I twisted the key in the door and the yapping started. My brain was on the brink of shutting down. I hated puzzles, that was for sure.
Fatigued and annoyed, I dragged myself towards the closet.
My voice must've gone up by three octaves when I opened the door.
"𝘔𝘺 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴!"
A fanged wolf wagged its tail in front of me with my now shredded clothes on the floor. I didn't know whether I felt anger for Claw or myself for such a brilliant idea to leave a frickin' 𝘸𝘰𝘭𝘧 in a room filled with clothes.
"Hey, bud." My knees cracked as I bent down.
Claw snuggled into me before literally bouncing away and running around me. I couldn't help but laugh.
"You should consider locking your door if you keep wolves in your room."
My bow and arrow were in my hands in less than a second.
"Hunter?"
He should really stop doing this to me.
I didn't drop my hold. "Don't touch him."
My gaze could have broken rock. He had a smirk on his face, his hand still on the doorknob.
I wanted to punch that smirk off.
"Don't worry, Sapphire. I won't tell."
His smirk grew. So did my irritation.
"My name isn't Sapphire."
Why was he here? My mind kept running.
"What do you want, Hunter?"
His head turned to Claw who was playing with my ripped clothes, and back to me.
"Wanted to check up on you. See how you were doing." He shrugged.
Check up on me? 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘦.
"I'm fine." I lied. "Now leave."
"So suddenly."
Hunter walked over towards my bed and sat down.
I stared at him in disbelief.
You're 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨.
I lowered my bow and arrow. Claw jumped ahead of me and went over to Hunter.
My mouth opened to stop Claw. The words died on my lips when I saw him interact with Hunter like they knew each other.
He was never like that to me. Hunter showed me his perfectly aligned teeth when he saw my expression.
I scowled.
"Don't worry Sapph. I'm special." He winked and I rolled my eyes.
I swung my bow and arrow around my shoulder, stood up and turned to Hunter with my arms crossed.
"Like what you see?" Hunter's head was still bent towards Claw.
𝘜𝘳𝘨.
"Not." I turned around.
Wait, he's still in my room. I turned back.
"Why are you still here?"
"As I said, I wanted to see if you were okay." He said coolly.
"As I said," I mocked, "I'm fine."
My side still hurts like a 𝘣– well you get it.
"You're lying." Hunter still didn't look up.
It was like he could see right through me.
"What? Do you want to see for yourself?"
"I mean I wouldn't mind..."
He lifted his head to look at me - his hazel eyes 𝘰𝘰𝘻𝘦𝘥 amusement.
My face felt warm and wrapped my arms across my chest. "Get out."
I ushered him towards the door. Hunter put his hand on the doorknob and asked, "What's its name?"
Who? What's wh-
"Oh. Uh, his name is Claw."
"Cool." He nodded and closed the door.
Somehow I felt he wouldn't tell anyone. It didn't seem like his style, but I didn't even know what his style was.
I looked at Claw that looked back at me.
