Deus.
This was the one and only name that this young mortal had. No, it could be said to be the only possession he had.
Abandoned at birth, adopted at five, and abandoned at six. This was about the only story Deus had.
For no reason whatsoever, Deus simply couldn't be adopted.
And so, he became age eighteen with no guidance, family, or connections. An age in which the orphanage he lay wouldn't take care of him any longer, he was an adult.
Yet, his motivations remain intact.
"I will make this world a better place!"
Deus didn't have a very positive view on the world or people around him, it was simply:
"Humans are trash! This world is trash!"
If the gods wouldn't fix their mess then Deus would.
The streets were littered with trash, and you may be thinking something along the lines of, 'Well yeah, people don't clean up after themselves,' but the trash isn't materialistic. It's the humans all around you.
Yet, Deus had immense hope in the creatures that had mistreated him throughout his life. After all, he was human too!
"Although... I don't really know how I'll make my dream a reality with no money, house, or friends."
Right now could be the worst time for Deus to let his mind wander. He was wearing the same clothing all week, he hadn't showered for five days, and he was starving. His house was his greatest creation, a tower he had built himself, he was proud of his assortment of boxes!
With no education to speak of, Deus truly couldn't do much to get himself out of this situation. He tried going to churches for help, but he had found that the self-proclaimed places of God were simply businesses with God's backing. He wasn't a religious man, but he wouldn't deny the existence of a God, especially when he hadn't even heard the two words "big bang" used together in a sentence.
And so, he prayed. He prayed every day with more faith than even the poorest of families, with more faith than even the pope, with more faith than the most extreme of zealots. He wanted and needed help.
"Oh great God of this world, give me the power to fix your mistakes!"
This was the phrase he repeated every night, even before the orphanage kicked him out. He would get down on his knees, and clasp his hands as he had seen people do in churches.
Until finally, it happened.
Deus heard the most perfectly masculine voice in his head, affirming his request.
"Aight fam, get up to it." it had said.
'What?' Deus thought.
The world went dark.
-
Deus had lost all eyesight he had, yet retained his ability to think. After trying to speak, he realized the very idea of speaking was impossible.
'Where am I?'
This was the only question Deus had. Of course, he didn't expect it to be answered.
'You in da' shadow realm, compadre.' the very same voice from before said.
If Deus could talk, he'd probably scream something along the lines of: "Who? What?! Where?!"
'Who are you?' was all he thought though.
He was more than smart enough to realize he wasn't going crazy, it was far too realistic, at the very least he was just dreaming.
'Yoyo, I'm the guy you were just screamin' at fam! I 'preciate you man, call me God.'
'God? You mean my prayers worked?'
Dumbfounded was the only word that could be used to describe Deus, he was just praying for the sake of it! He didn't expect God to actually listen to him, and even then he wouldn't expect such a direct response!
'Yuh, I see what you mean fam, the humans of my creation are literal doodoo water,' God said, turning serious the next moment, 'and you... you have fulfilled the criteria needed to replace me.'
'What?'
'You have fulfilled the criteria to become the next God!'
'What?'
'Man... I'm only asking because free will is a bitch, but you wanna replace me and fix my mistakes?'
'Of course! But, what were the criteria?'
Deus felt weird about this conversation, he couldn't see, taste, feel, hear, or smell anything. On top of that, the entire conversation happened in his head.
'Oh, lit! You wanna replace me! Alright fam, ttyl lol, gonna make this transfer shit happen asap.~'
"Wait!"
'Huh, my voice worked?'
'Lol bruh, I gave ur senses back now, also ur an omnipotent powerhouse now so like, give the readers this cliffhanger!'
