Gracelyn woke up to find Hildegard still cuddled against her though they didn't expect to fall asleep either. Before she could be fully awake someone barged into the library.
"Sis, we have to go NOW! Larkin is about to get his head chopped off for some unknown reason but I believe it has to do with the fact that you ran away." Tessa said in a rush of words.
Gracelyn slowly got up, placing Hildegard on the pillow, and then walking to her sister.
"We traveled here by ship. How are we supposed to get back to Evigon in time? And how did you find this out?" Gracelyn replied, folding her arms across her breasts.
"Laila came back to let me know in a dead sleep that Larkin is in trouble. We need to find a way back to Evigon because by boat it will take too long." Tessa explained in a rush.
"Ladies, what is the commotion?" Hildegard said half asleep.
"Our guard Larkin, is about to get his head chopped off for unknown reasons by our father." Gracelyn explained as she helped Hildegard off the floor.
"You can't stop beheading ladies, whether you know him or not. But if you must get to Evigon in the back of this castle their is a trail to Evigon that you can take by horse and carriage." Hildegard explained gracefully to both of them.
"Will you wait for my return?" Gracelyn asked Hildegard.
"Is that a proposal?" Hildegard asked in return of Gracelyn's question.
"Not exactly. I want to know you more as I hope you will for me." Gracelyn replied.
"I do not wait for anyone, Princess, as I serve a Kingdom. Send me a letter of when you can return. Go save your Kingdom." Hildegard responded then left the library.
Gracelyn saw her sister smile.
"Seems you may have found her." Tessa said.
"No time for romance. We need to get home! Can you leave Lacey here?" Gracelyn asked in a rush out of the library.
"I can but leaving my wife here wasn't part of the plan I had in mind." Tessa explained as she tried to keep up with Gracelyn.
"What do you mean part of your plan? LARKIN WAS SUPPOSED TO BE YOUR HUSBAND BUT YOU REFUSED HIM BECAUSE OF OUR PARENTS. YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE QUEEN AND NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED!" Gracelyn yelled in frustration.
"Woah! Hold up, who said he was supposed to be my husband? Larkin and I had our romance but when I loved a woman more than him, my feelings faded; it happens." Tessa explained gently without yelling.
"For a sister who was evil at one point, sure has changed reality." Gracelyn replied a bit calmer.
"Growing up does that to a person but honestly if you want happiness go back home and forget Hildegard and marry a guy so our Kingdom is kept safe from our parents' mass messes including Larkin." Tessa responded with her head down.
"So, she will be my lover instead of my wife because you couldn't become Queen and now, I am forced too." Gracelyn replied with frustrated tears.
"Actually, Tessa, by law your sister can't be Queen. You will have to divorce Lacey and save your Kingdom but that means losing Larkin in the process." Hildegard said as she pulled Gracelyn close to her.
"Why can't she be Queen?" Tessa complained.
"Adopted. It is against the Kingdom's liability to marry an adoptive to someone who isn't royalty. So, Tessa get your wife and save Evigon." Hildegard replied with satisfaction.
Gracelyn smiled at her sister with her own satisfaction that had come to Tessa. Tessa left the room with fury and that is when Hildegard turned Gracelyn around.
"I wanted to tell you long before I met you but I had no idea that they would actually try to make you rule a Kingdom that isn't yours. You are just Gracelyn Hyland their is no Princess into your name whether adopted or not. You aren't Queen Jones, they kept your last name and for that they should have seen their mistakes." Hildegard explained while holding Gracelyn's hands in hers.
"I have lived in royalty for nothing. I am a plain boring human being. I shouldn't be wearing dresses or crowns. I shouldn't have been adopted by Xavier and Deanna. This is all one big mistake. Hildegard, I have to see my parents and turn down everything and return everything." Gracelyn replied through shredded tears.
"No, you lived in royalty because your parents love you, no matter what. Evigon is your home and that is your world still. You aren't royalty but you treat the world like it. Gracelyn, you and Tessa may fight but she will always be your sister." Hildegard responded by wiping Gracelyn's tears.
Gracelyn felt her world fall apart and wishing she never traveled beyond her home because now her world is upside down. Gracelyn, placed on her heels, then ran out of the castle to find Korin. She knew Hildegard wouldn't dare chase after her. She knew it would be a long shot that he would stick around with his crew for more than a day but she had to find him. The village people looked at her like she was crazy for calling out Korin's name everywhere she went. Gracelyn dropped down to the ground crying her eyes out then let out a blood curdling scream because she couldn't figure out anything. She didn't want to rule Evigon by force of marriage, she wanted freedom but she felt it was costing her much more than that. None of the villagers cared to look at her as she stayed on the road crying her eyes out and screaming every chance she could. It made her look crazy but she needed to release every stressful thing inside of her. She felt unworthy of anyone keeping her, including Hildegard whose took her in and gave her love that even her parents rarely did.
Gracelyn dragged herself off the ground then made her way back to Hildegard for safety until Korin appeared back into her world if at all. She wanted to be on that ship again and get close to him.
