Chapter 7 - 07 | MAYHAPS

With each passing second that went by Alexia did not know how to react.

Should she call to be let out or wait for the person to leave. Her breathing grew narrowed.

Just in case, Alexia looked around in the dark closet for something sharp to protect her. She scrambled around but the only thing she was able to find metal in the dark were her father's belts. Grabbing a leather belt with metal pieces on them she held onto them.

The footsteps grew closer. She knew the person outside must have found it strange to find an object holding the door shut. Alexia awaited in a stance to escape. He must have grown curious, who wouldn't. Even if it was a hunter looking for any more survives in this house. The same person that had taken her mothers life...

Hearing the object being removed from the door, Alexia pushed the door open making the person outside stumble backwards from the force of being hit with the door.

Noticing the leather cloths, Alexia did not bother to look at the hunters face. Instead, she twisted the belt in both her hands and went behind the hunter.

Alexia used the belt and began chocking the hunter by his neck. The hunter tried to pry her hand off of him to lessen the strain of the belt from wringing him. But he had no luck.

The hunter tripped onto the floor on his stomach while fighting against Alexia which she used to her advantage. Putting pressure onto the hunters back, Alexia pulled the belt around his head and pulled back making the hunter arch his back.

"That's for my mother you son-of-a-bitch. For my unborn sibling and for my family." She gritted out through her shut teeth while pressing them shut tight. She kept on pulling until the hunter went limp below her.

Letting loose of the belt Alexia scrambled to her feet pressing her mothers dress down.

Leaving her parents room and going down the stairs she stopped when she gazed in the living room.

Her mother's life-less body was sprawled out on the floor. Her unnatural curly hair was on her face showing that she had struggled against her attacker. Blood surrounded her body.

Placing her palm against her mouth she held it there to block her sobs. Walking backwards shaking she headed for the door but it was a mistake on her part not knowing what to expect.

Present moment

The scene before her was horrifying. Lifeless bodies of wolves and humans were sprawled everywhere.

Bloody guts making the once fresh green grass now tainted with the unholiness before them.

There were barely survives seen.

She ducked out of the house hoping not to be seen by a hunter.

Shaking with fear she cried, tears were like a waterfall flowing non-stop. After all she had witnessed on her part.

Her life as she knew it has ended because they all tried to save her. Everyone and everything she cared for was now taken away. Taken out of her grasp unless she gives into letting go of her life to reunite with them.

Pulling her emotions together she began to formulate a plan in her head.

First she should make sure she is not seen.

Secondly she should find that bag.

Thirdly make it out alive and escape far away.

She was now running on her adrenaline realizing the situation she was now in alone.

Looking around the front of the yard she tries to recall where she might have left the bag.

Noticing a body over a bag, she stepped forward carefully watching her surroundings for hunters.

She pushed over the body trying not to let her emotions get the better of her.

Grabbing the bag she slung it on and began running to the nearest set of trees.

She ran hoping not to be noticed because if she did those hunters would not have given up until she was a dead dog.

But Alexia knew not where she should go. Making sure she was far from the houses had she stopped.

She looked around for the strongest trees with strong branches that could hold her weight.

She began climbing. Her skin were being pricked by the tree wood. It felt like tiny needles piercing through her skin.

Sitting on the highest tree trunk she could climb and was far off the ground. Leaves surrounded her making sure that anyone below would not be able to see her.

She swatted a fruit fly away from her face and dusted around her for any big bugs.

Pulling the bag off her shoulder she let her legs dangle as she rested her back against the tree. She placed the bag in front of her and opened it.

Item such as a pair of cloths, three bottles of water, packaged food were placed inside. Also, a book and box where under the pile of cloths. Not bothered to open them she took a bottled water and drank half of it then placed it back inside and zipped the bag shut.

Moving to the side column she spotted her phone, took it out and put it on. Her screen picture were of her family. It was a picture on her graduation day. A selfie that included Max and her mum and dad. They were so happy that day and proud of Alexia. Letting out a longing sigh, Alexia tried to get her location of where she was. Swinging her arm around trying to get a signal to find her way out and after almost dropping the bag, she gave up after getting no signal.

Giving up on trying to find a phone signal she noticed a piece of paper sticking out of the side pocket.

Recalling when her mom told her that she should read the page for instructions made her begin to unfold to read it.

It was not what she expected. She thought maybe it would be an emotional letter or maybe exact details of what she should do next. But this was totally unexpected. It read;

Follow this and please obey them.

It is best for you to find your own way. Don't live amongst our kind anymore or the hunters would find you. Rather try to fit in with humans and live their life.

Good luck Alexia. We will always love you.

Confusingly with anger she thought, and she squashed the paper in her hand.

"Living with the same kind that took everything from me...never."
