Chapter 26 - Chapter 25

Within no time, Mom walked in my bedroom door with Shukla alongside.

"Baby, how did you get sick?" She asked as she hugged me dearly. "Why did you not call me when you started feeling like this?"

"Mom, I did not want to trouble you early in the morning, that's why."

"Caring for you would never be a trouble Roop, you are my only child, it is only fair that I spoil you in all the ways."

At a loss of words, I hugged her tight with tears in my eyes. Soon Mom pulled back and kissed me on the forehead.

"Looks like you have a fever too, have some soup I prepared. Also, I have asked Alyssa to prepare some khichdi for you, it will be here shortly. You can rest after you have lunch. And recover quick my dear, my heart hurts to see you this way." Mom said handing me a bowl of soup.

It was a chicken soup, spicy and flavorful, just how I like it, and surely made by Mom, instead of the chef. This was the perfect soup to cure a hangover, and I was thankful for that.

After an hour, Mom left for the family house after making sure I had my lunch. And medicine too, which I of course pretended to consume, before spitting it out. It is so tough keeping up an act, even more so when it is in front of your mother.

I did not need to go to the office for the day as Mom asked Dad to take care of the work, so I had nothing to do but rest. Soon, I drifted to a deep sleep.

I could see a pair of blue eyes staring at me, as deep as the ocean. But there was also a fire burning inside that calm ocean.

"I found you, it is you and me hereafter, no one apart from us," he says into my ears.

I woke up with a jolt, sweat covering my forehead.

"What was that? How could there be a random man in my dreams when I love Reyhaan? No one else is supposed to be there." I kept mumbling to myself.

Looking at the time, it was past 7 pm, Reyhaan must have reached home. So I decided to give him a call.

"Hey Honey, what's up?" He sounded joyful on the other end.

"Just missing you."

"Want me to come meet you?"

"I would love that"

"Will be there in an hour"

I hung up the call and dialled Preeti.

"Hey, where are you?" I asked her.

"Just downstairs, preparing to go home. When did you wake up?"

"Just a moment ago. Reyhaan is coming over, what needs to be done?"

"WHAT? WHEN?"

"He said about an hour."

"Hold on" With that, she dropped the call and came running to my room.

"Mam, you should... should really not.. decide things so on last.. last moment." She said gasping for breath, probably from the effect of running up the stairs.

"Come here," I said patting to the space beside me on the bed, and handing her a bottle of water.

"I dialled him randomly, and he offered to come" I said shrugging my shoulders, "Should I have denied?"

"No, absolutely not!" she squeaked, "But you need to prepare before he reaches here. Go take a shower, I'll make necessary preparations." With that, she pushed me into the bathroom.

If she could, she would have sent some attendants to help me shower at this point. Not that I would let her.

In the shower, I simply slid off the white slip dress I have been wearing all day, exposing my bare skin, now covered in sweat due to the weird dream I had a while ago. Turning the shower on for cold water, I let it slide down my face, over my bare chest and back. Easing the sting the dream caused me. With the water touching my body, I could let go of what had tormented me a while ago. Why did those pair of blue eyes look familiar to me?

Deciding it was enough blues for the day, I focused on massaging my head with the soft leather of peach scented shampoo, erasing every ounce of anxiety and sadness that could be smelled from me.

After about 20 minutes of cleaning myself, I walked out of the shower, with a beige robe covering my body, and saw Preeti laying out a ton of things for me right there.

She sometimes scares me so bad.
