After sitting there thinking for a bit I thought training with my dual swords might be a great idea, so far I didn't used any techniques that I had learnt while I was training in military, I needed to swing those swords properly to get the most out of them.
I went to the nearest building, which had the training room with my two swords
I stood there and closed my eyes trying to remember what I was taught.
After some concentration, I was able to hear a voice...
It was Major's voice, from when he was training about, how to use dual swords properly, if needed we were to recall this.
'First your right leg must be at front. Make a steady base by spreading your legs just the right amount. After that stretch your right hand towards your enemy. Your blade's tip must point towards the enemy. The other hand should be bent and at the same level, or over your head. Again the tip must be pointed towards enemy.'
'Next you need a way so that, after every combination of attacks, you can get back to the same position to continue the attack. With dual sword you should worry about speed, not strength. If you can swing the sword fast enough. The enemy won't be able to attack you if you are fast enough. And because of speed you can cut more easily.'
'Start with a left, down diagonal swing with your right hand. then a right swing with both of your hands, the left hand must be behind the right hand. After that do a duel swing towards left, then up, right, then straight down. Afterwards you can either, continue the duel swing three combo or, do a left, up swing with your left hand followed by a cross swing. Now with another swing get your hands, towards their respective places. Now you can do the same combo again.'
'For blocking, you should always try, blocking with the two of them at the same time. The most common block with duel swords is cross block. placing the two swords in a scissors like position, if you can catch the enemies attacking weapon, in between the two swords, it most likely will stop. Then you can try to cut their weapon in half. It is the most effective way of blocking, as along side defence it can be used as counter. You can even use this position to start the combo, that I showed and explained.'
'The second type is not recommended when your enemy is stronger. You can stretch one of your arm and try to block with one arm. If your enemy is stronger than you, it will most definitely fail. Use this when you couldn't use the other one, but try to avoid any situation where you have to use this. Even if you pull this off, there is a great chance you will hurt yourself. But even then, depending on your situation it might be better to use, than the first one.'
'Judge your own situation before using any of these.'
'You should always remember, this is not for fighting humans mostly, but when you encounter an aggresive animal which can dodge your bullets to force a close combat, use these melee combat methods to fight them. You can use these attacks even if you have something that, resembles swords only a bit. Don't expect to have a sword when you need one.'
'And before I finish, I can see some of you are confused. I guess you think, animals are going to be too afraid to attack anyone with a gun. Don't get fooled by the behaviour of domestic animals. Those in the wild have evolved so much so, not many can hit them with a gun. It's almost certain you will have a close combat with them. Only those who have good enough aim can shot them down. After all they are the reason that humans were divided in to three groups....'
I was lost in thoughts for who knows how long. But my focus was at last disturbed by a sudden sound of footsteps.
I asked who's there while not opening my eyes.
"It's just me." answered Carl.
"Weren't you supposed to work on those scales?" I asked as I got up.
"Yeah, I just put emm' in the furnace, they take too long to heat up, so I thought I could check on you." he answered. "So what are you doing?" He asked.
"Ohh... I was trying to recall the training I had with major to remember how to properly use duel swords. Though I got a little carried away in thoughts." I answered.
"Hmm... I see." replied Carl, "So you were doing a short of mental training then?"
"Yeah, pretty much" I replied back.
After a very awkward moment of silence, the silence was broken by Carl saying "So, I was wondering, would you like to spar a bit. Just for Fun, you know, I haven't spared with a human after I had passed my training of swordsmanship and forgery. And it might be a fun and learning experience for both of us."
"So you like sparing as well as forging, huh? well not that I'm surprised, you are pretty skilled with a sword. We can spare, although when you don't have something in the forge, heating up, you wouldn't want it to overheat now would you?" I replied.
"Ohh... I almost forgot, okay I'll be going now and you should get back soon too, it's almost dinner time. bye." He replied while leaving.
'Wow it's already dinner time, how long was I spaced out?.' I thought and after practicing the techniques that I was thinking about, I went back to the main building.
While going back I was wondering "how did Carl find me? did he checked the whole place? Or did he just knew? How much time does those scales take to heat up, they must be very resilient too heating up."
