"Good afternoon Chef Marlen, King Malphus has requested a salad be made for his bunny," Valerie said, in a more proper manner than when she left Malphus' study.
"Oh, don't tell me the King went out and bought a bunny," Marlen said as he flew around the kitchen gathering the supplies for the salad.
"No, actually we saw this one in the woods, and Malphus had a weird attachment to it so he decided he wanted to keep it," Valerie said, slipping the bunny a slice of cucumber before his salad.
"It sounds like Malphus might soon replace you with this bunny," Marlen said, mincing tomatoes into small pieces for the tiny animal.
"That's weird, even the King himself said I resembled the bunny in a way," Valerie said, bringing the bunny up to her face so that she could kiss it.
"Well, you two did meet in the woods, did you not? And you look just as innocent and adorable as the small creature. Plus, Malphus likes you and wants to keep you close to him, hence you being his personal maid." Marlen said finishing off the salad.
"I suppose, but I still shouldn't be compared to a bunny," Valerie said, seeing that Marlen had almost finished the salad.
"Believe what you want to. Here's the salad, see you Vals" Marlen said, handing over a large bowl to the girl.
"Thanks, bye Marlen." Valrie walked out of the kitchen with the small bunny, and big bowl in her hands.
Although she had no maid friends, it didn't mean that there weren't other people who worked at the palace willing to be friends with her. She had made friends out of the gardeners, chefs, and stablemen, much like Alan.
"Alright little bunny, Alan might be in our room but it would be too messy to eat inside, so enjoy the outdoors while you can. You're about to become a royal bunny after all." Valerie said in a gentle, still voice to the animal, as she put it down and it started devouring the salad.
The bunny finished it's salad and burped, then hiccuped.
"Oh, you must be thirsty now, right? Let's head to the stables to get you some water." Valerie picked up the bunny, it seeming to have a little more weight than it did when she sat it down.
She walked over to the horse stables and sat the bunny down beside one of the gentler, kinder horses. After the bunny had drunk all it was going to drink, it ran over to Valerie and rubbed its head against her leg, to symbol that he was done.
"Ready to go..." Valerie knew that she wasn't supposed to give the bunny a name, but she couldn't help it. It didn't look like a Mr.Bunny or Fluffy. It looked more like an Arlo to Valerie.
"Ready to go Arlo?" Valerie picked the bunny up and headed out of the stables.
"Mommy! What's that in your hands there?" Alan saw a white ball of fluff in Valerie's hands. It seemed to move but he could tell if it did or not.
"This is Arlo sweetie, Malphus' pet bunny. He wanted you to play with him." Valerie said putting the bunny at Alan's feet.
He stood there and looked at the bunny as if he were afraid of it. It nuzzled against his foot and he giggled. He then picked up the bunny and twirled around with it.
"Mommy Arlo is my new favorite animal. Your still my favorite person, no need to be jealous of cute Arlo here." Alan said.
"Of course dear, would you like to take Arlo outside to play?" Valerie suggested.
"Oh yes! I want to show him my favorite tree!" Alan sprinted out the door.
"I'll stay behind," Valerie yelled down the hall as he turned to a black blob then turned a corner.
"Now let's see-" Someone busted in Valerie's room.
"Oh Valerie, how is one ever supposed to please him?!" It was Francis being dramatic.
"Whatever do you mean lady Francis?" Valerie gave her a concerned look, she had come in and flopped down on her bed. The most unnerving part is that it looked like she had a petticoat on, but a little longer and thicker.
"That King of yours! You to have a pretty good relationship right? You are his personal maid." Francis said, with the saddest puppy-dog look in her eyes.
"I got this position because I know how to cater to the King how he likes it." That wasn't the truth, but how was Francis supposed to know otherwise?
"Oh? I thought you got this position because you saved him from Lily's love potion? Rumors are a vale thing huh?" This didn't seem like Francis, she was being too loose with her words. She was letting too much emotion show.
"She's had a little drink." Malphus turned the corner to show his face.
"Oh, your majesty!" Francis sat up and straightened her clothing.
"That makes much more sense," Valerie admitted.
"Francis, go back to your room now." Malphus dropped his smile and looked her dead in the eyes.
"Why? I want to go to your room." Francis pouted like a child.
"It isn't very ladylike for you to pout like that my dear, go ahead to your room now," Malphus said in a sweeter tone, and with a smile.
"Oh alright, bye Valerie, bye Malphy." Francis hugged Valerie unexpectedly and skipped down the hall, causing the dress to flow up and her butt cheeks to be seen.
"Sorry about that Valerie," Malphus said, and walked back to his study.
'This has been a long day, I need a day off. Maybe Alan and I could go visit Oscar tomorrow or some other day.' Valerie thought to herself as she laid down on the bed. 'Maybe I won't have to deal with palace madness for just one day.' Valerie thought as she closed her eyes, waiting for her silence to stop.
