Chapter 9 - The Fool

"You seemed entertained fool?" asked Jonathan.

"Of course, I have never seen such a duel," said Schaffe. "I guess it's my turn."

  "Are you mad?" asked Victoria.

"Sir, I recommend you not fight him. He was able to dispatch Alucard with ease," said Jay worried for Schaffe.

  "Nah," said Schaffe.

"Well, you have no weapon sir," said Jay.

"You have my eating utensils?" asked Schaffe. Jay opens and he gets out a fork, knife, and a spoon.

"Sir, you not serious?" asked Jay.

"Ah, perfect," said Schaffe. Schaffe picks up the spoon to use.

"You have gone mad," said Victoria in disbelief.

"This is a bad joke you chose a tool that is the worst of the three," said Jonathan.

"Now I think what I chose will even surprise you," said Schaffe.

"I'll make sure you die easy then," said Jonathan, Jonathan then went in for a stab attack, and Schaffe blocked with the spoon in his right and in another flash, Jonathan appeared behind Schaffe. Jonathan seemed surprised.

"Do you feel a bit lighter on your head?" asked Schaffe. Jonathan looks and sees his braided hair ponytail on the ground as it is cut off. Schaffe takes off the boater hat and tosses it at Jay who catches it.

"That was a fluke," said Jonathan.

"Oh, and here I gave you a haircut for free," said Schaffe with a smirk. Jonathan goes for a slash with his knife but Schaffe blocks the blade with his spoon.

"It seems I may have underestimated you fool," said Jonathan.

"Not the first to say that," said Schaffe. Jonathan jumps back and puts his knife away.

"I won't be holding back anymore," said Jonathan. He draws his rapier in his right hand.

"No more mister nice vampire now," said Schaffe. Jonathan takes a step forward. Schaffe starts to have a bad feeling about him and gets on the defensive as he knows he messed up, he could be dead. Jonathan goes for a vertical slash at Schaffe it was fast to normal people. Schaffe blocks it but seems unsure if he should keep using a spoon to block a sword. But all sudden Schaffe feels a sharp pain in his chest he looks down as he sees Jonathan has pierced his chest on the left side with his rapier.

  "It's over," said Jonathan.

"Oh, Damn it," said Schaffe before he falls onto his back. He watches as Jonathan leaves and he passes out.

A week goes by and Schaffe awakens in his bed.

"It seems I have survived death?" questioned Schaffe. He sits up and sees he has been bandaged up around his upper torso and he is wearing pajamas pants. Jay comes in.

  "Ah, you're awake," said Jay.

"How are the others?" asked Schaffe.

"Alright, after he left things have quieted down," said Jay.

"I see then everything is alright," said Schaffe. "You did a good job patching me up."

"It was Miss Dracul she seemed to know the magic that can heal people," said Jay.

"Amazing, it feels like I never got stabbed at all," said Schaffe feeling his left chest.

"Well good," said Jay. "You should go thank her she has been in our Library. She even helped clean it up a bit with our new servants at work."

"Will do," said Schaffe. He gets up and puts on a white dress shirt and heads down to the Frye family library.

He enters the Library which he has not seen cleaned in years.

"Damn, it looks great," said Schaffe. He looks around and sees Victoria sitting down reading a book on an old sofa chair and she sees him.

"Ah, so you live I knew you would it seems your lifeforce did not want to give up," said Victoria.

"Yes, and I should thank you for tending to my wounds," said Schaffe.

"Well, it was my fault for not noticing I was being followed but I still wonder why he did not show up earlier," said Victoria.

"He seems different than you and Alucard," said Schaffe as he sat down by a nearby wooden chair.

"He has even turned his back on father it seems. But it probably saying that because of his eyes. it is a sign that he has embraced his vampire lineage. He has taken lives It was around ten years ago it was around when my mother was executed in a village because the people there feared us," said Victoria. "He was angered by this that they would do this to someone innocent. it was on that night that the village would suffer a sad fate he slaughtered the whole village no one survived and he returned covered in blood and his eyes looked like that he had become a monster."

"A monster huh?" questioned Schaffe. "I see I think I understand now."

  "You understand?" asked Victoria.

"When I was a young boy, my father disappeared and it was just me, my sister, and my mother but one night a man broke into our home. My sister was lucky as she was at a friend's home and I was alone with my mother at home. She hid me in a closet as a man would come in killing her as I watched him kill her but he saw me and I too was to suffer this fate and I was frozen with fear with in me and I could not move," said Schaffe. "But a neighbor called the police and this is what I saved me from this fate."

"I think I get what you saying You two kinda suffer the same thing," said Victoria.

"But we are different in a way," said Schaffe. He gets up and leaves her be.
