Chereads / Valerie the Orphan / Chapter 43 - Missing Arlo

Chapter 43 - Missing Arlo

Valerie, relentlessly, sent him to bed and told him they'd search for Arlo the next day. She knew that the boy was extremely sad about his missing bunny. This is the second time that someone dear to him went missing, and he wasn't happy about it.

The next morning, they spent all day searching for Arlo, only after Valerie's work was finished. They checked the kitchen, the grand hall, the main hall, the servants' corners, and the conservatory, but Arlo was nowhere to be found.

Valerie even asked Rave, and the rest of her new friends if they had seen a tiny fluffy rabbit anywhere, but they all hadn't seen a thing.

One of her friends just looked at her and blinked, then they walked off. Valerie thought it was weird, but brushed it off and continued the search for Arlo.

Valerie didn't want to let the King know that they had lost his pet.. the pet he abandoned. So much for Valerie being like the bunny, or maybe not?

She walked into Malphus' study and saw him looking directly in her eyes mischievously while holding the fluffy white rabbit in his arms.

"Oh! My lord- thank you for finding Ar-" Valerie went to grab the animal when Malphus yanked her arm and she replaced the bunny, lading on top of him.

"Finding? I didn't find anything. I simply went to retrieve my rabbit because the bigger cuter one had gone missing." Valerie looked at him in awe, while still having her hands on the armrest of the chair supporting her.

'That sly dog! He took Arlo while we went to visit Rave because he knew I'd come looking for him!' Valerie thought, completely pissed that'd he'd got to this extent just to get attention. Then she thought about it, he was doing this to get attention.

Her attention.

"Why did you take the bunny Malphus? Do you know how much Alan cried last night?" Valerie asked a bit flustered but still angry.

"Need I have a reason to come and get my pet? I'm sorry, I didn't know." Malphus replied calmly, he knew what he was doing and how it usually worked on Valerie, but this time she had her eyes open, and not closed.

"Cut the bull Malphus, why did you take the bunny?" Valerie said, almost demanding to know the truth.

"Well, you disappeared, and work is no fun without you here, so I had to find a way to bring you back to me. Where'd you go anyway? I know you were in the castle, but what'd you do when you weren't in here?" Malphus asked, attempting to change the subject so Valerie would stay, but unfortunately for him, she wasn't as naive as a month ago, so she focussed on what she asked.

"You think it's fun to play with a married woman's emotions? That's sick." Valerie got off of the chair only to be pushed onto the desk.

"I'm not playing with anything," Malphus said, inches away from Valerie's face, making her blush a little.

"The door is open Malphus. I need to get back to my child, he's probably in tears now with me and Arlo gone." Valerie pushed Malphus off of her and grabbed Arlo and left the room, slamming the door.

Malphus felt as if he just got a divorce and Valerie won the kids. He flopped down on his chair and blew out a huff of air, he then rubbed his forehead.

'I'll get you back Valerie, just wait. You'll be your adorable little flustered self again soon.'

Remember this detail for later, it'll explain a lot of things! Also, the rest of this chapter is a poem, so if you don't want to read it then go ahead, bye!

If you're still here I need feedback on this poem, it's not supposed to be very gory, it's just about a girl keeping her feelings inside and releasing them in the wrong way.

The dreary girl sat at her desk with a frown

She originally attempted to turn her day around

She went to school and hid her feelings

"Who would ever like me with those things?"

She kept them inside and put on a mask

"This feeling will go away very fast"

She tried and tried every day

Nothing seemed to make it go away
