"I guess I'm feeling rather peckish, myself." Dameon says after our shared moment of silence.
I lift my head, meeting his gaze as he grins in my direction. I got up from my seat, heading straight for the fridge as I inspected the ingredients I had.
I cringed internally because I had forgotten to stock up again, although I had planned to right after Doyle had left. It was also too late to order take out, which made me curse internally.

"What's wrong?" Dameon finally asks, towering over me as he corners me against the fridge.
I flinch from the sound of his voice ringing in my ear as his breath tickles against my bare skin. I glance over my shoulder in his direction, meeting his pale blue eyes as he shifts to look into the refrigerator before freezing in place.
"This... what do you even eat if your refrigerator is all empty?" he voices his frustration in an exasperated voice as I stared at my feet.
