired do you want to watch a Hallmark movie? I don't know about you but there's nothing more relaxing than a good natured Hallmark movie and cocoa."

"Uh am I human? Yes please!"

"Alright then. How about some popcorn?" Who was this man and did he know how perfect he was?

"Oooh, heck yes please!"

"You got it. The t.v remote is over there on the stand how about you pick one while I make the popcorn." I nodded and skipped over to the t.v. This man had to be careful I wasn't going to be there long enough to be catching feelings.
