The trees moved with the calm cold air. Winter was coming very soon and it didn't help that my family though it would be a great idea to have a family dinner. This time I decided to go, because mom would be there and I haven't seen her in a while.
I wore jeans and a plain graphic t-shirt, with a hoodie over it. I'd probably make dad more angry that I wasn't dressed up, but that's not my problem. I'm not wearing a suit, it's too cold for that. I sat at the long rectangular table next to my oldest brother and my second oldest brother. My dad was on the shorter side while mom sat directly in front of him. She looked annoyed at the sight of him.
"So boys how have you been?" She asks looking around the table. My oldest brother Dean looked overly happy to share his news."Well an art gallery wants to showcase my art." He said proudly and my mom clapped her hands excitedly."That's wonderful Dean, I can't wait to see." She turned her head towards my second oldest brother."Sean what have you been up to lately?"
"We started a new experiment at the lab recently, it's going well so far." Sean said and my mom clapped her hands again."That's wonderful Sean, I'm so proud to have a scientist in our home."Then she turned her head towards my third oldest brother and frowned.
"What have you been up to lately Eli?"
"Absolutely nothing."
He swung his legs on top of the table, shaking the plates. My mom looked as if she was about to explode. Eli was much more carefree than all of us. He did whatever he wanted and when he wanted. He died his hair dark red and shaved it on the sides. He always wore clothes that looked like that haven't been washed in days, and he always carries a lighter with him. He was so free, I envied him for that. I wish to be as carefree as he was.
My mom shook her head in disappointment and turned to my fourth oldest brother."Jay what have you been up to?" She and he shrugged his shoulders."I made 1200 this week so there's that." He said and my mom clapped her hands excitedly for the 100th time."That's absolutely stunning Jay I'm so proud." Then she looked at me.
"Liam what have you been up to lately?" She said and I looked around the table nervously. Everyone was suddenly curious to see what I had been up to. So to tick off my mom more and to have a little bit of fun, I decided to tell her what I've been doing exactly.
"I got punched int the face twice for flirting with someone's girlfriend, and I'm still talking with her."
"Liam!" My mom yelled angrily and I smiled at her innocently.
"Nice one, do it again."
"I never knew you knew how to flirt."
"When you get punched your supposed to punch back, equal punches only."
"Be careful from now on Liam, that's dangerous."
All of my brothers were either worried or laughing with me while my mom stared at me with a frown on her face."Liam this is unacceptable behavior." My dad finally spoke up and I turned to look at him. He wore the same expression as my mom. Then Eli scoffs,"Let the boy live, he's an adult now dad, he can do what he wants." Eli did finger guns at me and took his lighter out.
"You need to get yourself together." My dad said and Eli rolled his eyes,"I have and I'm doing just fine, thanks for asking." He as he yawned loudly."Sean tell your brother how unkempt he is!" My dad yelled and Sean turned to face Eli and looked at him seriously.
"Your doing great, while your at burn a bank down and bring back as much money as you can." And my mom gasped loudly. Eli put a hand over his heart and wiped a fake tear."You're the best." He said and stood up from his seat."Where are you going young man?" My mom said as she quickly rose from her seat to stop him.
"I'm taking my older brother's advice and burning down a bank, I'll be back in a couple hours with some body bags so wait for me." He said and started walking towards the dinning room entry way."Eli get back her right now!" My mom yelled before quickly following after him.
"Get some milkshakes on your way back!" Dean yelled to him and Eli waved him off"Me too!" I yelled and before I knew it there was a loud slam at the end of the table. We all turned our attention towards my dad. He had finally stood from his chair and his hands were pressed on the table firmly.
"This was supposed to be a happy family dinner. Now you all have ruined it!" He yells and Eli scoffs."Son't act surprised old man. For years you treat us like were test subjects for the family company. Are we even a family anymore?"He walks back to the table slowly.
"You boys are such unruly behavior, how did it come this." My mom yells and Dean sits back into his seat slowly."I wonder why? We're all so different and we all have different things we want to do. I mean we all know what you want dad, right Liam?" He said and looked at. All the attention was on me again.
"He wants me to inherit the company so bad that he lied to paparazzi and told them that I would inherit it." I said and my mom gasped. She looked at my dad surprised and he suddenly became quiet."Seems like you have some explaining to do." Dean said and Eli began to laugh loudly."You crack me up old man, anyway it was fun, I'm off." Eli said and continued to leave the room.
"I'm leaving too." Sean said and followed behind Eli."I'm not coming back so don't call me." Jay said and followed everyone else."Liam and I are leaving." Dean said and grabbed my arm to pull me out of the room."Where are we going?"
"Were going to help Eli burn down a bank."
"What?"
