Amari was beyond herself with disbelief. She felt more than just concern for her master seeing that a pureblood vampire had to do these lesser nobility things just in order to hide his real identity. It would, of course, be disastrous if a presumed normal human were to arrive in a faraway school complete with vampire servants in a limo. But still, having to pretend to be human would make Seth experience lots of hardships in life. She didn't know if she could endure having to watch while he suffered like that.
If only she could do anything to somehow lessen Seth's pain…
Not to mention she could hardly move inside the taxi seeing that she was sitting together with her master. There was no way she would try to move even an inch. It would definitely make him uncomfortable. She wanted to apologize for being in the same car as her Master Seth too but she already lost the timing. She was thinking of taking a different taxi but her master opened the car door for her too and she didn't dare disobey him.
Seth, on the other hand, sighed at the awkward atmosphere in the car. The taxi driver kept on glancing in their direction, probably wondering why the two passengers weren't talking to one another. He wanted to glare at the driver and just command him to drive faster but he remembered that he was supposed to imitate human behavior. Now that he thought about it, what did humans do inside taxis anyway..? Did they talk about themselves? Did they have fun and sing just like in the human movies that he sometimes saw his servants watching?
Perhaps a simple conversation with his servant would make the driver a little less suspicious of them.
"There's no need to be so tense. Don't forget that we are just humans." He tried starting a conversation with his servant, not at all looking at her. He didn't think it would sound like a command when he thought it but it somehow ended up being a command anyway.
If possible, Amari turned even more rigid from those words. "Yes, master." It seemed she also didn't have any idea on how to act like a human.
Seth sighed inwardly at that. He wasn't much of a talker in the first place and this human pretense just wasn't a very easy thing to do. He was just glad that the driver didn't seem to be looking at them in the rearview mirror anymore and was just concentrating on driving.
They arrived at the school gate after a while. It was much bigger but was much more normal than he thought. He really imagined it to be grander, being a place where Ares Lir went to. Or rather, escaped to. He watched in mild amazement as the huge gates opened on their own. Seth wasn't sure if someone used their power or if it was automatic since the pureblood's senses were terribly dulled.
After the car went to a halt, the two of them finally went out of the car with satisfied expressions. Seth knew he was finally, finally going to meet Ares soon. Amari, on the other hand, felt relieved that she finally managed to escape the suffocating enclosed space called a 'taxi.'
The clearing of a throat made Seth turn around and he arched an eyebrow at the glaring driver. It seemed the driver had already removed the luggage from the car's trunk. Amari had started carrying some of the heavier ones in order to not inconvenience her master. She would have carried it all without effort if she didn't have the seal charm but a little of her powers were also sealed. And besides, she couldn't use superhuman strength in front of an unsuspecting human. Part of the treaty between supernatural beings and the Nephele Clan was that all supernatural activities should remain a secret to human civilians. Breaking this important decree was punishable by death.
"Letting your girlfriend carry the luggage on her own is just too gentlemanly, if I may say." He voiced in deep sarcasm, causing both Seth and Amari to glare at him. He didn't notice the female's expression since he was looking at Seth. However, he did see those amethyst eyes almost turning crimson from even daring to speak to him in that kind of manner. The driver didn't know why but he felt a sudden chill just from looking into those scary orbs. He immediately went inside his car and scampered away in fright.
Seth blinked at the moving car in the distance. Was the driver perhaps… asking him to carry the luggage too? He then looked at Amari. She seemed capable enough to carry all the luggage on her own so he couldn't see any reason why she would need his help. Perhaps it was one of those human traits that he just couldn't understand. For a pureblood vampire such as him to actually help a lesser vampire in menial chores was something of a huge humiliation for his family. He would never do it… until he remembered that Amari's power was also partly sealed by the charm.
"I'll help with the other luggage." Seth voiced as he approached her.
Amari's eyes widened and she actually looked mortified. "Please, master! Allow me to carry it all!" She immediately gave him a deep bow. "It would be a deep humiliation for me and my family if I were to allow Master to carry luggage in my presence." It was her job to serve Seth to the best of her capabilities and to think Seth would do something like this was unheard of. She would die of shame if he were to help her do even this.
She needed to make sure nothing bad would happen to her master. The Owain family had been Hagano servants for some millenniums now. She wouldn't be able to forgive herself if Seth got hurt while on her watch nor would the Hagano Clan leave her family unscathed. Of course, the same went for making Seth do her job.
"It's fine." Seth simply said before he took two rather heavy-looking luggage. "We are humans, remember? Humans do these kinds of menial things all the time."
Amari wanted to argue but, in the end, she simply bowed down and allowed her master to do as he pleased. He was right. It wasn't the time for this. She needed to follow her master's good example of imitating human behavior. She didn't even think of that. Her master was really a genius.
