"You know I knew your life sucked, but not this much."
I turned my head to glare at my older brother."Eli I told you to be nice." I said and he rolled his eyes."It's not my fault. You told me you wanted to get ice cream, but instead you started to complain about your life."He said and folded his arms angrily."The least you could do is be nice." I said again and he huffed.
"But really, this whole thing is your fault? Your aware of that right?" I lied my head down on the table and stared out the glass window."I know that, you don't have to rub it in." I said and he scoffed."Actually I can rub it in, we warned you, and you still screwed up." Eli was right, my brothers did warn me and I continued to do whatever I wanted.
"Now how are you going to make it up to him?" He asked and I zoned out for a second to think. The more I thought about it the more clueless I got. There really isn't anything I could say or give to him that would make him be my friend again. I feel like a kid trying to get back something that was taken away from him for a reason. I didn't treat him properly and I didn't even notice it.
Or did I notice it and just not think about it?
"There's really nothing I can do." I said and Eli suddenly hit my arm. I immediately rose my head from the table and glared at him."What was that for?"
"For being so stupid, if anything you deserved that." He said and took a bite out of his ice cream bar with an annoyed expression."Fine I'll think of something, just stop dressing like this." I said as I stared at him. His sweatshirt was lazily rested on his shoulders and his red hair was unkempt. His black jeans were baggy and his shoes were dirty."Whats wrong with what I'm wearing?"
"You look homeless."
"And what about it?"
I stared at him weirdly and shook my head."I'm just gonna go back to school, I can't stay here with you any longer." I rose from my seat and headed towards the door."Hey, pay for my ice cream." Eli yelled, but in response I flicked him off. I quickly left before he yelled a curse word at me.
I wanted to do something different, rather than chasing after Daylyn, I'll give him space. I don't need to chase someone who doesn't want me to find them. It's better this way. Now he has the freedom to do what he wants without following me around. It's better that he does what he wants. If he came back to me, would I even treat him differently?
When I arrived at school, Riley was waiting for me by the benches in he lounge area. I smiled instantly when I spotted her."Riley." I said as I greeted her."Where'd you go, you're supposed to be my wall."She called me her wall a little too confidently. Did she just wall zone me? Does she even realize she did?
"I went out with my older brother." I said as I recalled him mocking me earlier."What's he like?" If I told her what he was like would she ditch me and go after my brothers? They'd probably get wall zoned as well."Well, I went with my 3rd oldest brother, Eli. He does whatever he wants and he's not in one place for more than a month." I said and she had surprised look on her face.
"I expected him to be like you, just older."
"My brothers and I are complete opposites of each other."
She laughed again and we began to walk around campus. Riley was getting constant stares and glares from random girls in the hallway. Despite that she didn't looked at all fazed. It was almost as if she was used to getting stared at. Not that it matters anyway.
"The weekend's almost here." She shrugged her shoulders and continued to walk forward."So maybe we can go on a trip together? You know just the two of us." She looked up at me with wide eyes."A trip? With just me and you?"
"That's what I said." I looked to the side awkwardly as the stares in the hallway were starting to affect me.She went silent for a moment to think,"Okay we can go on a trip, that sounds fun. I haven't been out in a while." She looked up at me and smiled. I swear my heart did a whole back flip.
"Okay then how about we go to that Christmas festival that's downtown and stay at a motel nearby?" She nodded her head excitedly,"I love festivals! My dad used to take me all the time when I was younger." Her smile was brighter and her eyes lit up with excitement. She has no idea how happy that makes me when she smiles.
I never ever want to see her frown.
This was the perfect opportunity to get her even closer to me. Now that winter was approaching and fall was practically over, I could woo her towards me with the holiday spirit. I shouldn't be getting ahead of myself, but it's better if I plan ahead. I don't want her to wall-zone me like earlier.
"So your okay with it being me and you only?" I asked again. I just had to make sure I wasn't dreaming and I wasn't making this all up in my head."Of course I'm okay with it, should there be a reason I shouldn't be?" Her head tilted at me and her eyes seemed bigger. She looked like a confused puppy.
"No there'll be no reason, just trust me." I said even though I was having second thoughts myself."It'll be fun." I said reassuring her again."Of course it will be, I'm with The Liam Henry of our school, how would it not be fun." She said as she threw her arms in the air to exaggerate.
I squinted my eyes at her,"What's that supposed to mean?" She laughed lightly,"It means there is no possibility that I could get bored with someone like you."
I clutched my shirt right where my heart was, she really has no idea what she's doing to me, and that just hurts even more.
