Anvis had no idea if he made the right or wrong decision surrounding training Skyler further.
He would never go against his king, wouldn't 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 of it, but he became very oblivious of what consequences may affect Skyler dangerously.
He just hoped her father might open his eyes and see what would happen to Skyler if the Rulers don't change their minds.
He already feared the worst.
Anvis couldn't completely blame King Scott - Having not only to worry about his family but the rest of the people in the village.
Skyler should've been on top of the list, though.
Walking to his old wooden cabin away from the people and hidden insight, he stood in front of it.
An old cabin from years ago in his past life still stood. Snow covered his boots and his fingers were frozen to the bone.
Before he could stop himself, Anvis took a few more steps forward and reached the rusted door handle. Regret flowed through his eyes as he had no idea why he went there.
He hadn't been there in decades, yet here he stood now, opening an old tin of worms full of memories - bitter and sweet.
Twisting the door handle, Anvis couldn't decipher which emotion thudded the strongest in his heart, but the cold was too much to handle.
He couldn't take it.
Avnis looked around the dusty cabin and the small contents it held. A feeling of familiarity overwhelmed him. All of the sadness and happiness shared there threatened to implode within him.
Creaking noises sounded as he walked around the place, reaching the fireplace with all the pictures framed neatly and on top.
Anvis picked one up and rubbed his thumb against it, removing the thick layer of dust that settled after all of those years.
His heart beat in 𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘵.
He missed his wife more than anything in this world. Not a day went by that he didn't think about her. She was his life support, joy and happiness.
Once upon a time.
When she died due to illness, Anvis had lost a part of him. Something painful tugged at his heart. He pushed it aside, trying not to let it ponder any further.
Anvis never had children with Annie. When she passed, Skyler came along. Anvis thought back to when he swore he would love Skyler and protect her like his own because she-
He banished the rest of his thoughts before it could finish. He didn't know how to feel about it.
Anvis put down the picture of himself and Annie to pick up another with Skyler, Lucas, William, Annie and himself.
Shame tugged at his heart again and he wouldn't know what Annie would've thought.
He would do 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 to know.
Anvis stared at the picture a bit longer and placed it back where it got taken. He sighed long and hard. He hoped William knew what he was doing regarding Skyler.
She's a smart girl and strong. Really strong.
"She obviously inherited it from her." He said, thinking aloud. "That power..."
Hearing the words echo into the emptiness made Anvis snap out of it. Looking around, he forgot where he was and what he was doing.
And there she stood, dressed stunningly in a yellow dress, baking.
He appeared behind Annie and hugged her until she squealed with pleasure. Turning around, she kissed him. Anvis looked into her eyes. "I love you."
"Forever and always." She replied. "I love you."
And the memory disappeared like dust in the wind.
