She still hadn't found the way out when the door opened and reviewed the face of her father.
- Are you trying to escape?
- F-father?
- There is no way out, don't you think I have predicted that you'll try to do so!
- So? What if I do? – said Sarah standing up and facing him, while trying to hide her nervousness.
- You ungrateful child! Do you believe I deserve that after everything?!
- Are you sure you want me to answer?
- It doesn't matter! Until you decide to willingly come to my side your freedom will be mine!
- Fine then! I'll join forces with you, but you have to promise me to not get your nose in my own business!
- Deal!
They then shacked their hands and Sarah looked at the unconscious men, laying on the ground.
- What are you going to do with them? – asked she – They failed their task.
- You don't have to know that, but be sure it won't be pretty.
She immediately understood what her father meant by this and left the room.
After closing the door, she heard the sound of broken things.
She looked around.
The room she just got out of was indeed a basement.
She now was staying in a long corridor with white walls and wood floor. From the sealing hanged a chandelier, probably a really old one, because there still were candles instead of lightning bulbs.
- What even is this place?
- You know the mansion your grandfather gave us? – the voice of her mother came from behind her.
- The one in the middle of the sea? – she turned around.
- Precisely.
Sarah could no longer hide her surprise and looked at her mother with widely opened eyes.
- So you are telling me that we are in the middle of nowhere?!
- Only here are we completely safe. – the older woman naturally looked at her daughter – Plus there are no official documents for the existence of this place.
- I see...
- Why don't you look around? The place is quite nice.
Sarah still couldn't believe this was true. She was all surrounded by water on a man-made island, which on top of everything didn't even exist in the mind of the world.
She looked around once again and headed up to the end of the corridor. There was a big window from which she managed to see how much land there actually was.
The island on itself wasn't huge, but was big enough to have a mansion, garden, twice the building, and a forest as big as Central park in New York.
How could nobody know about this place?
She turned left and saw steps for the second floor.
After going up, she found herself in another long corridor which was exactly the same as the previous one, but this time instead of a window there was a staircase to the top where the helicopter stayed.
- You can choose whichever room you like. – her mother was once again behind her – they are all free.
- But what about school? How will I get there?
- The helicopter is always available.
- But what if it's empty?
- We have our own gas station on the top.
- Then how will I go for the missions I have?
- Helicopter. Any other questions?
Sarah stayed there in amazement.
"They really want me to stay. I'll have to take the most of it."
Then she looked at her mother.
- Why?
