Chapter 51 - Derby County (3)

The derby players kicked off as the game resumed with Man City now leading the game by 2 goals to 1.

The derby players tried to force a goal but the man city players would immediately try to pressure the player in possession of the ball instead of falling back to defend the space.

It was a risky approach but it led to a very close chance for the man city striker. A man city player robbed derby possession of the ball and quickly sent a long through pass to release the man city striker.

Who quickly ran and got to the ball before the derby defenders who were very close to him. He quickly shot the ball towards the net from about 40 yards out as he saw that the derby goalkeeper was a little out of position and was quickly trying to get back to his post.

The striker quickly shot the ball towards the net before the keeper could get back to his post, but the ball wasn't on target as the ball went just wide of the post.

It was getting close to the 70th minute and Tony who wanted to achieve the condition to copy the speed skill of B- was still yet to score.

Both teams battled it out for possession as they both tried to craft chances to score more goals.

At the 73rd minute Tony read a pass that the defensive midfielder of derby was about to make and silently rushed in between the trajectory of the pass as he slid and intercepted the pass.

Immediately he intercepted the ball Tony quickly stood up and passed the ball to the man city striker who was positioned in between the two central defenders of derby, after he made the pass Tony immediately started to run towards the 18 yard box of derby.

The Man City striker recieved the pass and held possession of the ball as the two central defenders quickly rushed towards him as they attempted to get the ball. The man city striker held the ball and looked up to see Tony trying to run past him and he immediately sent the ball between the two central defenders towards the derby 18 yard box.

Tony rushed past the derby defenders who were trying to quickly change there direction towards the ball, as he quickly took the ball into his stride and went into the derby 18 yard box for a one v one chance against the derby goalkeeper.

The keeper tried to rush forward against Tony, who now quickly slowed down a little and then he immediately increased his speed and performed a series of step overs to confuse the keeper.

Tony edged a little closer to the keeper and raised his right foot up to shoot the ball but instead, he used the inside of his right foot to skillfully shift the ball towards his left foot before he then used the inside of his left foot to curl the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.

The ball went into the net as the goalkeeper whose balance had been disstabilized by the series of fancy footwork from Tony could only stair at the ball that was now seating calmly in the net.

The Man City players rushed up to Tony and celebrated the goal in a frenzy as it finally gave them a two goal cushion in the match.

After a while the match resumed as both teams continued to battle for possession of the ball. The man city players continued to remain focused as they tried to not give away any goals to the opposition.

It was now close to the 80th minute and Tony was not tired like he used to be when his stamina skill was still at the grade C. Now he could still easily continue running effectively better than most of the other average academy players up to the final minute.

Coach Taylor made use of his three permitted substitutions and Tony wasn't subbed off as he still appeared to be very energetic.

The referee finally blew the whistle to end the match which man city won with three goals to one, as Tony and John completed the full 90 minutes of the match.

Both Tony and John even managed to score a goal in the match making both of them equally satisfied with the match. John also got an assist for the first goal as he had assisted the right winger. But Tony had more to gain as he had successfully completed the condition to copy the Speed Skill of B- from the match.

The players shaked each other after which Tony looked up into the stadium to look for his family and friends. The fans in the stadium were below a thousand as that was usually the average attendance in an under 18 academy match especially when the match wasn't against a top 6 opposition.

Most of the fans were usually friends, family or classmates of the players. With only a very low percent of football fans who were genuinely interested in watching the academy matches live and only very few would choose the youth matches over the first team matches.

Tony finally found his family and waved to them before he looked around and waved towards his three close friends who were seated together in another side of the stadium.

After that tony and the players walked towards the locker rooms to have there baths and change there clothes.

Coach Taylor later came in to the locker room and happily congratulated the players and gave them a free day from training and then fixed a time for training on Monday morning.

Tony got home and relaxed with his family at the sitting room as they chatted together about a few things. He relaxed and enjoyed himself until it was getting late and they all had dinner together.

After dinner Tony got to his room and lazily jumped on his bed as prepared to sleep. He quickly remembered about the speed skill just as Rose was about to remind him as he then started to feel the cold feeling all over his body once more.
