Chapter 2 - My Twin Brother, Part 2

"You know, my fist is itching to punch you right now." I told Lyde while skinning an apple for him. By the time he was already conscious, I made him explain himself why he got into such a mess.

"I already said I'm sorry! Geez." This stupid brother of mine got himself in trouble by joining this so-called gang. But he ended up beaten badly because they thought he was looking for a fight. I sighed at his stupidity for the fourth time whenever I thought of it. "Why do you even want to join a group of thugs?! You know yourself that you're bad at those kind of things, you can't even land a punch on me!" I yelled at him.

He frowns at me and looked away. "I wanted to get stronger."

"By joining some gang of delinquents?! If you wanted to be stronger, you should've paid more attention when dad was teaching us self-defense and stuff."

"I didn't want to learn that from dad, it's lame!" He complained.

How childish… I calmed myself down before I could do something that'll extend his stay in the hospital. "Then you could've requested dad to pay for your boxing lessons instead. You'll get nothing by joining troublesome gangs."

"…no way." Lyde muttered quietly.

My fist automatically formed into a fist, but I stopped it from flying to his face by my other hand. "Damn it Lyde. Don't you know how worried grandpa was when he knew you were sent to the hospital?!" I asked, trying to find some conscience within him.

Can't believe that he's the older twin and yet he's way more immature than I am. "Y-Yeah." He nodded. "And I'm sorry for that."

"Dude, you should tell that to grandpa. Not me."

"I will. I'm also apologizing to you, since you were also worried for me." He said. "I brought nothing but trouble to you guys."

"You sure did!" I agreed.

"…not just that. I have never done anything great. I'm not strong, I'm not smart, I'm not talented either! I…" his voice started cracking as he cried about how pathetic he was. It was pitiful but I can't feel sorry for him at all.

The hospital bill will definitely take its toll on us later. I bet grandpa would make me go through part-time jobs to pay for this. If I was heartless, I would keep talking on and on about how troublesome Lyde truly is. But my brother is actually going through the inevitable emo phase where he's so pessimistic about himself.

"I know. You're a loser, Lyde. A complete utter loser. You've never done anything before, and it's a pain in the ass that you got into this situation…" I added.

Lyde stared at me like he was waiting. "And?"

"That's it. Do you actually expect me to add something nice so you can feel better about yourself?"

"You're the meanest girl ever! No guy would ever like you!" And now he has the guts to get mad at me. My brother is truly a selfish prick, he only thinks about himself than what's for the better of our family.

"Yeah, and no girl would ever want a wimp like you."

"Tch." Why did I even visit this jerk? Then out of nowhere, he started talking about the incident again.

"You know that there was two guys who got killed, right?" He asked.

"Hm? Were they your friends?"

"No… actually, they were also from the same school as me but I don't really know them well. They were the first two that was trying to join but ended up beaten to death, and when it was my turn, my friend Ace called the police because he was scared that I might be the next one to die." I got goosebumps hearing that from him, if he died just like that… I don't know what I would do.

"Then I should be thanking your friend for doing that, if it weren't for him then my stupid brother wouldn't be here with me right now." I said.

"Yeah… I really am stupid. I even dragged my friend into trouble like that."

"You're the worst!" I really can't figure out what's going in his head despite being his twin sister. He's just so stupid that I can't keep up with him. "Also, I got a request!" He blurted.

"And what will that be?" His face is really thicker than the walls in this room. He's been getting on my nerves the moment he woke up, and he thinks I'll do him a favor?

Lyde bows down to me on his bed and asked politely. "Sister, I know I've donw nothing but trouble. But please help me! I know you're a girl but, I hate to admit it but you're really strong! So I… I!…"

"W-What?!"

He lifts his head and looks at me with tears on the corner of his eyes. "Please help me avenge my friend!"
