He lived in a world filled with supernatural beings walking the face of the earth alongside humans without their awareness. However, that had nothing to do with the reason why his hand was shaking in anger and his whole demeanor rigid.
To say that he was upset was an understatement. He was totally furious as he tried his best to control his temper lest he broke the wine glass he was holding… again. It was the third time now that he was stood up in a supposed dinner date.
His short and wavy silvery-white hair almost gave a mellow glow under the chandelier hanging on the ceiling of the fine dining restaurant where he was in… or rather, where he was already waiting for almost four hours now. His amethyst, almost crimson, eyes were looking so sharp and yet so bored as they gazed upon the wine he was slowly sipping. The earrings dangling on his ears made him look a little rebellious but still added to his overall charm. His white tuxedo was already a little bit creased, adding to his irritation. Not to mention all the stares the people kept on giving him was enough to drive him insane. He knew he was a little good-looking for the humans but being ogled at while alone in a restaurant was still unnerving. Not to mention yet again that the fucker whom he was supposed to meet chose to see him in the middle of a bustling human city in the middle of the day and then had the nerve to not show up.
The only reason why people kept their distance from him was most likely because of the prominent scowl decorating his face at the moment. They also couldn't see the dark aura surrounding him but they could definitely feel it.
"That fucker…" He gritted his teeth as he gave out a low growl only he could hear. "I will definitely kill him when I finally meet him."
He asked for the bill and paid the meal he didn't even enjoy before he stood up and left the classy restaurant. He was beyond annoyed and the humans staring at him even on the streets weren't helping at all.
He was almost bristling – from the heat of the sun or from anger he didn't know. All he knew was the fact that his supposed arranged fiancée agreed to finally meet him in person after all this time… only to make him wait for several hours again without showing up.
He sighed inaudibly as his strides turned slower. Ares Lir… He knew the person didn't agree to the marriage proposal and was only forced by his parents. He also knew that this person almost did everything to make the Hagano Clan back out of the arrangement, even going to the length of hiding in his so-called school of 'peace and harmony'. Anyone would probably feel the same way if they found out they were suddenly arranged to marry someone they haven't even met before, not to mention someone of the same gender. It would have been terrible for him too… if he was betrothed to a woman.
He was actually surprised that his father agreed to make him marry someone of the same gender. It was his one and only request. He was really curious as to who it was because his father usually had a high standard. He was even more surprised to learn that it was none other than the famous Ares Lir, the one and only successor of the Lir Vampire Clan.
And to think he was so excited… only to learn later that day that Ares wanted to cancel the engagement so badly he had to leave their home and go to a faraway school without further ado…
He had seen Ares only in a picture sent to him by Vera, Ares's mother. The pureblood was unearthly handsome. His striking aqua-colored eyes were very prominent because of his wavy light-blonde hair. It was obvious that the photo was a simple stolen shot taken by Vera herself but it was still pretty good. The picture of the nineteen-year-old Ares sitting in the balcony chair while reading a book was just too breathtaking for him. He actually even felt his heart beat a little faster at the sight. If only Vera didn't call later that day saying Ares was furious when he had learned he got engaged to some other male pureblood without his consent. Vera assured them that the marriage would continue but that they just had to convince Ares a little bit more.
He knew all of those things and yet he was still furious enough to glare at each and every one he could lay his eyes on as he walked down the pavement. He was Seth Hagano, for god's sake! He's the one and only future pureblood leader of the Hagano Vampire Clan! He knew the Lir family was also a pureblood family but that didn't give this Ares person the right to thoroughly humiliate him so easily. It's true that he was just seventeen, still so young to be considered as a leader, but he still was the sole son of Luca and Muriel Hagano, the pureblood leaders of the Hagano Clan.
He felt so frustrated and so angry somehow. He had never even met Ares and he already wanted to kill him. His pureblood pride kept getting tainted and he knew he wouldn't last long if this kind of setting continued. He initially wanted to just cancel the engagement and just marry someone else who would not make him feel like an idiot while waiting for someone who wouldn't come. However, he just felt somehow that it was like allowing Ares to win the whole ordeal and he just couldn't bring himself to do it.
"Like hell I will back out." He growled out quietly as he gave one particularly nasty glare to a kid who immediately cried.
And yet, and yet, at the back of his mind, he knew that every time Ares refused to meet him, his heart ached a bit for some reason.
How he wished… Ares would at least see him in person…
The other pureblood didn't even need to marry him immediately…
He just… wanted to be given the chance to introduce himself properly... and talk to Ares…
