Dimas doesn't like it. In fact, it bothers him. Throughout the entire Capricorn tournament, Lilee and him weren't really regarded as anything special. So insignificant that they were one of the few teams to not have any merchandise, however those other teams were the ones disqualified on the first day. Yet, Team Corvus merchandise only appeared on the shop stands this morning. Shirts with the name Corvus on the front with the duo's silhouettes on the back, a picture of one of the duo's faces, plushies, and one stand even had an amazingly accurate painting of some of their fights, although that possibly could've been done with a Brío Arts which Dimas saw as lazy. Of course Dimas knew why the merchants suddenly began selling Team Corvus merchandise. The merchants may doubt Dimas's slim chance of victory but were preparing on the off chance of it happening.
Dimas had asked Lilee if they were entitled to any of the profits. Apparently, those profits went towards Onaq's city fund and any money reward will depend on any sponsors willing to back them. In other words, they are being cheated and not getting a single Crild after the tournament.
Currently, the duo are sitting in their locker room. Dimas can see a large number of audience members with Team Corvus merchandise.
[At least, it helps spread Corvus's name. Now if only it would get us some money…]
In the crowd, he spots Scott and his team wearing Team Corvus shirts while waving flags with Dimas's face on it.
"Aww, that's sweet. They're cheering us on." Lilee points at Scott's team.
Dimas looks away. "Makes me wanna gag."
Lilee shakes her head with a smile.
The moustached man welcomes the audience. "Ladies and gentlemen, today is the final day of the Capricorn tournament. We only have one fight today but it's the fight that will determine who will have the honor to proceed to the Aries tournament. Sebastian from Tango, Dimas from Team Corvus, please make your way to the ring!"
Lilee gives Dimas a couple of slaps on the back, a little harder than usual but Dimas chalks it up to her excitement. "Good luck, Dimas!"
Dimas nods and steps out into the ring. Sebastian is already there waiting. He must want to end this as soon as possible. Good. That makes two of them.
The moustached judge holds up a Crild.
"Tails." Sebastian doesn't even look at the results of the coin toss. Why should he? Even if Dimas wins the support call, he has no support to call and if Sebastian wins it, the match won't last long enough for it to matter.
The coin lands on heads.
"Dimas has the s-support… advantage?" The judge sounds unsure to call it that. Everyone already knows Dimas and Lilee are the only ones on their team and Lilee was already called.
[At least one thing is going my way. Since I can't call anyone, neither can Sebastian.]
"Fighters, I know it goes without saying but this is what it has all led up to. Across from you is your final challenge in this tournament. Prove to us that you are the one deserving to move on to Aries."
The bell rings.
Sebastian smirks. "I wouldn't call this a challenge, it's just another minute wasted on some kid who doesn't understand he's way in over his head."
"Don't get ahead of yourself, old man." Dimas takes off his shirt and holds it in his hand.
Sebastian wolf-whistles and claps slowly. "Are you gonna put a show on for the people? This might not be the best place for that."
Dimas ignores him. It probably does look odd now but that'll work out in Dimas's favor. It means Sebastian won't be expecting it.
Dimas charges ahead. Sebastian takes his hands out his pockets, he knows Dimas is a serious fighter compared to his other opponents, he may be egotistical but he's not careless. While Dimas closes the gap between them, he wraps the shirt around his left arm. He goes for a punch, Sebastian catches it with a huge smug smile on his face, just like Dimas planned. Dimas punches with his right arm, catching Sebastian by surprise, the hit causes Sebastian to let go while stumbling back. Dimas doesn't let this opportunity go to waste and proceeds to continue his assault. He leads with his left arm in case Sebastian goes for a grab and kicks Sebastian's legs to keep him off balance. Dimas can't believe this man made it this far in the tournament. He has some fighting experience but no way in hell would he ever win in a fair fight against a capable fighter. That's the danger of relying too much on Brío Arts, something Dimas won't have to worry about.
Sebastian flails his arms around in a desperate attempt to protect himself. It works. Dimas has no choice but to retreat to avoid any contact with Sebastian's hands.
Sebastian is scowling. Any sense of the laid back attitude he had before is long gone. "You little bastard! You figured it out, didn't you?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Dimas adjusts his shirt to better fit his left arm, it was sloppily done the first time while running.
"How!? Nobody else figured it out!"
"Doesn't matter."
It was fairly easy deducing Sebastian's Brío Arts. The information Dimas got from the man at the bar along with something Sebastian had said gave Dimas everything he needed to complete the puzzle. The man said the punch Sebastian gave him left him with a burning sensation that was getting more painful by the second but there was no mark on him. 'I'll burn it into your mind', that's what Sebastian had told Dimas, Dimas thought it was a stupid threat at first, but as it turned out, it was a stupid attempt at word play. Without knowing it, Sebastian had practically told Dimas his Brío Arts, it wasn't the punches that were dangerous but his touch. It left a fire behind, not a physical one but one that could be felt nonetheless. Dimas thinks that it probably affects the mind and not the body, making it think that it's in pain. That's why his opponents would go down so easily, you can train your body to be resistant but if the pain is all in your head then that's a different story.
That's why Dimas wrapped his shirt around his arm, as long as Sebastian didn't make skin contact, he would be okay. The question now is will it work again?
