Chapter 7 - 1.7

The most annoying thing about the whole past's memories was one thing.

They came gradually not everything at once and they left a large gap at every part of the memory.

The old man, the last man I had tea time with before I died.

I started to think he was The Jade Emperor.

He was spilling so much to me, I decided to keep calling him old man though just in case a random person had an ability to read my mind.

It wasn't fair, I put down the heavy scroll from Hu Ming, the scrolls he brought when I asked about him information about my future mate.

The Great Phoenix from the South.

The great phoenix wasn't the only one phoenix in this realm, they were several phoenixes in here but yet the /ancient one/ was the oldest.

Also, the history said they had numerous lovers in their long life span.

What a BIG fat lie.

If the old man said was true and I chose to believe him instead of the history written on this old scroll.

The ancient one only had two lovers in their hella long life till now, I was the third and the first one is chosen by the Jade Emperor, the father of the immortals.

The first one was not clearly written on the history but the old man told me it was the ancient's one first love and they lost their beloved in the Great War millenniums ago.

The second was from the bird clan, it was mentioned in history because their child became the next Vermilion bird.

The true guardian of the South while the ancient one remained in the position of an elder, watching his son ruled over their region for a long time till their time was up.

The ancient one had more children but the others were born from their fire, not biologically connected but born from his power instead.

Wasn't that amazing, having children without the need for marriage.

Immortal was different indeed, I nodded and saluted my future mate.

The lies they wrote about the ancient one, it wasn't right but yet it was the history people in this world believed.

I wondered why The Great Phoenix let this kind of bad story loomed over them, weren't they didn't care about it at all?

Or they were too tired to mend with the brainless people who trusted the written story?

I was glad I knew this fact before I marry them, or I would think of them as a bad immortal who feasts on luxury and having a harem.

Wei said it was normal for immortal like them to have a harem, usually famous clans would send their member as a gift and it would be rude to reject them.

The history said the ancient one loved their past lovers equally, another lie.

Based on the old man, this immortal was a big romantic idiot.

They only gave their love to their first love, what a sappy drama …

"I'm tired …" I sighed, throwing the stupid history scroll full off lies. They shaped it to make as if The Great Phoenix was some kind of immortal who loved to have a room full of mindless beauties.

The other side of me knew half of my irritation because my growing fondness to the old birdie, but still, they did no justice to my future mate!

I wondered what the phoenix's opinion when they heard me, a mere human chosen as their future mate.

It had been 898 years since the last time human saw him, the great phoenix's last form was a man with crimson hair at that time.

I saw his painting, Elder Wu brought it in our last class yesterday.

A nice pretty man with fair skin, not broad or bulky, more like slim and lean. He was about my old self's height, the eyes were calm and giving a cool vibe.

Some called him heartless, some called him professional.

Elder Wu said in the past, he was famous for his cool demeanour. The perfect image of an elder and the ancient one.

His beauty was known worldwide but none of the other immortals or human dared to approach him in his flower field.

Yes, he lived alone in his manor in the middle of the forest in his mountains.

While White Tiger, the one who ruled my place was famous with its green hills and mountains.

The Great Phoenix's place was full of volcanos.

It was beautiful, the land was good for corps, but it also dangerous with its daily earthquake and explosion at some point.

It was hard to visit his place but based on the lucky one who ever saw it, they said it was a gem hidden in a basket full of volcanic dust.

The hard path leading to heaven, more than ten thousand miles of colourful flowers and trees.

Plum, Cherry Blossom, Gingko, everything.

It must be lonely, to be all alone, far away from the South Palace where his clans and offspring lived together.

Both Hu Shi and Hu Ming said not long after the last of his appearance to the public, he died and nobody ever sees his rebirth form.

What a waste, I wanted to see him dies and rise from his own ashes like how Phoenix being reborn in the fantasy book I read.

Not yet, I thought inside my head.

It was a clear day when I got out of my room, my father was picking up herbs from our garden for the last time while my mother preparing for a feast my family decided to make.

It officially our last day in this village and with the silver and gold the Capital sent to us, my parents agreed with the feast for the entire village.

I was honestly proud of my kind and humble parents.

They were too busy to notice me slipping from our house to the nearby lake, I walked while enjoying the soft breeze.

Then I noticed a girl squatting near the lake, throwing stones to the calm water.

She wore a simple robe (the people in here likely using eastern robe like in Chinese or Japan, it was a mix, I love their style though), similar to the girls in this village but instead of the long robe that almost touched the ground.

She wore a matching skirt barely reaching her knees, it was like a mix between this world and my old world.

The sleeves were pretty long, the end of it was wide as a normal robe but she pulled it till her shoulders, giving her a tomboyish vibe.

The skirt seemed too modern but oddly not out of this place, she looked away from the lake and noticed me standing near her.

Her hair black, turning brownish when the sun illuminated her. Wavy hair reaching her mid-back, she was clearly bored.

"Don't sit like that older sis," I said innocently, she raised an eyebrow, "I can clearly see your pants."

She snorted and didn't move from her position, "No, you're not," she patted the place beside her, gesturing me to come.

I walked closer and squatted down, watching the calm water being disturbed.

"Yes I can but I choose not to stare," I replied, she huffed and then sat on the ground, crossing her leg like a meditation position.

The soft pink clothes made her look adorable, she looked young but not underage. My instinct said she wasn't young but her body was petite.

"What are you doing in here?" I asked, handing more stone as she kept throwing stones to the lake.

She shrugged off, "waiting," she said, I hummed because I didn't really want to know why she was here.

She looked lonely, her face a little blank but I could feel a little irritation, "what's wrong?" I questioned again.

She was about to reply, mouth parting then her stomach growled loudly.

Both she and I exchanged a glance before I broke into a burst of laughter and she pulled her lips into a thin line, clearly embarrassed.

I got up, feet a little sore for squatting too long, "come, come," I offered my hand, "my mother is making a huge feast for the entire village!"

She stared at my offering hand, "a feast?"

I beamed with happiness, I guess I could play an eight years old boy perfectly now after a lot of practices (Hwan helped a lot, a real epitome of cheerful and bubbly kid and how to react as a young kid).

"Yes! For our farewell party, I'm sure you can join too, sissy," she watched me waiting, her eyes turning into a crescent as she smiled.

"Okay then," she agreed as her face turned into a pretty dazzling smile.

She accepted my offered hand, we walked holding a hand to my house.
