"Keep running damnit!" Jax'in screamed to himself as he ran over sand dune after sand dune.
As if in response to his scream, one long horn could be heard just beyond the sand dune he had just ran over. The resulting din after that one long horn could only be compared to a stampede of wild beasts, for just beyond the dune were several dozen roaring cavalry riders accompanied by nearly thirty bellowing foot soldiers all sprinting in Jax'ins direction. The noise from the battalion of soldiers only grew louder and louder as the distance between them dropped. In a moment of desperate curiosity Jax'in did the one thing he should never have. He looked over his shoulder at the advancing troops, and only one sentence followed that look.
"Oh. Fuck me!"
What he saw was a stream of soldiers all cresting the dune directly behind him, he guessed there were around a hundred of them. Maybe more! He quickly looked forward as the adrenaline inside his body spiked, giving him that extra boost of speed that only fear could give. Even that wasn't enough however, as the cavalry units quickly gained ground.
It didn't take more than a moment for the riders to be breathing down Jax'ins neck as they chased him down with everything they had. Jax'in knew in this very moment that he had screwed up big time. As the first of the riders bore down on him with spears thrusting for his chest with the singular desire to impale him, and in a moment of desperation, he jumped. He jumped over the spears and managed to grab hold of one of the lead riders saddle, kicking the rider off the horse to be trampled by those behind him.

No sooner had he mounted the horse than a spear thrust came raging from his left. Jax'ins Luck held firm however as the movement from the galloping horses caused the spear to slide along the front of his chainmail, allowing him to grab the shaft of the spear and push back on it causing the other rider to tumble off his horse and be trampled as well.

Jax'in rolled his eyes at the windows that appeared in his vision, it had only been a couple weeks since this "System" magic had saved his life, and now he swore the damn thing was criticizing him. He didn't have much time to think about it however, as two more spears came barreling towards him from both sides. In what he would later claim as "his plan all along," his horse stumbles in the sandy terrain causing him to lurch forward in the saddle and have the two spears become caught in his tattered chainmail. After taking a split second to right himself in the saddle he felt the two soldiers tugging on the spears caught in his chainmail.
"Hey, I think you dropped this!" Jax'in yelled at the two soldiers.
They only looked at him in confusion as he looped the spears in his arms and yanked on the reigns pulling the his horse to a skidding halt and throwing the two soldiers off their horses and into the surrounding stampede of war horses. And to Jax'ins immense surprise no new windows popped up in his field of view as he kicked his horse into a gallop once again. The battle went on for only tens of minutes before Jax'in found himself to be the last remaining one on horseback. After looking over his shoulder one final time he noticed that the remaining foot soldiers were retreating. He had somehow survived against an enemy nearly a hundred strong. and that's when the prompts appeared.

"Huh... that's new." Jax'in commented to himself as he scanned his surroundings.
In the short amount of time that he had possessed the 'System' it had always given him some ridiculous time limit to get things done. At least this time it seemed like he had some time to figure out what was going on and how he managed to come out of that battle seemingly unscathed. After wandering around the desert for what felt like hours Jax'in decided to bring his examine the map the 'System' provided.
He had hoped that the map would give him some clue as to where this pyramid oasis could be, however luck was not with him on this one. All the map provided were both active and abandoned trade routes through the desert with only a few small looking oasis'. To make matters worse, the closest oasis looked to be a few hundred kilometers deeper into the desert. All Jax'in could do in this moment was lower his head and push forward, so that's what he did.
Only a few hours had gone by since the battle, but the problems Jax'in was facing were only increasing. Namely, his lack of a sufficient water supply under the scorching desert sun, and his horse was not in good shape. I kept slipping and sliding down dunes slowing Jax'ins pace considerably. In these few hours he had been traveling since the battle he had only gone a little over 12 kilometers. Finally, it seemed that his luck had finally run out. The horse tripped while nearing the crest of a dune and tumbled down the hill, throwing Jax'in off somewhere along the line.
"Ahh damn." huffed Jax'in after standing back up only to see the horses neck bent at an unnatural angle. "So much for the easy way..."
So, he continued on foot, constantly climbing some sand dunes and having to go around others. The sun had finally reached the apex of its journey across the sky when Jax'in finally collapsed face first into the sand from the heat and lack of water. He was tired, thirsty, and hot, god was he hot sitting underneath the unforgiving sun. He could feel his mind slipping in and out of the dark hole of unconsciousness. During those few precious moments of consciousness he would crawl towards the oasis his map told him was there, but in that last fit of wakefulness he could feel a warmth on the skin of his arms. Not the harsh, unforgiving warmth of the sun, but a gentle, soothing warmth like that of a mother.
"Chief, he's slipping again.... elf... oasis..... camp....." a mysterious voice that he could barely make out spoke to his left before he felt something cool press to his lips.
Water.
It was water, he was saved! Before he even had time to think about what he was doing, he snatched the container of water and drained it dry. Only to feel it all come flowing back out his much to the sound of purring laughter from those he still couldn't quite make out. He could feel the embrace of unconsciousness start pulling him in so he said the only thing he could think of.
"Water."
And blacked out once again.
