The old dog didn't know how to explain to his fellow bandit. He just shrugged his shoulders and said he sent the men so that Jon doesn't do it with the woman first while he is out of their sights.
Usually, the best of the captured girls or women are sent into the chief's cabin and while rest have dibs on by other superiors. The lesser Bandit can only get second-hand goods only after their superiors are fully satisfied.
This woman had only been captured today, and she was the wife of that fat man who was unfortunately killed by the Third chief for disrespecting him.
The third chief gave the wife of the merchant to them for the time being to play with her only the surface and then send her back to his cabin after dinner because the third chief wanted to spend the night with her first.
No one dared to cross him and climb on top of the woman first to satisfy themselves. Jon would be seeking death if he did so.
Unknown to them, Ivan and the woman had started going down the hill on the other side.
"Please, leave me alone." The woman pleaded as she looked back while trekking over the jagged surface of the hill.
Seeing that they were out of the sights of the bandits, Ivan shouted, "I'm not one of them. Runaway if you want, but be careful not to fall. I'm also trying to escape."
Ivan uncored the scarf that was covering his face. He also changed his direction, going down a little bit so that the woman would not be afraid of him. But it seems his words were not that believable.
The woman thought it was a trap, so she started running down with more speed. It was natural that she would miss a step or fall over after hitting her foot on a stone. Well, in her case, god awarded her with both of them at the same time. After taking too broad a step, her right foot accidentally hit a bump, causing her to roll down the hill.
"Oh, shit..." Ivan increased his speed and skipped over stones to catch her from rolling down from the hill.
There was a cliff ahead, and one needed to take the path around it to go down properly. The woman rolled over that path towards the cliff. Ivan also jumped at the same time and caught the woman's hand just as she had fallen off the cliff.
From all the rolling, the woman had sustained some injuries. Fortunately, she hadn't lost her consciousness. Ivan didn't have the strength to pull her up, so he shouted at her and said, "Use your other hand to climb up. I can't hold your hand for long."
The woman didn't need such a thing to be said; she caught Ivan's arm and tried to climb up.
Suddenly, Ivan heard the sounds of some people rushing towards them from behind him.
When he looked back, Ivan saw five bandits coming down while shouting at him.
"Jon, are you alright? Where's the woman?"
Ivan didn't reply to him. He instead looked over the woman and a big tree down some twelve feet away.
"Ah, Ivan, you idiot. That's what you get to save a woman. Now, suffer." Ivan cursed himself under his breath as he thought of a dangerous idea.
"Hey, hold me tightly when I count to three," Ivan said to the woman who had just only managed to grab the edge of the cliff to climb up.
"Huh?...What?" She didn't get the chance to ask what he meant by it.
Ivan saw the bandits coming nearer to them. He took a deep breath and once again thought his chances of surviving before making up his mind.
"Here goes nothing!" Ivan said aloud before forcing himself to jump from the cliff while tightly holding the waist of the woman.
"Are you mad? No!... Wait! Wait!... Wai~~~~t!"
The bandits stopped in their tracks when they saw Jon's suicidal move.
They didn't mourn for him but for the fine young women that slipped from their hands.
When they reached the suicide spot and looked over the cliff, they only saw a forest stretching down from eh base of the hill to the distance. They couldn't see if the duo survived or not.
"Should we go down there to check... It's near to the base of the hill; there shouldn't be any danger." a bandit suggested. He thought at least the woman would be lucky enough o survive the fall.
The other four looked at the first one and termed him as an idiot in their hearts before climbing the hill to go back to their camp to report about this tragedy.
The first bandit scratched his head while thinking hard to find what he had said wrong to be treated so coldly by his comrades.
...
Awooo!...
Ivan woke up dizzily with the sound of the carnivorous animal echoing through the forest.
"Agh..."
Ivan felt his body screaming in pain as he tried to lift his head. It felt as if a thousand-kilometer range mountain had altogether been put on his chest.
"...Wait... It's just the woman. She fell on top of me, it seems." Ivan saw that the woman was peacefully sleeping with her body lying atop him.
When Ivan looked down on her, he saw the beautiful scenery of her valley forming between twin peaks as they threaten to cave his chest with their weight.
Ivan felt a physical reaction appearing between his legs, therefore he shook his head to clear any unclear thoughts. It was not the time to be thinking from that place.
Her head was hanging to the left on his shoulder. Ivan looked up and vaguely saw the cliff through the tree branches from which they had just passed through while cushioning their fall. He remembers the woman had hit her head on one of them, therefore, she was still lying unconscious.
Awooo!...
Ivan took immediate action the second time he heard the wolf because it felt too near to them.
He pushed the woman aside to sit up and then tried to wake up the woman to tell him about their dangerous situation.
"It's not the time to be sleeping, you bimbo." From her heaving breast, Ivan knew she was alive but no matter what he did she stayed unconscious.
Awoo!...
"Oh, shit. It sounds like a wolf howl, and it should be near." Ivan didn't want to remain on the ground defenseless.
He tried to pick the woman upon her shoulders. Fortunately, his strength was enough to do that even if it had been halved.
But then he noticed a bird's nest lying destroyed at the place he had fallen to the ground. There were two chicks inside but both of them were way beyond saving after Ivan and the woman's weight flattened them as they fell from such a height.
Ivan chose the same tree which saved them from falling to their death. He started climbing with the woman lying on her shoulder.
Ivan kept on cursing the woman in his mind as she had to become dead weight at the most critical time.
Awoo!
Ivan stopped swearing and grabbed a branch within his reach before making effort to climb the tree as quickly as possible.
